When veterinarian Raul is reunited with his lost cat he gets more than he bargained for in Miranda, the sassy woman who wipes the floor with his subpar gaming skills. But Miranda doesn’t know if Raul is flirting with her, or if he’s the stalker she’s lived in fear of for years. Is he the crazy cat guy of her dreams, or does he want her—dead or alive?
Author Note: This title was previously called The Vet and the Geek and was featured in the Crazy Cat Ladies anthology. It has been re-titled for this release.
It can never be said that NYT & USA Today Bestselling author Sidney Bristol has had a ‘normal’ life. She is a recovering roller derby queen, former missionary, and tattoo addict. She grew up in a motor-home on the US highways (with an occasional jaunt into Canada and Mexico), traveling the rodeo circuit with her parents. Sidney has lived abroad in both Russia and Thailand, working with children and teenagers. She now lives in Texas where she splits her time between a job she loves, writing, reading and fostering cats.
Sidney is represented by Nicole Resciniti of the Seymour Agency.
2.5 / 5 - I read this in the anthology, and when I started the anthology, I knew I’d be reading about eccentric cat lovers. I didn’t realize I’d be reading about someone this far off her rocker. It started out fine - Miranda has a stalker which makes her a bit paranoid and meeting sexy vet, Raul, makes her question her own judgement. And they bond over kittens. But then her stalker goes a step further, Miranda pours herself into Raul’s dream without consulting him and then one little mistep from Raul and Miranda is angry that his dream is more important than she is, which by the way, was completely her doing and it’s all in her head. She went a bit off the deep end. Now Raul has been with her for three weeks and instead of doing the intelligent thing and backing away from the woman who has clearly lost his mind, he sticks around for her and sees her through her craziness. I just couldn’t like Miranda...and the way she’d go all, I don’t care if he doesn’t love me, as long as I’m not alone, was SO not healthy and kinda took some of the romance out of it.

Raul Chandrasekar is a veterinarian who would like to be able to run his own business but money is a huge problem. One day a cat comes in that reminds him of his last cat, Penny, that was taken by his ex-girlfriend years ago.
Miranda's cat seems to have a problem eating and when she takes him to the vet she is attracted to his vet, Raul, but when he claims that this is his old cat she realizes she may have a problem. Miranda wonders if Raul could be a the stalker that has haunted her for the past few years.
As Miranda and Raul become friends the two begin to assist each other. Miranda helps Raul with his business dreams and Raul helps Miranda with her cat. But soon Miranda realizes that her stalker problems may not be over yet.
This was a fun story and I was super curious on who the stalker was and how everything was going to play out.
I liked Raul and the story on his past and whether he was going to be deemed "successful" or not. He was obviously a great guy and I liked the lengths he went to help Miranda with the kittens.
I enjoyed that Miranda was a successful gamer as I love when women have jobs that are traditionally done by men and are successful at it! I definitely found her stalker part interesting but I wish there was a little bit more of how that relationship developed!
Video game designer (and all around kickass webmistress) Miranda has experienced some unsettling events in the last few years and knows she's being stalked but is unable to determine the culprit. It makes her wary and cautious, for good reason. When she brings in her cat to a vet in her area, Raul, they both get a surprise, when it turns out her cat used to be his. And, that kittens are imminent! Though at first suspicious of the coincidence, she soon realizes it's just that, a coincidence and they swiftly form a friendship, then become lovers. There are some steamy scenes between them as their relationship heats up, and some action packed scenes especially later on when the stalker plot really comes into play. I loved having Miranda work in what's usually considered a male dominated field and that Raul was just as impressed with her skills. He comes across as a really nice guy hero (and a talented lover) and gets to put his protective hat on when she confides in him her stalker problems. I enjoyed this story, and found it to be a real page turner.

Miranda brings her cat to the vet for a checkup. Raul aka Dr. C recognizes the cat as his long lost cat from 10 years ago. Come to find out Lola is pregnant.. Dr. Raul stops by Miranda's to check on the cat/kittens and they find a heated passion between them
Miranda is being stalked and doesn't tell Raul. Is Raul actually her stalker or is he truly falling love with her..
Lots of things happen for the couple, can they find happiness? Very good read
I received an ARC of this Anthology for an honest review.
This is such a purrfect installment in the Gone Geek series! I kinda think this one is my favorite. Runty McRunt-Pants! I love it. This book is filled with one awesome female lead, a hunky vet, and lots of adorable kitties! If you love quirky and geeky, then read this book! I think out of all the geek girls, Miranda is a favorite!
Miranda is a video game designer who is living with the fact that someone is stalking her, the police are unable to find the culprit. She tries to live as normal as can day, day by day, when she has to take her kitty cat to the vet, a surprise awaits, as the vet is the original owner of her cat, quite a story there which I’ll leave for you to find out when you read it yourself. They start off a friendship that turns into more.
What’s not to love about a hunky vet, and one who appreciates Miranda’s geekiness. I couldn’t wait to find out how the author resolves the stalker issue and was glad it is finally over and they found out who it was. I’m a big fan of this author and especially this series, can’t wait to read the next one!
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
I am ensnared with this series! Women into cosplay, gaming and geeks! Yay! A word of warning, there are situations which might be triggers. Yet for me I couldn't stop reading. Unfortunately I've read them out of sequence but have been able to keep up. The Gone Geek series deals with a group of women who came together for cosplay. They've suffered and been victimized yet push not to be victims. The author does not downplay what they've survived. She writes enticing storylines with intelligence, humor, and compassion as well as understanding. If she is new for you keep her in your sights, as for me I'll be hoarding whatever she writes!
I cannot click this book fast enough when I heard it'd be out as a part of an analogy. I mean hot guy, cute cats, hot guy holding cute cats, and geeky girl I just gotta have it. Will I say its purrfect? ehh not exactly I feel like they were moving too fast - meet kiss bam love - but I still love the series getting my hands all over book 3 later.
