I really enjoy books with a western theme so this was right up my alley! I loved how Maddie embraced her new life with a passion and was grateful for it. There's something very appealing about a cowboy and a man who knows what he wants. This story was a pleasure to read!

I want to cry. This book is so bad I want to cry. Have I become a misogynistic pig just by reading this?

Cliff needs to get crushed by Buford the bull please and stop treating Maddie like a damsel in distress just because 'bull riding is dangerous for women'.

Maddie needs to get that heart checked because damn does that pulse fluctuate 475727 times a page.

The author needs to write something good and needs to embrace the fact that all this book does is reinforce gender roles into society.

It's bad guys, it's really really bad.

I liked this book and for once, the male love interest was the perfect cowboy for this book. He was kind and respectful, and protective in a way that made sense. Meanwhile, the female main character was making stupid decisions that even with her backstory, didn't quite make enough sense to me. Still, it was a fun and enjoyable read.

The story itself had a lot of potential. I really liked Maddie and Cliff both. The author did a good job of portraying their attraction to each other as well as what was going on around them. I found myself enjoying the town she'd created and all of the difference characters that came into play throughout the book. She did a good job of creating a world from which she can draw for many additions to the series.

I did feel she rushed the story. I wanted to see Maddie's interactions with her partners on the farm more, to strengthen my understanding of their friendship and bonds. I think creating more interest in those characters is what draws someone to the next book in a series. When the story ended, I found myself blinking and wondering where the rest of it was. I saw there was an epilogue and I thought maybe that would help me come away not feeling like it was quite so abrupt only to find that it was actually an excerpt from the next book.

There were also a lot of errors in the book. A lot and they kept taking my attention from the story. In some places, the incorrect word was used. In others, it was an extra word. Mostly, there were misplaced commas throughout.

I hope that the author has the book edited and puts a revised version out because the story really does have a lot of potential - that's the main reason I read through until the end. I've stopped reading books with less errors than this one has.

This is a sweet and simple tale of new love, old fears and two people trying awfully hard to do the right thing. Maddie is a stong-willed, stubborn, feisty heroine. Coming from a past that was not so kind, Maddie is co-owner of a TX ranch and doing her very best to make it in a man's world. Cliff Masterson is a championship bull rider. Taking 'no' for an answer is not his specialty. Maddie and Cliff struggle individually and together with issues that are touching and tough. Thinking it might be time to find a place to call home, Cliff and Maddie meet under dangerous circumstances and it is sparks at first sight. The town of Mule Hollow is filled with characters that promise interesting stories ahead. Debra Clopton weaves a story that touches your heart, makes you laugh out loud and might even draw a tear to your eye. I loved narrating this story and look forward to the next in this series. Working with talented and absolutely lovely Debra Clopton is a delight! Hope you enjoy listening!

It was just ok. It was a quick, straight to the point kind of story. Things happened, but the time elapsed too fast and I thought some important detail was left out. Like when Maddie and Cliff went on their 'date', it didn't really explain how it went or even what they talked about that much. And then the next thing you know it's the next day without even mentioning how the night before ended.

Maddie built a wall within herself so big people couldn't break through. No one really wants to feel vulnerable, but it's important to be vulnerable, no matter how hard it may be. We shouldn't keep our emotions bottled up or pretend that we don't feel those bad emotions/keep our guard up. It's okay to not be okay. it's okay to ask for help. It's okay to let people in. We shouldn't feel that we area burden to others since we don't know what they have been through either until that wall is brought down, brick by brick, and we let ourselves become vulnerable.

I didn't realize this was a novella going in, so I was a little surprised by how quickly everything happened. I thought it was a cute read although a tad repetitive at times. Cliff was a likable character, I kept picturing the guy from the movie The Longest Ride, since he was a bull rider also. I liked how he saw through
Maddie's walls and was willing to push his way into her heart. Maddie was likable and finally at a point in her life were she is ready to take some chances. I thought they were cute together. Their courtship was a little too fast for me, but I think it bothered me more since I was expecting a full-length novel (my fault for not checking beforehand). Overall, a cute read and one I'd recommend if you like contemporary western romance.

"Her Texas Cowboy" is the revised version and formerly titled "Her Mule Hollow Cowboy" by Debra Clopton. It is also book 1 of the New Horizon Ranch series. As of August 15, 2016-there are currently 8 books to this series.
I have read a couple books by this author and have absolutely loved them! Who doesn't like reading clean romances about handsome cowboys??!!
I was able to buy this ebook for free from Amazon. It's a great way to get started with a new series.
Maddie Rose, a spunky cowgirl, decides to prove her worth to her fellow partners after inheriting some of the New Horizon Ranch.
This ebook is 148 pages, so about half the size of a typical story. It was a little rushed but still a good steady plot and character development.
Clean, christian romance that doesn't disappoint! I can't wait to read more in this series.

"Her Mule Hollow Cowboy" by Debra Clopton

My Thoughts.....

This was a wonderfully written sweet contemporary romantic quick read. The author does a good job at keeping the readers attention because one will not want to put it down until the end. I loved how these two Maddie and Cliff were brought come together. With Maddie getting adjusted to his new life and Cliff now ready to settle down will they be able to find happiness? Be ready for a good novella read that will have the reader even laughing out loud. Would I recommend? YES!

A contemporary western novella, this story is very sweet. I really enjoyed watching the relationship develop between Cliff and Maddie. There is so much for Maddie to overcome in order to learn to trust and let herself take a chance on love. Watching her emotional growth through the story and Cliff’s patience with her is very sweet.

