In this seventh volume, a kind of bridge between adventures, Olruggio questions whether Qifrey may be using his young apprentices, and Coco in particular, in his revenge plot for his lost eye at the hands of the Brimmed Hats, with all their Forbidden Magic. As that occurs, Coco decides she wants an answer to the question about whether they will ever be able to find her mother and heads to the Tower of Tomes to find out, joined, eventually by Qifrey. The main thing that gets accomplished in this volume is a kind of circling back to foundations:
“Think back on what you’ve established--pondering, inquiring, practicing, innovating, discussing, and solving the problems before you, one step at a time. It wasn’t so long ago that you didn’t know the first thing about magic. But look at all the trials you’ve overcome with your friends. . . When an answer is not forthcoming, we can rely on the wisdom contained here [he taps on her forehead] to find a different way. So long as you don’t stop imagining, you’ll be able to produce any number of answers. That is the essence of magic”--Qifrey, to Coco
So, it's a coming of age story, something everyone has to go through, problem-solving your way to adulthood (oh, how I wish schools focused on this more!) And in this series, at the heart of the project of imagining, of magic itself, is drawing, creating. Coco is learning to draw her way to hope.

Also, the confrontation between Q and Olruggio gets resolved, also re-establishing that they are not adversaries, but friends. All this is preparation for Silver Eve, a witches festival, and then bigger, scarier challenges beyond that. A feel good volume, basically, with the award-winning drawing of Kamome Shirahama, at her unusually good usual.

A Care Bears volume where nothing much happens except everyone sits around talking about their feelings and how much they like everyone else. What little progress appears to be made is just erased by the end. And yet it looks so nice and the characters are just so wuvable.

A little bit mad on Qifrey that he doesn’t want to communicate with anyone or ask for help but oh well. We shall se the consequences of his actions pretty soon I think.

El arte es muy bonito y la historia es muy interesante, pero cada tomo cuenta bastante poco y no hace más que alargarlo todo. Llevamos 7 tomos en los que apenas hemos descubierto cosas y si es un patrón que va a seguir repitiéndose es muy posible que la historia se acabe atragantando un poco

It low-key scares me these parallels being drawn between Qifrey and Coco, both of them had something important taken away by forbidden magic and they both keep getting drawn to the path of destruction and then coming to their senses... I have faith in Coco but I don't know about Qifrey...

Graphiquement c'est toujours merveilleux! Au niveau de l'histoire j'ai apprécié en apprendre plus sur Kieffrey cette fois ci et j'ose espérer que les choses commencent a s'accélérer (le précédents volumes stagnent un peu je trouve)

4,25 ⭐️ this was such a mysterious volume! the story of qifrey’s past and more about olruggio’s friendship with qifrey. we’re following a crazy journey right now, where coco learns more and more about the other sides of magic. i’m so curious to learn more about qifrey, and i wonder if he’s really the sweet guy he seems to be.

Does resolve whether Coco leaves Qifery for another master, and talk about the limits of magic, and about hope.
A book full of revelations about Qifery. I had thought I had guessed what his issue with the Brimmed Hats was, from when he asked whether they included someone who looked like him. (A twin, perhaps?) But the origin story is worse, and would preclude that.
It also reveals much more about Olruggio. A much finer character than has been revealed before. Also about how long he and Qifery knew each other.
Making some of the revelations about Qifery worse. He is a good teacher, and his purpose is higher than it seemed, but his tactics -- oh my.

The artwork of this manga is one of the best I've ever seen. I wish the story was a little bit more enticing, but it's interesting enough and I love the characters. I suspect it's just not my genre. Still, I think this is a masterpiece and I wonder why it's not more popular.

Dans ce tome on en apprend plus sur Kieffrey et sur son passé ainsi que ses motivations actuelles. C’est génial de découvrir un peu plus ce personnage.

Atelier of Witch Hat, séptimo tomo de la serie escrita por Kamome Shirahama. Este nuevo tomo nos muestra la oscura infancia del maestro Qifrey, y tengo que decir que me ha destrozado el corazón y enternecido al mismo tiempo. Saber cada vez más sobre cada uno de sus personajes está siendo una verdadera maravilla de leer, por lo que estoy ansiosa por seguir adentrándome en esta historia llena de magia y oscuridad. Este nuevo capítulo es un punto de inflexión bastante importante para empezar a entender muchas incógnitas de tomos anteriores.

Las ganas que tenía de leer el nuevo tomo de Atelier no eran normales, leer este manga es para mí un momento agradable y de disfrute (momento cuqui que digo yo), pero tengo que decir que esta vez me he sentido un poquito decepcionada. A pesar de que hay tomos que tienen mucha acción, la historia se hace lenta pues se nos va dando a cuentagotas, sabemos muy poco acerca de este mundo y de los personajes para el punto en el que estamos. Si esto sigue así, no sé cuántos volúmenes van a componer la obra.
Con este tomo he sentido, más que nunca, que la trama estaba estancada. En este caso vamos a conocer un poco mejor la historia de Qifrey, el maestro de las chicas, pero tampoco demasiado. Ha dedicado todo este volumen a ello y salimos de él sintiendo que se podría haber contado muchísimo más o que podrían haber ocurrido más cosas. Tengo la sensación de que ha sido de relleno.
El punto positivo, que es el de siempre, es que el arte es espléndido. Kamome Shirahama es una maestra sumergiendo al lector en su mundo a través de sus dibujos, tan detallados y bonitos. Es toda una experiencia visual.
A pesar de la decepción, sigo enamorada de este manga, me hace sentir bien, es una zona de confort pues me transporta a mi niñez y de vez en cuando eso gusta. Espero que el próximo volumen esté a la altura de los anteriores a este.
