The Regency Rockstars series is a new twist on Historical and Rock Star romance. Stories of war-scarred English lords who are bad boy musicians and the women who dare to love them.
Kendal is a standalone book in the Regency Rockstars series.
Born in England, but raised in Australia, Sasha has a love for both countries. Having her heart in two places has created a love for travel, which at last count was to over 55 countries. A travel guide is always on her pile of new books to read. Sasha lives with her husband, her university student daughter and a cat who demands a starring role in the next book. She has found new hiding spots for her secret chocolate stash.
As the son of a duke and a clear musical genius, Lord Kendal Grant can be insufferably arrogant, but since his return from fighting Napoleon he has lost his compositional muse. Piano tuner's daughter Mercy Wood simply needs enough money to make ends meet for herself and her father, so if some foppish lord wants his piano needlessly tuned each day, she's happy to take his money. But the daily contact soon sparks an attraction between Mercy and Kendal, leaving them both a bit shocked and Kendal inspired to create music again. As love grows between them, Kendal finds himself longing for a future with Mercy, despite the differences in their social standings. But when Kendal unexpectedly becomes his father's heir, he realizes there are more challenges to his future with Mercy than even he realized.
This was not my favorite of the series, but I did really enjoy it. I liked that Kendal was so in touch with his emotions and unafraid to show them; even if this did make him a bit manic, I think it made for an interesting character. What annoyed me was Mercy and the fact that she wasn't going to tell Kendal about his child and presumed to know what was best for him without bothering to communicate with him. I just think that is a bit unforgivable. Fortunately, she did come to her senses, of course, but that still colored my opinion a bit. Nonetheless, this was a great wrap-up to a fun series featuring lovely friendships and burgeoning relationships in a modern twist on regency.
Kendal’s story I have been looking forward to this one, he is a very passionate about his music and about most things in life, I was wondering how Kendal and his piano tuner the beautiful Mercy Woods would get their HEA and MS Cottman has pulled his life together very nicely, a few hiccups along the way which meant some angst and tension between them but the sensual pull was always there.
Lord Kendal Grant is a musical genius and has the temperament to go with it, but now playing music with the Nobel Lords his muse has run away and he is not coping well, he organizes a piano tuner to come and tune his instrument and suddenly he is in love and the muse has returned when he meets the beautiful piano tuner’s daughter Mercy, he must have her and after a first kiss he is convinced that she will be his wife, but that may be OK when he is the second son to a Duke but a family scandal has made him Marquis and Mercy is pulling away.
Mercy Woods comes from the wrong side of The Thames, but the attraction between her and Kendal is hard to ignore and then a sensual kiss is pushing her towards him not to mention the melding of their musical talents makes such beautiful music and they are spending as much time together as possible. Mercy finds herself pregnant and convinced that she will never be good enough to be a Duchess and decides it is better to marry someone else, but her heart will always belong to Kendal.
This is a well written story, filled with lots of emotion and such a sensual romance, MS Cottman has pulled together a regency with a difference, one that had me turning the pages, I loved that Kendal knew he loved Mercy and nothing was going to stop him from making her his Lady even a wedding and Mercy what a strong heroine she is loveable and suits Kendal so well, I love it when two people so meant to be together get their HEA. I loved this one, so four of the Nobel Lords have found their forever partners after setting up the group to continue on in their rakish ways, I do highly recommend this one and the series. Thank you MS Cottman, it is a fabulous story.

My review :
When the son of duke falls for a tradesman daughter, can they have a future together...
