This book was okay.
Madison inherited a Castle in Scotland from her Uncle. But it has a lot of work to be done. As her money dwindles she can only keep three American workers. Julien is a Mason stone and Chase and Noah are construction workers.
Circumstances come unexpectedly for Madison and she can’t pay the men their salary. Things get hot and steamy between them. I just would have liked to see Madison and Julian as couple!

I REALLY wanted to like author Krista Wolf. Her books have been popping up in my Amazon recommendations for the past few months, each one of them looking more tempting than the last. Quadruple Duty? Sharing Hannah? The Christmas Toy? Yes, please, to all of the above! So when I had the opportunity to review an ARC of Unconventional, I immediately volunteered as tribute. I'd never read reverse harem before, but it seemed like something I would enjoy. The general concept here was good: a young woman inherits a Scottish castle and needs to get it up-to-code or else the county will repossess the property. The restorations have drained her bank account, and she can no longer afford to pay her three (remarkably attractive) construction workers. They come to an unconventional payment arrangement. Yes, it's the plot of every adult movie ever. ("You can't pay for the pizza? Well, I know how you can make it up to me . . ." Cue bow-chicka-wow-wow.) But it's a classic because it works. And I was 100% willing to go along with Wolf on this wild adventure.
But there were just too many things getting in the way of my reading pleasure. First of all, why was this book set in Scotland? It created a lot of unnecessary problems for almost no reward. She could have just as easily set this book in a crumbling manor-house in the USA. She kept writing about these sweaty construction worker men, taking their shirts off and languishing in the summer heat. I don't know if Wolf has ever been to Scotland in the summer, but we're lucky to get a week of sunshine all year. One of the biggest adjustments when I moved up here was wearing hoodies and jackets from June-August. Yet somehow this foursome is stripping off their clothes and jumping into the nearby loch. (Good luck to you, friends.) Still, I would have overlooked those smaller details if not for one glaring problem:
All three of the construction workers were US citizens.
We get some brief backstory on them, but not enough to answer the thousands of questions that popped up while reading this book. Did any of these guys have legal visas? Are they doing under-the-table work to pay their bills? Are they worried about being deported? (That would have made the book way more interesting, and it would have explained a lot. Like why they initially stuck with Madison instead of moving on to other jobs. It can be really challenging to find jobs that pay exclusively in cash.) As someone who recently went through the UK immigration process (coming from the US), I was absolutely baffled by how any of these people were living and working overseas. Especially the one who has a criminal record. I kept waiting for an explanation, but (spoilers) you never get one. Again, I know that erotica isn't supposed to be rooted in cold hard facts, but when there are so many of these little details that don't line up, it really pulls you out of the moment. Plus, if you set a book in Scotland, why wouldn't you feature Scottish men as the romantic interests? Like, okay, US construction workers can be sexy, but Scotland is world-famous for its mouth-watering Highland (and Lowland!) studs. Take advantage of your location, and give us some drop-dead gorgeous accents! And throw in a special occasion kilt or two if you want!
On the topic of Unconventional's love interests, they are all (ironically) really conventional. They're cookie-cutter attractive. They're all perfectly nice to the heroine and to each other. Apart from some slight differences in their backstories and "personality quirks" (one has a cat! one struggled with gambling!), they're basically the same guy times three. The heroine, meanwhile, frequently acts without thinking of others. She eventually acknowledges how selfish she's been, but the guys are all quick to forgive her instead of ever calling her out on her bull****. I like romances where all of the characters become better through knowing each other. But none of them really grew during this book. Also, why were these three guys so chill about sharing one woman? I would have liked to have seen that explored much more in this book.
It seems like Wolf has a rapid release system going on, which is super commendable! I could never crank out books at the rate she is! (Good for you, girl!) But I do wonder if dedicating a little more time to the revision process could result in some stronger romances. I'd try another Krista Wolf book in the future, but only if it had a hook that was irresistible.

This was so hot, I almost got heat stroke!
What a great read, it was quick and steamy and had a bit of mystery to top it off. Madison is a good main character, she's sweet and caring and not afraid to tell the guys what she wants. The three men were very sexy, especially Julian. They're strong and capable and want to take care of Madison. I liked that she rolled up her sleeves and helped with the labor, she wasn't weak or helpless.
The mystery around the castle and why there are shady things going on was simple and pretty easy to figure out, but I liked seeing the four of them come together to save the castle and forge a strong relationship.
There is a ton of romance, it's basically non stop and I loved it! The scenes were well written and definitely painted a pretty picture. I devoured this all at once, highly recommend!

Unfortunately, this one wasn't for me. I could barely get through the first half of the book and had to DNF it.
The writing was very juvenile to me and the main woman character was just... not for me. Overall I just didn't like this book which is a shame because it has a gorgeous cover and intriguing synopsis.

Fun Story w Twists
Loan sharks, crooked government officials, mysterious trespassers, hidden treasures, and more make this steamy story more than just how three big hot guys found themselves sharing one woman. Madison is in over her head trying to finish her uncle's passion project. When the money runs out, things take a fantastic change in direction. Noah, Chase, and Julian are drool-worthy specimens that take her as payment. There are some scary and rough moments but they add to the excitement of the book.

This book is absolutely brilliant. With a hot sexy storyline and even hotter and sexier characters it is definitely a winner for me. I love how these characters work together to find happiness. Mysterious things are happening and the guys propose to stay around even when Madison can't pay them. The men also want to share her. Madison has been flirting with all the men and doesn't find it hard to be with them. This is a steamy, sexy read with mystery and plenty of sexy times.

