Six will written space opera fantasy world 🌎 Sci-Fi adventures thrillers by Jasper T. Scott (Dark Space the complete Series books 1-6). I listened 🎶to each of these individually. Each story line is complicated different with interesting characters with lots of twist, turns, action, and violence leading to the unexpected conclusions. I would highly recommend this series and author to 👍 readers of paranormal space opera adventure novels 👍🔰. Enjoy the adventure of reading or listening to books 📚. 2023 😮👒😡
Jasper T. Scott is one of my favorite space opera authors. Happy reading in 2023 😀
Book 1: I was enthralled when reading this story. You are drawn in and want to help Ethan and Alara to pay off their debt to Brondi. And then Alara betrays Ethan and things change quickly. Poor Ethan is drawn into Brondi's scheme to destroy a ship and get Dark Space to open up for him and his pirating ways. With his appearance and voice changed (changed by holoskinning) to that of a pilot so he could infiltrate the Valiante, Ethan is in for a few surprises and shifting alliances. It was a very interesting read for the twists and turns taking place and I can't wait to start book 2 in this series.
Book 2: well, that's a lot of twists and turns. Who knows who is who? Holoskinners make an interesting twist to follow people and trying to keep the truths and the lies straight is a job unto itself. And Alara/Kiddie/Angel - if only she could remember who she is and how she knows how to fly the Mark I and a corvette. Great skills to have when you don't know who you are. Then things really start to unravel. Now I can't wait to get into the third book in this series.
Book 3: Wow! I loved this story. There were lots of twists and turns to keep me totally engrossed. I love a plot like this that you never really know who is the bad guy and who was the good guy. And who is real and who is a clone and then add in Gors and Sythians. And how long has everyone been around? Boy, do you ever have to pay attention to those twists now. I just can't wait to read more about Dark Space. Good writing again Jasper.
Book 4: My nightmares are now going to be filled with Sythians! They are relentless in their pursuit of killing humans, even though they originated as being human. Humanity is on the brink of annihiliation. But then Atton is sent to find Avilon. A world that Hoff was cast off of. But it is supposed to be a heavenly place where you can live forever. An interesting concept for a place. I could wax on about this concept, along with the perils of finding it, but I think instead I'll start reading the next book in this series to see how things develop. Thanks for keeping me interested and hanging on.
Book 5: OMG! Things are really moving along at a very swift pace. My mind has finally wrapped itself around the real versus the cloned person. The idea that we are related to the Gors and the Sythians is another matter. I feel quite sorry for the Gors and the remaining few of them and their need to get back to Noctune to their babies (crechlings). And who in the crew is working for you and who is working for the Sythians is always something that keeps you guessing. Then there's the Epilogue. Be prepared for some shocking turns. Definitely keeping me interested.
Book 6: I stayed up until 2 a.m. last night reading this last of this book. What a wild ride this was, too. Sometimes I was confused with whatever iteration of the person was that was in a particular scene. And things moved along so quickly that you had to be careful not to get whiplash. I loved the conclusion to the series but you really had to pay attention to who was now living where. I have already downloaded the next trilogy about Dark Space by Jasper T Scott and can't wait to get started. I see more late nights in my future.
OVERALL: This 6 book series was an absolute thrill to read. One must pay attention to which iteration of a person you were reading about as the storyline progressed. At least, I did. People were constantly switching allegiances, or were brainwashed to do so. Keeping up to it all just shows how Jasper T Scott is a wonderful storyteller to go through so many plot twists and to still keep the reader wanting more.
Had the first three books but got this to reread those and have the story as one long giant adventure read. So glad I did. Author really builds a fantastic adventure with some sweet twists and turns to keep you on your toes. Pick this up and sit back and enjoy yourself.
This book has so many reversals my head is spinning. Truly, we start with what seems an adventure story, but end up with the most incredible revelation one could possibly dream up. I gagged, and almost stopped reading. I kept on, and the adventure seemed to continue. Different characters get into various impossible, life threatening adventures. The results are never expected, and reversals are forgiven or not as alliances are made and broken or overwhelmed. There's the better, improved weapon which turns out to not be as good as thought. There are friends who are not friends and enemies who are not enemies, and everyone dies, but not. In the end lovers are reunited. Missteps are forgiven. The universe is beautiful, and everyone has only wonderful things to look forward to. Oh gag!
I have been reading Sci-Fi for 60+ years. Jasper Scott has given me a six book series that kept me engaged from beginning to end. He has taken me on a multi-galaxy ride filled with a multitude of characters ranging from heroes to anti-heroes and everything in between. Each of them with their admirable qualities, insecurities, hopes, dreams and doubts. The sheer breadth of the action required paying close attention to the characters and their relationships whether they be familial, intra-species or inter-species. At times this made me pause for a few seconds to reflect on where and with who we were catching up with at that particular moment. If you are looking for a read that takes you to new and distant places where almost anything is possible while still managing to reflect on both the good and bad inherent in the human (and extraterrestrial) species.
It took me almost 1.5 years to get through it, but I did eventually finish the 6 book series (there were quite a few books and short-stories, in the form of both books and magazines, in between the individual 'books' of the series, that I read as well).
It wasn't a bad series, however the ultimate question I like to ask myself is 'would I have read it knowing what I know now?' ... my answer is probably not. Here's the deal. After over 1900 pages I didn't feel the characters were all that well developed. And what development there was, generally didn't bring a whole lot to the story. Even those that were paramount to the story, weren't that well developed or explained.