From the beginning of this series, I thought Kendal as the Queen Drama of the team. Still, it was fun to see him going all mad when someone uttered the name of Mozart, like with the introduction chapter, quite hilarious. After, as a second son, he enjoys life at its best, as nothing is really expected from him, except to supply for his older brother’s failure, in case of ... I loved him, he is like a spoiled brat at time, but he tries to better himself, he miscalculates his actions but it is with the best intentions. He enjoys an easy life, so he can’t understand what it is to struggle to put bread on the table. But he also learned life’s hardship when he enlisted with his friends to fight against Napoleon’s army. And while he knows Mercy will be unsuitable as a daughter-in-law for a Duke, he is ready to go against his own father, he knows he has found his match and she is the one for him whomever daughter she is. His only shortcoming was to never let Mercy know what he intended for them, he confess his love, that he will protect her but nothing more. Which let her wonder, what future they may have. Mercy is no simpering miss, she works for her living and every coin counts. She also knows how to defend herself against lords thinking because she is in trade, she is for sale. But Kendal, with his love for music and his seductive smiles stirs something different in her, even when she knows their is no future for them. It is their own misconceptions of the other that come between them, they might love one another but never they really took time to discuss their couple. So when their circumstances change, it widens the rift their differences in status already showed. This last book in this series was very entertaining, it was fun and romantic as Kendal was more than the Diva from the previous book and Mercy his perfect counterpart.
I was surprised to learn that outside a king, a peer was able to abdicate too.
My only deception is the cover, it does not match the hero’s description and the blurb is too exhaustive, spoiling a bit too much of the story.
It is 4.5 stars read, Mrs Sasha Cottman with this last book showed the extend of her talent in shifting a modern twist in a regency set tale. And it was so much fun, I can recommend this series as it is full of drama, witty banters and twists.
I was granted an advance copy by the author, here is my true and unbiased opinion.
What a wonderful story. Sasha Cottman’s, Kendal, is a beautifully written love story. This book has captivated me with all the passion and love that exudes between Kendal and Mercy. Sasha visionary writing transported to the historical time when there were always two sides of the track in London. The writing flowed and didn’t waiver from what Sasha conveyed to her readers. While some dialogue you wouldn’t find in other historical romance books, you found in hers. Having doing that made Sasha’s book all the more different from other writers. This is what made Sasha’s writing unique and I loved it. She’s not afraid to be bold with her writing. I love the comradeship between the characters, especially between Kendal and his friend. In the writing Sasha was able to show how all four men cared for each other. Mercy’s character, I loved. She didn’t stomp her foot and demand things from anyone. She set her own path. My fellow readers, I recommend this book. Until next time my fellow readers... read on! I voluntary reviewed this ARC after receiving a free gifted copy.
A match made in heaven.. wait no, musical harmony.. no.. possibly opposites attract? that is high born egotistical, talented lord and a working girl piano tuner and singer? Oh yes I was looking forward to Kendal's story and yes, he had the attitude just like the others. But there was more to him than the surface. "Am I the only one who understands the heart of the music? Will I ever find a soul mate who feels the same as I do?" His thoughts, as he and the Noble Lords were about to begin their concert. But as fate would have it, after Mercy tuned his piano, she began to play to see how it sounded and he could not believe how she mastered the piano! He tried to push her from his thoughts "But what if she could be more? What is this girl holds the secret to your future? Would you want her?" A delightful story filled with emotions, a little intrigue and a handsome lord who just might end up with the perfect woman! Could he manage it? Have thoroughly enjoyed this series and Sasha Cottman was truly brilliant in her imagination in the creation of the Regency Rockstars! Just need a soundtrack to go along with it!! Cannot wait for more from this author!
Sasha Cotton is a new author for me. The only book I had read previously of hers before this series was My Duchess, My Wife in the Duke in a Box Anthology. I really liked the story so thought I would try another of hers to see if I liked her.
I loved this series. I really liked Book 1 a lot and totally LOVED Book 2 and 3. Now Book 4 was also a great read. One thing I can say about this author that I noticed and it’s really not a big deal but I noticed it more in this book, is at times she says something too modern for the era. For instance, at one point Mercy tells Kendal that he is “all up in her business”. Not something said back then. There were other words or sayings here and there that I have never read in another Regency era book that I think were a bit too modern for the day but none it took away from the story. Just funny that I even noticed.