This was a good "get away" story. A short romance which was predicable but if you like westerns and horses, this is a good one to read. I liked it..and there are many more from this author to read about the other characters in the book. So once you start, the story will lead to another story and another one until you read all of them.

I read a couple of the other stories about the New Horizon Ranch which were out of order since this was the first story. But that has not changed the fact that I liked this story just as much as the others. They all seem to have their own story line and can be read out of order.

I loved learning about Maddie and why she is the strong, independent woman that she was. It was interesting learning why she refused to let anyone in to her heart and why she worked so hard.

Cliff is one of those men who comes face to face with himself after many years of running away from his emotions. What he never expected to happen was the fact that there could be a real reason to settle down and stop running.

While you assume that the story will have a happy ending, heck most romance novels do, that did not take away from the story. I enjoyed reading it and loved the insight that the characters brought to real life and people you might actually know. It sheds light on the reasons why some people do the things they do or don’t do.

I enjoyed the story because of its western setting. I have always enjoyed westerns, and this glimpse of professional bull riding and ranching made for a great story.

Maddie had been so sad all of her life, looking for something she thought she would never find. Abandoned as a child with no memories of a family of her own, she resists the very thing she wants most for fear of being hurt again. Finally having her dreams fulfilled through Cliff's love and their mutual faith made for a sweet, refreshing romance.

The secondary characters were typical of small-town life. They played a supporting role in the novel and were a delightful addition.

I have learned that this is an eight book series, so will definitely be checking out the other handsome cowboys Debra has in store for her readers!

Trusting & finding dreams realized

A working cattle ranch/brothers & an orphan bring mix to the story as Maddie finds herself in Mule Hollow and looking for a job, finds a place to settle into. As a older brother comes home and finds Maddie in trouble trying to load a bull in a trailer. Needing help, though she is obstinate about him helping her. Cliff is a bull rider & sees her fly into the air landing right in front of the path of the bull, takes action immediate to keep Maddie from getting killed. The story continues with two strong personalities with the past hurts. Will they trust each other to see their goals/dreams come true. Quick read-action packed with a great ending.

So much to like about this book - the characters, the setting, family values, the humor, and the community of Mule Hollow. Even though Maddie's life is affected by having been abandoned as a baby, she still has plenty of spunk. Cliff is a professional bull rider who comes to town to visit his twin brother, Rafe, after having learned of their Dad's death. The first meeting between Maddie and Cliff has sparks flying as he rescues her from being stomped on by Buford, the bull she was trying to load into a trailer to take to auction for sale. The only question is - will they be able to resist the sparks or will they give in?

A nice, sweet romance between a bull rider, Clint, who is wanting to change his life, and Maddie, part owner of a ranch with 4 cowboys.
Maddie has trouble trusting and opening her life to others because she was abandoned as a very young baby, and grew up in an orphanage and in foster homes without any love
When Cliff comes to the ranch, it is love at first sight for him when he rescues Maddie. He wants to care for and protect her, but he has his work cut out for him. Maddie is very independent and a spit-fire, especially with the wall around her heart.

A Cute Cowboy Love Story

He stepped in and protected her from a bull trampling her.
Fiercely independent, she had insisted on being treated like any one of the four cowboys who were like brothers to her.
The five had inherited a beautiful cattle ranch together. He had arrived in the nick of time to rescue her when her strength proved too little to save herself. As an unwanted orphan then foster child, rejection taught her not to believe she could be loved. He proved she was just perfect for him.

Maddie and Cliff work through the past and have a future!

HER TEXAS COWBOY (New Horizon Ranch: Mule Hollow #1)
by Debra Clopton is a story of 2 good people with issues and attitudes to overcome. Maddie was a orphan raised in foster homes and felt she had to prove herself. Cliff, the professional bull rider, lost his mother at an early age and had difficulties with his father. With a little help from the Mule Hollow Matchmakers, and honest discussions between themselves, they finally came to care for each other.
I wished their story had gone on a few more chapters.

n 1922, Count Alexander Rostov is deemed an unrepentant aristocrat by a Bolshevik tribunal, and is sentenced to house arrest in the Metropol, a grand hotel across the street from the Kremlin. Rostov, an indomitable man of erudition and wit, has never worked a day in his life, and must now live in an attic room while some of the most tumultuous decades in Russian history are unfolding outside the hotel's doors. Unexpectedly, his reduced circumstances provide him entry into a much larger world of emotional discovery.

AKA Her Texas Cowboy

Skimmed the last few chapters. She lost me when she called a nursing cow a heifer. And then the hero--a PBR bullrider--called it a calf. And he has plans to start a rough stock business supplying bulls to rodeos. HA! And he seems to think he only needs bulls. Well, I guess if he doesn't plan to do any breeding, that might work. But it's not going to work well.

It's like the author couldn't be bothered to do her research. And it's not even tough research.

I think I have another of her books on my kindle, but I'll be deleting them both.

A short story. It really needed a little extra time building the relationship, and a little less time with the "I'm not worthy" monologues. This squeaky clean romance lacked chemistry. The story was ok till the out of the blue a Bible reference and quote were dropped into the text, for no other purpose then to tell the reader that our h is a great pious person. There were also grammar/editing issues and wrong word usage that was very distracting. Overall, this story was mediocre at best. At least it was short so you don't feel like you wasted too much of your time.
