Rafe is living alone in the big empty house known as Ravenwood now that his brother Thibeau has moved to New York. But is it really empty? A ghostly presence roams the house and strange knockings sound on the walls at night. Worst of all are the sightings of a man who looks very much like his dead uncle at the edge of the woods behind the house—the dead uncle who killed his grandfather and did his best to destroy Rafe’s entire family. On top of everything else, his relationship with Detective Gage Arceneau is probably going nowhere. Rafe can’t seem to work up the courage to tell Gage he’s a powerful witch from a long line of witches. Especially after Gage’s assertion that there’s no such thing as magic and “all that hocus pocus.”

Gage has been busy investigating a string of murders involving elderly women in the city, and though he tries to spend time with the gorgeous Rafe, his work keeps getting in the way. Secrets and lies separate them and keep them apart, while the shadows around Ravenwood grow deeper every day. Ghostly apparitions, an evil book of spells and continuing mystery surrounding Rafe’s grandfather’s death threaten to engulf them both and drag them under. In an entire city where the veil between the living and the dead is thin at best, Gage has to decide where his priorities lie and if he can learn to trust his heart, find love and live to tell the tale.

In continuation of witches finding true love, this was Rafe time to shine. Told from dual POV, it featured a sassy witch and disbelieving detective slowly falling in love and solving a mystery years in the making. It's steamy, mildly suspenseful and full of New Orleans charm.

Rafe Delessard is the epitome of middle child - slightly overlooked and constantly pushing the boundaries by being a total brat. But despite all that he is a loyal brother who protects Delessard family legacy and their secrets. When he meets a man who sparkles his interest, he doesn't know that it will take time, truth and one grumpy cat to conquer the man's heart. Sometimes Rafe did act out but it felt more out of loneliness rather than him being too irresponsible as Gage claimed. He did tend to have more impish nature than any of his siblings.

Gage Arceneau is a police detective who has a strong set of beliefs - there is no magic and everything is governed by laws of logic. When he meets young Rafe in a bar, their first encounter does not go according to plan. Complication upon complication stops any kind of chance Gage thinks they might have. As time goes by Gage still can't forget the beguiling young man. So one phone call starts a chain of events that brings him close to Rafe, and all those feelings he tried to suppress are back. I liked Gage. He was always calm and was the voice of reason. It seemed like at times Rafe needed the steady support Gage could provide. Despite Gage's fascination with old Ravenwood manor that belongs to the Delessard family, he was resistant to the idea magic. He saw the proof but denied it till the evidence was irrevocable. I loved how he chose to find comfort in Rafe when he was unsure how he felt.

The case this time was less gory and less edgy. It was all neatly tied in the end. It was easy to guess what's what. I wished for a little more excitement because it was sparse throughout the book. I hoped for more. It was a good continuation of the series though. The timeline overlapped with first two books, and some things made a little more sense when told from different angle. I was so excited to read this third installment of the Witches of the Big Easy series and it did not disappoint.
I knew once I read the first book Hexxed, that I was going to be chomping at the bit hoping that Rafe was going to get his story and was super pleased that he was paired with the big bad detective Gage Arceneau. These two were totally made for each other even if one of them is stubborn and takes his time seeing what’s right in front of him!!!
The characters are so likeable and engaging, the story is steeped in NOLA flavor from the food to the dialect and the author paints a very believable story. If you’re in the mood for some magic, suspense and drama along with your romance this is the story/series for you. I especially like the way new storylines are seamlessly added for the next installment without giving anything away. Just enough to peak your curiosity and still having the satisfaction of completion for the MC’s of this book.

Show, don’t tell!

I don’t think i have the stamina to continue this series. I highly dislike the changing authors, because they all write with varying degrees of talent and vastly different voices for the characters that intertwine throughout the series. This one is the worst, with so much useless exposition. This author quite literally tells the reader what to see, think, and feel at all times. There is never an opportunity to experience the plot from the characters perspective. The plot arc is rather jarring as well, with no true arc as such. The climax happened so quickly I had to go back and forth a couple of times to be sure i hadn’t missed something and was actually reading “epilogue”. Like what? Where the heck is the story?!

Rafe and Gage had some history even before book 1 occurred. Here we get to see how they met and interacted in the first 2 books and how they go from a one night stand into romance. There was extreme passion between them but with Gage being a cop and Rafe keeping the secret being a witch it kept them apart. However, there is murders going on close by Rafe's house and Rafe is seeing someone that should not be there. These 2 rely on each other to solve the mystery, and when Rafe tells Gage the truth, Gage has a neutral expression but does not leave Rafe's side when he is needed. I like that they are finally together and surprised how far the relationship went at the end :)

Aspettavo con ansia la storia di Rafe, ma purtroppo questo è il libro peggiore della serie. Una trama esile e tutto molto superficiale. Un vero peccato.

Witches and ghosts!

Back in my favorite city, New Orleans, it’s the quick-tempered Rafe’s time to find love, thanks to the talented Susan Scott. We met Gage in the first two books but now we get to learn more about him. The timing of this book takes place from the beginning of Hexxed to where things left off in Hunger so we get to see the cases from the perspective of Gage, which I enjoyed.

Rafe really likes Gage and they have an amazing connection and chemistry (when Gabe isn’t being stupid). But Rafe hesitates to tell him about his magical side, which is understandable as Gage is very dubious and doubting about the paranormal. At the same time, I wish that they had talked sooner as Gage senses that Rafe is hiding something and it only causes trouble between them. Plus Rafe is a little vindictive when he doesn’t get his way.