I loved Kendal and Mercy. I loved their personality and their chemistry. It was a great story and a great series. Really looking forward to reading more of her books.
Another lovely story in this series. I didn't like Kendal very much in the previous book, as he did go on ego trips. In this story, his softer side comes out, especially with his love, his Mercy. I loved this very enjoyable and entertaining read. Great characters and storyline. I love reading Sasha Cottman! She is a very talented author. 5☆
Kendal is an accomplished pianist. No mistake. He also has his views on certain composers. Mozart is not his favorite and see red when others talk highly of the composer. Salieri on the other hand, he worships. To get a piano ready for his daily practice he hires Mercy Wood to come and tune his piano everyday. EVERYDAY! He also would like to tune her but fights the lust knowing it would interfere with his mastery! Mercy agrees but realizes she must walk quite a distance to do so. She agrees and does so! During her tuning she plays a piece and now he is more than attracted to Mercy, he becomes obsessed with her. He flirts, talks dirty (too dirty for me) and finally convinces Mercy to become lovers. Mercy knows this will end only one way but she can't help but fall for Kendal. She becomes Kendal's muse and he realizes he can't live without Mercy. Being the second son, his love shouldn't complicate things. When some secrets come to light within his own family who he marries now becomes a big issue. Kendal must prove to everyone Mercy is not only his muse but the love it can not live without.
This story is well written and touches on a few subjects not usually talked about in Regency books...Rockstars being the biggest. But the storyline works. I personally (and it is personal) do not care for the use of the F word and a lot of explicit sex. While that doesn't work with me, it may be just what another loves. SO with that I think if the f work and explicit sex is not an issue for you, you will enjoy this book!
Kendal is the fourth book in the fun new Regency Rockstars series. The series is based on four lords who have returned from the war as heroes, but their popularity to the wicked women in London is in danger. A group of handsome Italian musicians is stealing the show! The lords decide to challenge the Italians and start their own musical quartet known as the Noble Lords. Mercy Wood only wanted to earn enough money for a pair of boots, so she walked a mile every morning to humor Lord Kendal and tune his piano. Between helping her father and playing every night at the Tipsy Toad her time is limited. She realizes that there is no future for her in Kendal’s future, but she can’t stop falling for him a little more each day. Lord Kendal Grant is the second son of the Duke of Banfield, with no plans on becoming heir. He is a genius with music and egotistically knows it. He hates Mozart and fights duels with those who disagree with his opinions. He falls instantly for Mercy when she accompanies her father to tune his precious Cristofori piano. He’s sure they can have a future together but when his circumstances change, and he becomes the heir to the duke things become complicated. This has been a unique and entertaining series. The books were well written, easy to read, and hard to put down!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
What’s worse than Mozart? Losing the woman you love. Lord Kendal Grant is the arrogant, egocentric son of a duke and a musical genius. Mercy Wood is the daughter of a piano tuner. Kendal is stricken the moment he meets Mercy. They love the same instrument, music, composers, and each other. When a family scandal results in Kendal being the duke’s heir, marriage to Mercy goes from difficult to seemingly impossible, especially after the duke interferes. When Lavinia discovers Kendal in the aftermath of a haircutting, music ripping drunken tantrum, she reveals a secret that changes everything. Can Kendal (with support from his mother and sister) convince his father that Mercy is the right woman for him? Is it too late? Will Mercy marry another man?
Each of the stories in this series is unique and entertaining. Kendal’s story is no exception. He and Mercy are perfect for each other. She will ground him and keep him humble (well just a little humble). He will keep her in comfortable boots. I enjoyed their story. I like that Kendal learned that he could find support in both his families – the Grants and the Noble Lords. I recommend Kendal and the other Noble Lords - our Regency Rockstars.
