The VR Initiative created a virtual reality to save the planet from overpopulation and environmental destruction. But the creation and its controller, The VR Corporation, may destroy the very thing that makes us human. The Initiative founders intended for it to be our savior, not our slaver.
The year is 2149. After spending eighteen years in the VR, Laura Maverik awakes from her virtual sanctuary. She's anxious to return to her life in the VR. But forces reveal a different utopia than the one she thought she lived in.
Her anxiety is driving her back to the VR but her curiosity is keeping her in the real world. Which will win out? And what will she do when she learns of her deceased parents’ legacy? Can Laura help restore the humanity of the human race before it’s too late?
My creativity is powered by freshly purchased notebooks, ballpoint pens, and caffeinated beverages. As a long-time fan of science fiction (in all its forms), I often write in a science fiction universe, but occasionally wander into the realms of fantasy, poetry, comedy, or all of the above! In addition to writing, I also produces a science podcast (Blinded by Science) and a haiku podcast (The Haiku Pond). Learn more at anthonynanfito.com.