I loved the ghost and spectral aspects of this book as well as the mysterious occurrences at Ravenwood but feel bad that Rafe can’t seem to escape the curse. Although Gage is a sceptic he seemed to be very sensitive to certain things and I love his protectiveness of Rafe. I’ll say it again I do like the magically enhanced scenes. There was quite the unexpected twist in this book and it shed new light on everything.

Rafe and Gage make an excellent match and are a wonderful addition to a thrilling series! I am really glad that we got to catch up with Nic and Gabriel again as it brought about somewhat of a resolution to that conflict, but I do hope another book is in the works. Now on to Valen and Julian!

Already having met Rafe Delessard in the other books in the series, I never would of expected him to turn out to be,by his own admission,a pouty,foot-tapping,drama queen, with little to no patience when he wants something and doesn't get it. And what,or better yet,who he really, really wants is Detective Gage Arceneau.

Talking about Gage: I couldn't stop snickering every time he kept saying "I don't believe in this s**t,magic doesn't exist ". Poor thing, little did he know that soon he would find himself smack dab in the middle of a ghostly situation, shaking like a leaf and having the shocking proof that his boyfriend really is a witch.

I've had so much fun reading this book. Yes,there is the creepy mystery to unravel that kept me on my toes, but Haunted is the lighter story of the three in the series. Of course, the connection between Gage and Rafe is intense and these two are scorching hot together, but what I enjoyed most was their interactions. So cute and adorable with their back and forth, sparring verbal matches and disagreements.

The Witches of The Big Easy is an amazing series. I really hope that the authors can be convinced to not write The End to it with Haunted, because I would love to read more about all these charming, intriguing characters.

3.5. + // read copy as an ARC received through a book group

I'll have to re-review as the previous isn't anywhere to be found.

This is an MM PNR title in a so far 3 part series written by different authors each and concentrating on different brothers on each but seems to concentrate on same series of events done so, for me it was repetition hell and got confusing and would've been even boring if I wasn't so confused and stressed trying to make it make sense and not all mixed up. The problem for me was going way too much on and on about the same events from different points, done to death.

The setting, plot, characters, writing style and etc in itself wasn't half bad at all. I like pnr a lot. There were some plot holes for me but maybe I'm just being picky and maybe it's due to the aforementioned. I got confused.

In this title everything felt simply so repetitive it nearly drove me mad. Like everything was gone on about and chewed on time after time so that it felt like in a magic loop. I've no idea if my copy was some kind of cursed copy of that old Bill Murray movie type ...

Without such feeling of repetitiveness it'd have felt quite normal and nice. So 3.5 upped to 4 stars as I in general DID actually like it somewhat and I didn't feel like choosing 3 either.

Gage and Rafe

Love at first - haunting?
When Gage and Rafe first meet at Hexxed, it is pure lust at first sight - then life gets in the way. Gage is a Detective with a "magic isn't real" nature, while Rafe is a Witch.
Throughout the story they meet a few times with each one getting a little more fun and loving - until things start to go "bump in the night".
Ravenwood is a great backdrop to anything paranormal and it is Rafe's home, which he shares with Loki his cat. Rafe breaks it to Gage that he is a Witch when stranger things start to happen.
I highly recommend reading HAUNTED, to find out what happens next - you'll love the ending.
Susan E. Scott continues this series beautifully.

I’m so happy with Rafe and Gage’s story. I was intrigued by their reactions to each other in Hexxed and curious to see how their story would play out. They did not disappoint. The events at the end of book one have long reaching consequences that lead to strange visitations to Ravenwood, Rafe’s home. Gage doesn’t believe in magic which poses a problem since his boyfriend is a powerful witch. This is a great addition to the series and an enjoyable read.

Rafe and Gage have appeared in the previous two books and I am positive that I am not the only one wondering about their story. Well, we got it and it's beyond anything that you can imagine. Both of these men have incredible stories to tell and it is simply crazy, fun, hot, and everything you can want. We get updates on the rest of the books and find out more of what's happening.

I absolutely love this series and hope it continues on for some time. This world is fantastic!

It was ok

This was probably my least favorite of these books. Gage wasn't the same character that we had already met - he had no recognition of the mental whamees that Nic and Rafe had put on him, even though he complained a lot about it in the books before this one.

While the romance between Rafe and Gage was probably the most believable of the the books so far, I was a bit apathetic about them getting together. It was sweet, but not really tremendously engaging.

Yay for Rafe and Gage's story! I was waiting to see if they were going to get a story. So this made me happy. Susan E. Scott has added another great story to this world. I love the paranormal with mystery story. It adds two of my favorite things to read and combine them. The Witches of the Big Easy is a great multi author world that just pulls me into the story.

I really liked this story but several things happened that contradicted things that happened in the second book. Plus something mentioned early in the book was then ignore later in the book. Otherwise it was a good story.

I liked it

This was a pretty good book. The two main characters were wonderful. The only problem was Gave was a bit dry and boring. I wish he could have been more personal but I think the author was going with the upright cop. I just found him boring. Other than that I liked it.

This story is lighter than book 2 and less challenging. It's focus more on two MC rather than storyline. What confusing me is the timeline is not parallel with book 2 and some part is not as told in book 2. Sorry, but i skip about 50% to finish this book.

Rafe and Gage...sigh...I think I would live at Ravenwood. The ghosts, the magic and the sexiness. So much excitement. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time! Amazing!!

Great chemistry

I really enjoyed the chemistry from these characters. The small connections to each book really makes this book fun to read