Mercy goes with her father to work on Lord Kendal Grant's piano. She can tell he is interested in her, but she has no time for rich men that only want one thing. But when he wants her to come everyday for tune his piano, she can't turn down the money she would earn. But the more time she spends with him, the harder it is to resist his charms.
Kendal is attracted to Mercy the moment they meet and figures out a way to keep seeing her. The more time she spends with her, he realizes that she is the one for him. He never thought that he could find anyone that felt the way about music that he did. He will do anything to make her his wife. But with Kendall being the son of a duke and Mercy a commoner, she doesn't see anything beyond an affair. Can Kendal get Mercy to see that they are perfect for one another?
I absolutely adored Mercy and Kendal's story!! I loved that they made a connection over their love of music. The bantering between these two had me laughing out loud! I just loved it!
This series was great and I loved watching these 4 friends find their HEA. I think that this might be the last one in the series, but I'm hoping that Marco gets his story in either this series or a spin off one. Fingers crossed...
This is a story about two protagonists from very different backgrounds. Kendal is a duke's son and Mercy is a lowly piano tuner. Unlikely as this romance seems, the author has managed to blend their lives well, although there were instances where I found the going tough, particularly in relation to the Duke of Bedford, Kendal's father. He couldn't fathom having Mercy as a daughter-in-law and then very quickly, once he found out she had a child, accepted her too easily. He even sat on her side of the wedding aisle, something I don't think a Duke would do. Other than those inconsistencies, the romance rollicked along quite easily. At times I thought Kendal was rather pushy and shallow, but he redeemed himself at the end by standing up to his father. Mercy was a consistently likable character and I enjoyed the interactions between the Noble Lords. Overall, a rollicking easy read. Contains swearing and sex scenes.
Kendal is book four in the Regency Rockstars Series by Sasha Cottman. I have enjoyed most of these books. Owen was my very favorite. But this one has a plot that is just too ludicrous to swallow - a man of wealth and title falls in love with a piano tuner/bar singer. I had been looking forward to this character’s story. Part of the magic of historical romance is being swept away into another world for a brief escape. But when that world borders on the implausible, it makes the story impossible to surrender to. I shake my head in disbelief instead of sighing over the heart-pounding romance. Cottman has several explicit sex scenes in the book. Just not my cup of tea. I was given a copy of this book.
Through the previous three books we have been teased with what might be developing between Kendal and the piano tuner's daughter, Mercy. The questions are finally answered here. I enjoyed the theme of a connection based on a shared love of music and appreciated when Kendal grew as a character. As with the last book, I feel like some of the topics (i.e. Kendal's brother's homosexuality) was shown through a more modern lens. In this case, it does a disservice to all those who were horribly persecuted in that time for their orientation. I feel the history of those injustices should have been acknowledged more fully.
A wonderful ending to a completely new historical romance, heart warming to finally read the last member got his HEA.
Although I was a bit worried there for awhile but the writing flowed to lift the story, yet a woman that believes she knows best does not always work, even the father so it definitely keeps you wondering till the end.
Loved this couple and would highly recommend the whole series for the connection to all the Noble Lords.
Wondering if Marco will get a HEA.
Stand alone
I bought this book in appreciation of the authors work.
Each of the men in this series has a battle to face, especially when it comes to the women they love. Kendal and Mercy’s story is a battle of a different sort. They bond over their love of an instrument and this rock star has found his muse in a women society rules say he can never marry. But his fellow lords convince him that love matters above all. I loved each one of these unique stories in this series.
An interesting story. Kendal seemed selfish and was passionate about his music, quite driven in fact. It was quite a journey for him to realize what was truly important, and it was then when the best part of him came out. Mercy tried to be such a strong woman, accepting her fate and a chance to have some happiness. I loved her intelligence as well as her passion for music. They made a great couple, despite their circumstances.
I received an ARC as a gift, and this is my unsolicited review.
Good story about an arrogant, self-centered lord, who is almost manic about his music, until he meets a piano tuner's daughter. I received an ARC of this book.