Yes, there was some action and adventure, but that even seemed 'lacking'.
It's a bit sad to stop reading after making it this far, but. I've read the first three books rather quickly and liked them well enough. I found them to be Popcorn sci-fi, not a lot of new ideas and a ridiculous amount of "the far future looks pretty much like the US in the early 21st century", but it had nice action scenes and a driving story, so all good.
Then I started into the second trilogy. Sadly, everything that bugged me about the first one was amplified here and what I liked about it was reduced. That, or I ran out of patience with the character design.
Anyway, I decided to stop at 52% and keep a fond memory of the first half of this bundle.
I really basically enjoyed reading these six books, but doing it in one go at one point I felt like it was not getting anywhere, but then started enjoying it again. There are many twists and turns that were always engrossing, I nearly got confused with the characters when two of them each wore holo skins to imitate other characters, then met and swapped characters they were imitating so each could be called by 3 names at one point (spoil plot if I explain) I went back and wrote the names down on a bit of paper. I recommend the books, the story on occasion was very difficult to put down and going to bed was not an option till certain plots resolved them selves
Should be titled 'Action Stories for IDIOTS. I quit trying to read this early on... I can't stand books so focused on ACTION that they don't pay attention to what they're writing. Actions that don't make sense in the situation, and downright dumb plot errors that any editor should have gotten corrected. If you're someone who can turn your brain off and just follow that kind of stuff then you might get farther than me...
I really enjoyed reading this series. In a fascinating way, it covered life, death, and an afterlife. It made me question my ideas about God and good and evil. There were many twists and turns that forced me to think about what was happening. I liked the characters, which were well drawn. It took me about a month to get through all 6 books, but the stories were always so engrossing that they were difficult to put down. Very enjoyable read.
I found that I couldn’t put this story down. I lost a lot of sleep, but I was happy to do it. The interaction of the characters was very realistic. I loved the way that the characters were forced to make some very hard choices, and how they lived with the consequences. Yes, I have found a new favorite Author. Thank you for a great ride Mr. Scott. I highly recommend this series.
This is a long collection. There are several "books" that are really more chapters in the same story. At times, it wanders away from SciFi into philosophy and religion, but the science fiction roots are still strong. There are many characters, but not so many that it got confusing. Some main characters from the beginning of the book carry on throughout it, which helps tie everything together.
A complete new set of worlds and people to fill them. and two Gods to fight over the spoils.
New people to fall in love with and to hate. Two Gods to fight for the right to demand your love or fear. And different understanding of what worship means to us. What love of family means to us. And ultimately what it is that makes species different. If that isn’t enough questions to keep you reading a great series I missed my mark. Fantastic story from start to end.
Constant action, imaginative foreign worlds and a surprising, satisfying conclusion. A rebel hero, a galaxy-wide fight between species, a power-hungry AI, death and cloning, old tech vs new tech… this book has it all! About book 5, I got lost with all the characters—who was a good guy, who was being controlled by evil, who was alive and who had died or been reborn…but I stayed with it, and it all came clear in amazing ways.
I enjoyed every twist and turn of this sci fi war/adventure series! Ever time I thought I knew where the plot was going a twist would take it in an unexpected direction where I would again feel I had it worked out to again find another twist! Thoroughly entertaining with knew, unusual and wonderful ideas - a true sci fi good read!
Right up there with Asimov's Foundation Trilogy and series.
Astonishing work. The scale is stupendous in every way -- mind expanding. Everything from the meaning of life to the most intimate aspects of personal relationships. There's first rate action galore as well as some of the most original and compelling aliens ever. Thank you, Jasper!
I just finished book 1 and had to post my review here so you, the reader, can get the entire boxset from Kindle Unlimited, enjoy.
Oh my gosh! This space opera is one of the best I’ve ever read (or seen). The storyline has multiple surprises and great characters. I highly recommend it.
Found it entertaining and an interesting mix of concepts. Don't often find elements of religion and sci-fi as well done. Good character development, interesting technology and a reasonable conclusion leaving room for next stories.
this book series is a waste of time, the author loses his train of thought and contradicts himself multiple times, characters are wishy washy and are not believable. The ending has a Scientology twist to it. Thumbs down on this one.
A very intricate story with interesting and enjoyable characters. Involved and evolving story with several unique twists. Well worth the time needed to read it.
A well stitched and flowing read with multiple evolutionary life lines that were then turned in final happy endings that would have seemed absolutely impossible. A gripping and attention holding series !
I really enjoyed this series of books. The reading at times was tedious. I enjoyed the characters and their sometimes devious interactions with other characters. Sometimes there is a great deal of suspense about what will happen to the characters.
These books feature a great storyline, a super universe, and well crafted characters. There were plenty of twists and turns, and nothing ever gets old. I couldn’t wait to read the next page.
I've never read an entire series of books before. But Dark Space kept me spellbound for hours on end. With many twists and turns, I was never sure where the novel was going until there. SciFi at its best I look forward to reading the sequels
Wow what a saga. Very detailed, visual and amazing characters and plot twists!! I loved it all!! It’s worth reading the entire set. What an awesome author. Dry thought provoking!
I truly relish series that long, intense and thoroughly immersive and this series rates high on all of those. The plot takes all kinds of twists and turns; especially near the end.
The people in this book are killed and brought to life so many times it gets very confusing. So many plots, sub plots and hidden plots you will have to keep notes to follow it.
It is a great story. Often times, difficult to keep all characters straight, but well worth reading to the end. I found many parallels to today’s society and the problems we face.
