Are you looking for anxiety books for kids?

Jimmy the Jittery Jitterbug is an easy to read anxiety book for children.

Jimmy just can’t seem to stop jittering. He jitters in the morning. He jitters during the day. He even jitters at bedtime. Just watch what happens when it’s Jimmy’s turn to read aloud at school.

This beautifully illustrated children’s book will focus on common types of anxiety and phobias in children - separation anxiety, social anxiety and specific phobias - and provide strategies and tools that help Jimmy to overcome his worries and fears.

What is anxiety?

Anxiety is a feeling of worry, nervousness, or unease, typically about an imminent event or something with an uncertain outcome. If unaddressed, anxiety can often lead to depression.

Lets teach our children about mental health and provide them with the right tools, attitude and growth mindset to keep them anxiety/worry free.

Jimmy the Jittering Jitterbug sits comfortably on your shelf with other anxiety relief for kid books such as What to Do When You Worry Too Much (Dawn Huebner), Breathe Like a Bear (Kira Willey), Coping Skills for Kids Workbook (Janine Halloran) and other books on parenting, separation anxiety books, and phobia workbooks

Clever story about anxiety and ways to relieve it in children. Jimmy gets nervous and jitters in different situations. His family help him cope by offering tips to relieve his nerves.
Terrific comprehension activities included at the end of the book.
Great read aloud for families and elementary classes.

Jimmy (Jittery Jitterbug) is the sweetest, kindest bug you would ever meet.
But sometimes he is shy & anxious.
Jimmy doesn’t like to read in front of the class because he thinks the others will make fun of him.
Ms. Hoot (teacher) encourages him.
His mother did also.
At night Jimmy would fear the dark in his room.
His father helped him overcome that.
How can parents or others help children overcome their anxiety & fears?

I do not receive any type of compensation for reading & reviewing free books from publishers & authors. Therefore, I am under no obligation to write a positive review, only an honest one.

A very awesome book cover, great hand-drawn colored pictures & proper font & writing style. A very well written children’s (elementary) educational storybook. It was very easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a great set of unique characters, settings, etc. to keep track of. This could also make another great children’s educational movie, a classroom presentation, an animated cartoon, or better yet a mini TV series.
There is no doubt in my mind this is a very easy rating of 5 stars.

Anxious jitters affect us all sometimes, and Jimmy is no exception.

An adorable book to help kids who fight anxiety sometimes, this book could easily be a fun read to help them think.

I found this book at the perfect time. My daughter struggles with anxiety. Jimmy's first example of reading out loud is shared by my daughter. But when Jimmy was invited to a sleepover and his anxiety climbed, the heavens shined down on us. This book was delivered the week my daughter was invited to her first sleepover, and we were dealing with her own worries also.

While Jimmy is able to talk through his anxieties quickly (my favorite is the example of monsters, and his father helps him look for them) and real life doesn't tend to resolve that quickly, I think this is still a great book for kids who worry to read. Young kids can see that it's normal to have anxiety and worry. They can see how to talk themselves down, and still fight past it.

Ellis also includes activity pages and questions in the back that can help children focus on their own problems.

A must read for any kids who start struggling with anxiety and worry!

Jimmy The Jittery Jitterbug is a picture book by Sonica Ellis, and illustrated by Harriet Rodis. We begin the book by meeting Jimmy, who experiences anxiety. This book shows Jimmy on his journey to overcome this problem.

I think it’s definitely a book that a lot of kids, and even teens and adults, can relate to. I appreciate that the author takes a bit of time to have a variety of instances which cause Jimmy anxiety, and that the author also has several examples of how to lessen the stress in each situation. It’s good to see a multitude of characters caring for Jimmy, and trying to ease his anxiety.

I loved the illustrations. There are definitely some heartwarming moments for me, when I see the character caring for Jimmy. There are some great double page spreads. I love seeing all the characters, and the scenes.

Overall, I think it’s a great book! I think many kids would find it very useful. The story and illustrations are great!

A cute story to help children handle anxiety in their lives. I read it to our four year old grandson from the ebook edition during a visit and he seemed to enjoy it but I don't expect that he will ask for it again. The name itself is too difficult for children to remember; however, it is colourful and well-illustrated and I think perhaps it would work very well for a child who actually was going to school and was having anxiety problems. I think it would be an excellent resource in a school library, and a book which teachers could recommend to parents who had children with nervous issues. I would hesitate to read it to children who are not displaying anxiety issues, worrying about night monsters, or asking for a night light as it might just give them ideas.

Jimmy the jitters bug was so much fun to read because it made me and my granddaughter laugh! Thanks so very much Ms Ellis for this awesome treat that came with great illustrations. I would recommend this book to anyone who has grandchildren that are very young are preschoolers. This book teaches your children how to control their emotions by listening to parents, teachers are friends. I gave this book five stars because I liked how it teaches children to be aware or control his/her emotions. Thanks again we will read this book a few more times!❤️❤️🙌🙌👍👍

About Jitters

If a child has the "jitters" this would help ease it.

This picture book focused on a jitterbug who has the "jitters.". With encouragement from others, the "jitters" will ease off. Told in this delightful way, this is a good book to read to kids.

Definitely recommend this book.

The print is too small

This book is extremely difficult to read because of the small print size. I teas it to my grand daughters and the black print on a reddish background was virtually unreadable. A discussion about monsters is to mature for 3-5 year olds.

Cute

I thought is was a very cute book, one that lends itself to discussions about childhood fears. Without using the word scared, children can open up and discuss what might make them anxious and fearful.

Cute

Cute story but I would have liked to see some coping mechanisms like deep breathing and sensory solutions to help calm a child. Also some grammatical issues. My 5 yo loved the story and it helped her realise she’s not alone in feeling anxious about things.

Nice read

Nice story about anxiety. My little one really got into the vividness of the pictures. The message was also conveyed very well for children. Adults as well if we are being specific.

Short and sweet

Less than five minutes to read and good to start a dialogue of what makes our little ones "jittery".

Really enjoyed reading with my 4year old and doing the questions in the back.