After the death of her uncle two years ago Madison was given an opportunity to own Westgate Castle. But it comes with a stipulation, that a place of historic significance must be restored it to its original state. Running out of time and money, Madison has let all her contractors go except for Julian, Chase and Noah. When all attempts for extensions and loans are exhausted Madison is faced with letting the last three of her hottest and hardest working employees go.
Julian, Chase and Noah all refuse to quit working on Madison's castle regardless if she can pay them. Insisting dinner is payment enough Madison sadly informs them the next night that there is no dessert. When Julian moves in saying he sees dessert, things quickly change as the three guys begin passing Madison around, and she doesn't mind one bit.
When the county inspector starts changing requirements to the renovations needed the closer she gets to her deadlne Madison and the guys begin to think they'll never accomplish what they need to. Than one mystery has them worried even more while another gives them renewed hope.

Very good unconventional very steamy ménage romance. Madison went to Scotland to help her ailing uncle. She learned once he passed that she’s the new owner of his castle and if it isn’t fixed exactly as the permit states she’ll loose it. As the funds run low she has to make layoffs only three of the guys won’t leave. Julian’s a handsome stonemason who likes Madison a lot. Chase and Noah do specialized construction work at the castle and also want Madison. Others are causing issues for them to deal with. I received a complementary copy of the book via Hidden Gems and chose to write a review. I look forward to reading future books by Ms Wolf.

Wow! An amazing plot, with lots of exciting drama, suspense, surprises, unexpected twists and turns, and hot sex! The characters are awesome three hot,sexy men, a beautiful woman, sneaky, evil guys, and Kitty! Their are emotions are so strong you feel them, their desperation, exhaustion, fear, hope, happiness, and love. You root for them to finish in time, for all three to love her, for them to find the treasure and time for each other. Will they meet the deadline, save the castle, find the treasure, love each other, or is it to late?

Another great story
What can I say Krista Wolf did it again. Another amazing story of four people connection in an unconventional way with each character having they own demons to fight but with each others help finding a way to fight them and loosen the burden
And of course dont forgett the hot steamy scenes which make you all flustered and flush yourself.

I was actually in Scotland whilst reading this book and I can tell you that the heat and summer that was described is not realistic at all. Scotland is never really ‘hot’ and definitely not for prolonged periods. Anyhooo, I did enjoy the rest of the story. The guys, the castle and the little suspense and mystery. Of course the spice was nothing to sneeze at either ;-) all in all an entertaining read that will keep you warm…⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I really liked this story it has romance, lots of hard work, love of family, a little mystery, and lots of great sex!! Our mfc Madison is great she had family loyalty and respected her laborers for all of their hard work! Our mmc’s are Julian, Noah and Chase! I love all of them! They each had a hard life and I think that’s what brought them together! I love the four of them as a family unit and can’t wait for what the future holds for them!

Loved the steam between these characters. I loved the fact that each guy could have been jealous and combative for her attention, but they chose to work together to save her and her inheritance. I loved how she was determined to not give up and continued to do what she could to keep what was hers. Good read!

Holy Heck
Right from the beginning Krista quite literally throws us in! Can I just say, the chemistry created between Madison, Julian, Noah and Chase is something else! I love how things played out for them. I do wish there were some more details in some things that happened throughout the book, but I don’t want to spoil anything. It was definitely an enjoyable read.

Unconventional: Madison and Julian and Chase and Noah
Reverse harem can be tricky. It's frequently more gratuitous sexy times and not so much character or plot development. This book was a pleasant surprise since it included plenty of scorching sex but also an interesting plot line and enough emotional growth to tie it all together.

Storyline isn’t overly complicated I would say it’s a secondary aspect to the relationship building and smut in the book.
I’d give it 4 stars tho

A castle, a princess, and …….
This is so hot readers will definitely need a fan and some way to preserve their melted Kindles. I loved the setting and especially Julien, Chase and Noah. The ending was a bit of a stretch, but interesting in the denouement. Part was predictable, but the perpetrators were a bit of a surprise.
All in all, a must-read for KW fans!

The book was fine. I liked that there was a mystery element to the story. I don’t know what it was about the book though that just made me not want to
read it. i enjoyed the characters; yet i found myself only reading a few pages and then abandoning it for days at a time.

Okay I’m officially obsessed with this author. The spice is spicy, the suspense is suspenseful and the mystery is mysterious. What more could you want in a book? Definitely adding this one to my reread list: I only wish we would have gotten a second bonus epilogue. I would have liked to read about their future

What girl doesn't want a castle? With 3 got guys to help you fix it up? I'm a big fan of Ms Wolf because she's the best at writing reverse harem. Her characters make you want more.

I had this book for about a month and it was a challenge to finish. I think it sat at about 1 chapter in for almost the entire month until I forced myself to finish. The book was ok but to be honest, I skimmed most of it so I could just get to the end and see how the storyline played out.

Great read
This is a great story. It has well rounded characters, Grandma Helen is a hoot. The story flows without gaps. Oh and the sex scenes are mind blowing. So is Grandma Helen's description of sex.
This is a great story. It has well rounded characters, Grandma Helen is a hoot. The story flows without gaps. Oh and the sex scenes are mind blowing. So is Grandma Helen's description of sex.
