First part of the series, should be read before 'Beginning and End,' told from Hermione's POV. Highly recommend.
I think what I love about most of these Dramione fanfics is how hugely capable Hermione (typically) is (in most of them). She's smart, and everyone knows and accepts she's smart, and it's never a "not like other girls" issue / no one accuses her of acting like she thinks she's "not like other girls" (no one makes a reference to her being smart and a female, she's simply a smart person who happens to also be female, no biggie), and she's just simply a total badass. This fic is no exception even though it opens with her having lost her memory of the last several years.
As an aside, I enjoy this author's writing style and unique voice and their obvious love and care for the characters. Some might call these stories "slow burn" but I prefer instead to label them as a "savoring simmer." ;-)

This was okay. There was a lot more telling then there was showing. I was hoping to see Draco work hard on getting Hermione to fall in love with him again, and I don’t feel like I really got that. I wanted him to try harder (especially at the beginning) and instead he just distanced himself and tried waiting it out until she pushed for more.
The initial few months jumped by so quickly and I feel like that should have been the most important part of the story… watching her get settled in.
I also didn’t like how everyone treated her - the way they hardly explained anything about the past and expected her to just trust the few scraps they all gave her about her past. Canon Hermione would have NEEDED more than that to survive in the state she was in. She wouldn’t have just let everyone rule and dictate her life like that.
I also just wanted a lot more in general. More of their history. More of watching them fall in love again. Just more of everything. I get that it was a short(ish) story… but a lil bit more detail in certain places would have been really nice.

After an incident with a dark artifact, Hermione wakes up in St. Mungo with no recollection of the past 6 years. She is shocked to learn that she is married to Draco, and must now live with him, since it is what would be best for her recovery, according to her healers. Overwhelmed and distrustful at first, Hermione slowly starts to open up to Draco and see a new side of him that was not there six years ago. While waiting and hoping to get her lost memories back, she can't help but fall in love with him all over again.
I am not usually a fan of the amnesia trope, and I am so happy that I was able to enjoy this Fanfiction that much. There is a little bit of angst at first, since Hermione does not remember her relationship with Draco at all, and she does not trust him. It slowly, but surely changes, though, and by the end, it’s all love and fluff and good feelings.
The writing is good, it does not feel like a series of rushed events, and for a story that is this short, I was impressed with the relationship development the author managed to have in her story.
I really enjoyed this softer version of Draco. He is kind and supportive, and is not scared of people seeing him be affectionate with Hermione, or dote on their friends’ kids. His love for Hermione is pure and stronger than anything. Seeing how he is willing to give her space and time, even though it is slowly killing him, broke my heart, and at one point, all I wanted was for Hermione to just give him a hug and tell him that it would be okay.
There is some smut in this book, but it mostly focuses on the emotional aspect of the romance, which I really enjoyed. I love smutty books as much as anyone else, but I was in need of something light and sweet, and this story delivered. I can’t classify this as a second chance romance, but it was beautiful to see Hermione fall in love with Draco for the second time, and see him be so patient and understanding with her. Once they decided to let themselves enjoy each other more, though, there was undeniable sexual chemistry between them, and the few spicy scenes we got were good.
I always enjoy it when Hermione gets an honorary Slytherin status. Seeing Theo and Pansy be friends with her, and try their best to help her, while also having no boundaries, was cute and funny. We can also see their strong bond with Draco and how loyal they are to each other. Say what you want about Slytherins, but they do have each other’s backs.
The next book in this series is actually a prequel, showing us everything that happened in those missing 6 years, and I will give it a try for sure, if only to get more of this sweet and doting Draco.

⤐ Overall.
I'm definitely going through a slump. I would have loved this under normal circumstances. I know this because my reading buddy in all things HP fanfiction was enamoured with Wait and Hope. She and I have yet to find a fic we disagree on in non-minor things. My natural conclusion thus can only be that it's me, not the fanfic. I found absolutely nothing in here that is worthy of complaint and yet I didn't really feel touched.
After the shock that was Breathmints and Battle Scars , Wait and Hope was such a lovely, soft book to read. In many fics, a lot of spit, hate and brutality are exchanged before Hermione and Draco finally give in to their attraction towards each other and open up. Not that I don't like myself some banter or anything - besides, after their history, it would only be natural for them to be at each others' throats for a while. Nonetheless, seeing a lost Hermione being downright shocked to see how different Draco is from the man-slash-boy she remembers. Seeing her fall in love (again) in such a gentle and total way completed something in me.

