Having someone accept you for who you are flaws and all is the best thing ever. That's truly what love is. Katrina Sweet found herself in love with a man 20 plus years her junior and famous to boot. Jagger Adkins, front man for a boy band,, met Katrina and devised ways to have her as his own. Their relationship was unconventional, but the love was real. Through the ultimate of tests and trials, they made it.
Cute romance between older woman and younger guy. Both on a path to finding themselves on their own and then with each other. Jagger's pursuit of Katrina isn't easily discouraged. They do face obstacles and some detours, so read how they get to the other side!
I’ve been a fan of Ms Lace for a while now, so ‘Sweet Love’ was a very long time coming as she hasn’t written in a good while! So naturally, when I saw this book, I just had to read it and wow, the long wait was well worth it. I thoroughly enjoyed the story from start to finish and while I was initially wary of the huge age gap, the author wrote Jagger in a way that showed him being mature for his age.
I loved how Jagger and Katrina hit it off from the start, and how Jagger was not just some snivelling, young lad trying to get with a cougar - Jagger took control because he was an alpha, a sweet, funny and charming alpha. The thing for me that Ms Lace does far better than many other authors of this genre is humour - I’m not sure if it’s quite by design or accident, but I howled in laughter in many parts of the story, I just loved it.
While I get Katrina’s hesitation, I was a little disappointed that she was fixated on the age thing, using it as the reason for her not being keen on marriage. I’m keeping my fingers crossed there’ll be a sequel where we’ll see Jagger working to change Katrina’s mind.
Now why the 4* and not 5* rating, I hear you ask? As much as I love Ms Lace to bits and I don’t deny she’s very skilled at what she does, the book is littered with typos - wrong spellings, missing words, wrong word choices etc If this book were proofread and well-edited to the standard I feel it deserves, it would deserve a rating beyond 5* - yes, I enjoyed it THAT much. I say this from a place of love.
I enjoyed this May/December love story between rock star Jagger and mature Katrina. Jagger is incognito in drug rehab when he wanders into Katrina’s family sweet shop. When she assumes he is there about the part time job, he goes along and is soon working there and enjoying the structure. Even though she is more than two decades older than he is, Jagger finds himself spiraling deeper and deeper in love. This story is complex....love, addiction, fame, age gap, divorce, murder, loss of parents, suicide are just some of the themes explored. The book had some typos and grammatical errors....enough to distract but not hinder this interesting story.
This book was very interesting. The older female /younger male concept hooked me up from the first line. I personally liked the fact this was an interracial romance. However there were a lot of grammatical and spelling errors, that put me off at times. As well as omissions in certain sentences that made reading this book a little less fluid. Despite the obvious editing mistakes; altogether the plot was solid. I really enjoyed this novel. I look forward to reading another book from this author.
Loved this story, at first I thought Jason/Jagger might be way to young for Kat but Lola Lace made it work. Very well written, Kat acted her age , was a Great Mom and Feisty, Jagger was very young but he absolutely adored her and Never Backed Down.. These two were Wonderful Together and they just Fit. Lola Lace you've done it again..
It started out ok…then the age difference was just too much to over look. Katrina was 44 and Jagger was 20…Maybe I’m just a prude but I thought that was kind of cringy. Then around 60% in the wheels completely fell off this story and I just list complete interest. Also it way way too many grammatical errors.
I like OWYM stories and this one didn't disappoint. The celebrity angle and the substance misuse was a nice twist to ramp up the older woman's anxiety levels. I liked both characters and would love to read a follow on book. Looking forward to reading more of this author's work.
This is not your typical romance. It deals with a lot of issues but not in a preachy way. The last few chapters have a bombshell. I love how the actions after is very real world. There are times the heroine seems washy but great sex and love will make you break some of your nevers.
Ashame about all the editing issues in the last couple of chapters but really enjoyable story. Nice to see a reverse age gap where they get the HEA despite the difficulties it brings.
Oh Jagger and Katrina...Older woman, younger man this was epic Love the dynamic between both of them Katrina didn't wanna take a chance on love again and he was persistent... Would highly recommend And a definite reread
This book was so dope! I throughly enjoyed the fact it was a older woman younger man aspect! I highly recommend this book Jagger was everything and Kat was so awesome.
This was my first Lolah Lace book, and I really enjoyed it!
It was a reverse age gap romance with a young rockstar, Jagger, who is sorta banished to a small town in Illinois to get his life together. In the course of his recovery, he meets Katrina who is in the town for the summer watching over the candy store that she and her siblings took over.
Jagger gets himself hired at the store so he can be closer to her. I loved the banter and friendship that built up between Jagger and Katrina throughout the story. He made it clear he was interested in her, and her hesitation made sense. Not only was there a huge age gap but she had a kid his same age, and one that she was still caring for who was a teenager.
I love that this summer fling turned into a real romance and the obstacles they had to deal with were realistic. The ending was a bit non-traditional, but I enjoyed that for this story.
