Maverick Martinique’s life has become far more complicated now that she has joined the cause to assassinate Senator Michael Greenstreet. She’s immediately tasked with keeping the details of her complicated cover story straight, navigating the murky waters of a dangerous social circle, and looking for a mysterious room within the senator’s mansion that will open up communication with Mars.
Apparently, the killing part comes later.
All her hard work depends on Greenstreet buying the ruse, but he doesn’t seem interested. His hostility toward Mav isn’t veiled at all, and he makes something perfectly clear in their first encounter—one misstep and Mav is as good as dead.
Author, husband, father, klutz. Master of forgetting keys and remembering every stupid thing he's ever done. Writing is how he joins the song that story sings. Tortured ISFJ. Writes scifi and other stuff. Am I still talking about myself? Is it hot in here? Just me? *Faints.*
Eep, Mav is back, and so is her snarky attitude and quick wit. I was excited to return to familiar faces and get to know newer characters like Jacob. I enjoyed the interactions between Mav and Jacob. Both sweet and intense moments between the two. The author maintained a good handle of his cast and worldbuilding, which by the way, I had no trouble following. I wouldn’t consider the sci-fi elements to be overly complex. Easy to follow and picture.
With this 2nd sci-fi episode, it’s fun action and good humor. Entertaining all around. Looking forward to hopping over to episode 3 of this series.