I’ve only seen it twice, once in this book and once in A Curse of True Love, but I love it all the same: when a character loses their memories and has to fall in love with a person all over again. The way they have to work out why she lost her memories and maybe how to get them back while also navigating their relationship…its done SO well.

The same goes for Harry and Ron, although it’s a different sort of friendship/relationship because of all the existing animosity that runs even deeper than Ginny’s.
➳ Hermione and Pansy: okay first of all Pansy Parkinson is SO goated i love her so much. She is so cool and I wish she were featured in more fics because hello?? She’s amazing. Old money QUEEN. But also I love that her and Hermione’s relationship is so centered around boundaries lmao, it’s so funny. And I love that Hermione can tell that Pansy cares, even if she oversteps sometimes. Its perfect.
➳ Hermione and Theo: Perfection. Theo is so chaotic in every fic and I love that he’s basicaly a canonically chaotic and ridiculous character now. I love that he basically gies Hermione ‘tough love’ while trying to steer her in the right direction back to Draco, and in return Hermione helps him search for a boyfriend. The two of them are amazing (and I have a sneaking suspicion theo was almost sorted into gryffindor, and he just didn’t want to tell her).
➳ Theo and Blaise: I am OBSESSED with theo being gay. It’s so on brand for him its not even funny and I adore it. I also love that Blaise thinks hes flirting with theo and theo is just completely fucking oblivious, its adorable and stupid at the same time. They’re perfect.
➳ Hermione + her parents: Often (perhaps too much so), Hermione’s parents are either dead or their memories permenantly erased. I’m not sure about how canon handles this issue, but in fics, it happens all the time. I was fully prepared for that to be the case in this one too. But it wasn’t. Hermione’s parents have their memories, This was arguably as surprising to me as it was to her, but I loved it all the same.

But also I love that her and Hermione’s relationship is so centered around boundaries lmao, it’s so funny. And I love that Hermione can tell that Pansy cares, even if she oversteps sometimes. Its perfect.
➳ Hermione and Theo: Perfection. Theo is so chaotic in every fic and I love that he’s basicaly a canonically chaotic and ridiculous character now. I love that he basically gies Hermione ‘tough love’ while trying to steer her in the right direction back to Draco, and in return Hermione helps him search for a boyfriend. The two of them are amazing (and I have a sneaking suspicion theo was almost sorted into gryffindor, and he just didn’t want to tell her).
➳ Theo and Blaise: I am OBSESSED with theo being gay. It’s so on brand for him its not even funny and I adore it. I also love that Blaise thinks hes flirting with theo and theo is just completely fucking oblivious, its adorable and stupid at the same time. They’re perfect.
➳ Hermione + her parents: Often (perhaps too much so), Hermione’s parents are either dead or their memories permenantly erased. I’m not sure about how canon handles this issue, but in fics, it happens all the time. I was fully prepared for that to be the case in this one too. But it wasn’t. Hermione’s parents have their memories, This was arguably as surprising to me as it was to her, but I loved it all the same.

