There isn’t a lot of “downtime” in this 188 page novel. There is a very clear struggle with hate and discrimination, Powers being hated and hunted; hunter try to take away the thing that makes a Power unique and different. You also see that even the strongest of people are not immune to the hate of others and how fear of powerfully influential people has some doing disposable thing like turning a blind eye to abuse and harassment.

The Powerful starts and doesn’t seem to slow down, throwing one thing at you then another. Before you can process one thing, you turning the page to another “oh, shit” kind of moment. I wouldn’t say that it’s a “light read”, but it does pull you in and makes you want to flip to the end and learn everything in minutes; making it a quick read but so very rewarding.

You want to connect with Annie James, tell her you’ve got her back. She is strong, SO strong, but fear and hate have made her feel alone and isolated for so long. She had no one on her side, no one to care for her or look after her, but her cousin Nick.

Shut away for years, alone, Annie finally get the chance to met new people when she enters public high school but when she encounters an old “friend” it’s nothing but bullying and physical abuse. Where most people would give up, turn away, never go back, Annie holds her head up. She renters that school each day, knowing what she faces because if she doesn’t that means she been broken, that THEY’VE won. She will not voluntarily leave.

Despite the immense loss she has suffered and continues to suffer through, Annie James continues on, continues her fight against Hunter, against Josh.

She is, in every sense of the word, Powerful.

The powerful consists pf 40 chapters some are short and some are long. The cover and the title of the story totally goes with the plot in the story. The story starts with a terrible memory of the protagonist Annie , Annie is Annie James, but everyone in town knows her as Annie Winters, my uncle’s last name and my mom’s maiden name. My parents were Powers and so as she. A Power is simply a person with supernatural abilities, but they aren’t all the same. some of them are stronger than others and some of them have skills refined to specific abilities. But they all are different from general population and are unbeatable and that is when hunters come in. Hunters: the people who dedicate their lives to killing Powers. The story revolves around this plot and i would not tell you more now grab your copy to read this interesting story. The story is really very gripping so the book being a real page turner. The way the author has presented everything is just perfect and i really loved it. Narration is so good and it’s easily understandable that makes it a flawless reading. So overall it’s an amazing read i would really highly recommend this book to everyone out there. It will not disappoint you for sure.