Summary:
After encountering a dangerous dark artifact, Hermione wakes up in St. Mungo's hospital with amnesia. She can't remember anything from the last six years, including the fact she's married to Draco Malfoy.
Under the advice from her doctors, Hermione reluctantly agrees to stay at the flat she shares with Draco to help her become better acquainted with her old life. Being in a familiar place could help bring back Hermione's memories, but there's always the possibility her condition is permanent.
At first, Hermione is overwhelmed by the situation, but she slowly starts to discover who she is and finds herself falling in love with Draco (all over again).
My Thoughts:
This story is adorable. It starts a little angsty and sad since Hermione has amnesia and doesn't remember her relationship with Draco, but overall, it is light and sweet. This is by no means a masterpiece, but it's a perfect short(ish) story that'll fill your soul with happiness and love.
My favorite part of the story is Draco. This Draco is doting, kind-hearted, affectionate, vulnerable, supportive, and would do anything for Hermione. Literally, anything. The way he loves Hermione makes me cry because it's so pure and beautiful. I swear his character was inspired by Noah from the Notebook, who is also perfection.
I adored the Slytherin gang, especially Pansy and Theo. These two were so charming in their own way! I love Theo's humor and Pansy's loyalty. I'm excited to read more about these characters in the rest of the series.
The perfect happily-ever-after ending. This is a fluffy fanfic, so of course, the ending will not disappoint. Especially that last chapter, which is essentially a '6-years-later' epilogue that wraps up this story in a perfect bow. Also, obsessed with the bit about Draco's text messages. ❤️
Overall, Wait and Hope is a cute fanfic that'll make your heart soar. You'll finish this story wishing you could have the same kind of love as Draco and Hermione.

Dramione + Amnesia trope never misses.
This was EVERYTHING. I loved it so much, it made me so happy. I wish I could explain or express just how HAPPY Dramione makes me.
I've been in a slump for MONTHS now because no romance book that's come out in recent times is good. They all fall down the same "tropes" hole and it makes it BORINGGGG but I can always count on my AO3 writers to get me out of a slump and care about love and romance again.
PLEASE pick this up, it was SO cute.

Sigh…feels so nice to be back in my favorite world…DRAMIONE. My true loves! This book was such a treat, because sweet Draco may be my new Roman Empire. I can’t wait to read his prequel!!!! In this story, Hermione and Draco are married. Only Hermione doesn’t know that at first, because due to an accident, she’s lost six years of her memory. Which includes any and all memories of her and Draco as anything other than enemies.
Draco, wildly in love with his wife, is devastated that Hermione can’t remember anything from their life. But he’s determined to help her recover her memories. Hermione tries her hardest to tolerate Draco, but it’s difficult for her. She doesn’t remember his love, her friends, her life…but she slowly warms to him, and they begin to get to know each other all over again while they both work to find a cure. With help from all of their closest friends, whom I adored, Hermione begins to build a life from the ashes of her old one.
This was just so well written and such an enjoyable read! I absolutely loved Draco, Theo and Pansy had me cracking up, and Harry and Ginny were perfect together. But no one is more perfect than Dramione, and I can’t wait to read the prequel of how they fell in love!

this is easily one of my new favorite fics. it was a heartwarming story with the perfect amount of angst, a slow-burn romance, and lots of laughter. i definitely loved the overall amnesia trope and watching hermione fall in love with draco again. and i adored her friendships with the potters and slytherin gang so much. the ending was perfect and i was so happy to see draco’s text messages included in the final chapter. his love and support and protectiveness towards her was exquisite.

After an accident, Hermione loses several years of her memory not limited to where she got happily married to Draco freaking Malfoy. This was lovely because he was hurting but had to work double time to prove that he had changed and so had she.
Draco and Hermione's relationship was lovely of course but I loved her friendships with the Slytherin crew. I always felt like they were really one dimensional in the books so I appreciated some added depth to these folks.

3.5 stars. Draco and his gang are such lovable characters in this one, but the romance fell a bit flat. There was a lot of sizzling chemistry but not enough emotional connection, and I didn't quite get the reason that Hermione fell in love the second time for. I wish the prequel could've been folded in here to add some depth, but sadly that's another book twice as long as this and I might not have the patience to get through it.

looks like i’m a whore for amnesia trope and forced proximity where hermione wakes up from a coma and is told that she has lost 6 years of memories which she shared with her husband aka our beloved malefoy. like the angst and tension. yes please. the ending left me UNSATISFIED. i needed to know if she got her memories back but i guess it was done on purpose since beginning & end (the prequel) exists. i will for sure read it since i’m also missing 6 years of their life together and i need to know how my babies got together before the accident.

wow i devoured this. this fanfic was so well written and i loved every second of it! i loved draco’s characterization in this one, as well as all the friendships (and how all of them loved hermione)
