Peter “Penis” Caldwell (nickname bestowed courtesy of popular jock, Jackson Davis) didn’t necessarily have a lot of things going for him.

2. He attended high school in a small town that was as bigoted as it was boring. (Having the audacity to stand out was considered a major character flaw.)
3. He was maybe, sort of, a little bit (a lot) gay.
Not that anyone knew that last one.
None of that meant, however, that Peter was prepared for the consequences when he is bitten by a giant wolf during a reckless night of teenage adventure.
Consequences that smack him right in the face when he is simultaneously saved and snatched by a (hugely-muscled, obscenely handsome)... mentally-imbalanced man who’s convinced that he’s a long-distance relation of Jacob Black. That’s right: werewolf.
Mr. Big and Bad claims Peter is one, too, now that he’s bitten him.
The only thing worse than being kidnapped by a crazy person? A crazy person who’s right.
Forced to adjust to pack life in a hidden society, Peter’s not sure what he longs to do more: throttle the man who’s bitten him and ruined his life so conclusively, or throw himself on Mr. Big and Bad’s ridiculously firm… lap.

I know, I know, I know. Shame on me. I should have just DNFd this once I got moving. Actually, right at the beginning when I felt this was a total Sterek rip-off I should have quit. I didn’t. I kept going and now here we are. I just had to know what was going to happen and where this story was going. So yeah, shame on me because this was bad.
Let’s start at the end with this:
What the fuck does that even mean? Did she write this book before and now take that book and switch the girl for a boy? Did she sell that M/F book and is now selling it as M/M? Um, these things are not interchangeable! There is no hiding the fact she left this note FOR THE END OF THE BOOK for a reason!
That last sentence? Is she claiming that this isn’t based on Teen Wolf and this is her original story? Some of the names for sure she changed but so many were the same even if they weren’t the same people. Peter, Scott, Jackson, Beacon (not Hills but the hospital was called Beacon), even the club was called Jungle. Peter’s Dad is the Sheriff. There are Hunters. Half the time Peter drove a Jeep and the other half he drove a Blazer so I think at some point she thought of making changes but then maybe just gave up? A simple find and replace could have taken Teen Wolf out of this completely, but she left it and is now claiming the words are hers? The words maybe but for sure not the idea…
This was bad. The editing was non-existent. There were so many errors and not just with the story. I can normally let some editing errors go but no, this didn’t seem to be even proofed before it was released into the wild. And the story? More holes than Swiss cheese guys. Nothing flowed or made sense. No connection. There was no conversation. It was like this happens, next thing happens, do this, do that but no one talked no one explained. Nothing. Where was the emotion? There was DEATH and then it was like it didn’t happen. This was just so terrible.
So, I should have quit. I know I should have. I’m just not a quitter and I just had to see. Ugh.
Looks like all the other reviewers really loved it so it is probably just me.
PS~Does anyone know the pen name she used when she wrote M/F? Just curious.

Little Red is a variation of a story that has been repurposed/revamped/rewritten by me. It was plotted as a M/M story many years ago, but written and published as a M/F title under a pen name. It’s been thrilling to go back to it and transform it into the story that, in my mind, it was always meant to be. Rest assured, despite previous (similar) publications, all words/rights are mine. Peter is a 17-year-old teenager who has his life turned over when he is bitten by a giant red-eyed wolf. His life turns to hell, he loses his parents and is taken to another country to live with a pack of wolves.
It looks a bit like that teen wolf series (which I only watched because of a gay couple that only existed in my mind 😂).
I'm a good thing we have enough gay books now to please us and we don't have to kid ourselves with series 😅
Between Teen wolf and this book.. I'd choose that book! Peter is an interesting protagonist, he is a boy who does not surrender easy. He's determined, stubborn and cute at the same time.
Besides, your chemistry with Damon is very good. Damon is a man of few words and lots of action, I love characters like Damon and Peter, their differences formed a good combination.
The other characters in the pack are cool, but it took a few moments for me to like them more. I wanted more moments with Luca and the others.

What the fuck??? In the end, the writer claimed that this story was written and published as M/F under another pen name of her.
This is fucking awful. You don't recycle the same material and just change the fucking gender. And Her "rewrite" has so many grammatical and spelling errors... Don't make me laugh.
Putting the disclaimer in the END of the book not only shows this author's dishonesty, but also shows her shameful behavior of trying to trick readers. No second chance for this writer. Please stop polluting the MM romance circle.

Teen Wolf YA Novel - Caution!!
The author leaves a note at the very end stating that this novel has been repurposed from M/F to M/M. I still dont know if this is a marketing scheme by KU click farm authors and ghost writers. The author also never states what her M/F pen name is, which leads me to believe that they do NOT want readers to find the M/F book and compare its similarities. So far another book hasnt been released.
Aside from that, the book is not MM Romance, its definitely YA. The MC is still a 17 year old throughout the novel. I read this thinking that there would be a time skip somewhere, but there was not, not even in the end.
If it were properly categorized i would have never read it because not only do I hate reading YA, i hate how whiny and stereotypically “teen” the main character was. Thought it would change and he would grow in the books but i was wrong.
Not happy about a lot of things in the novel and will be putting this author in the DNR/caution pile for now.

The most important thing to be aware of is that this is a YA novel. I knew that the MC was young but I thought he would mature in the story taking this into more NA territory. This is not the case in this story but may eventually be true if the author continues the series. So if you are expecting any heat, you'll have to wait it out. All there is currently are 2 attempted rape scenes and 2 kissing scenes. That's not necessarily a bad thing, I love a good slow burn, but it is something I like to know going into a book.
So taking into consideration the MC's age and lack of maturity the high number of well intentioned but foolish decisions is not so shocking. What was shocking was the treatment of Peter by adults. The love interest and his pack are all supposed to be in their 20s and they are unnecessarily cruel to Peter many times. Seemingly under the guise of knowing better but sometimes they are cruel just to be cruel and further their own ends. Therefore any romantic feelings should be questioned because Peter is not an equal partner in the relationship as he is kept ignorant and belittled for his naivety. It is entirely plausible that the romantic feelings he has are a result of genuine Stockholm Syndrome. Admittedly, I love dark romances and kidnapping themes are common there but usually the partner in the wrong has to make serious changes and apologies before the relationship can become genuine. That doesn't happen in this book and I don't foresee it from Damon anytime soon. Additionally, it is somewhat questionable to write books with such serious themes for younger audiences.
I had one other minor quibble. It seemed to me that there were multiple instances of making fun of the twilight series. Seeing as this book is also a carbon copy of many of the plot lines of Twilight but also has a problematic portrayal of a teen relationship, I don't think it's fair to degenerate another series. That being said, I still read this book in one sitting. It was enjoyable to read. It's just unfortunate that instead of rooting for the consummation of true love, I was instead rooting for the MC to overcome the TSTL syndrome that authors commonly depict characters his age having and for him to leave the manipulative Damon so some serious groveling on his part could begin.

Before I gush about how much I loved this book, there are a few things to address up front. There are so many sentences in parentheses and it drove me crazy. I understand the author's intent, but it was unnecessary and distracting. Then there are several misused words that absolutely should have been caught during editing. For example, except being used instead of accept. I was irked enough that I had to rate the book 4 stars instead of 5 stars, but they didn't detract from the story enough to ruin it.
Queenie Wise is a brand new author and I chose to read this book because the blurb made me laugh out loud. I was not disappointed; Peter's narration is amusing and his character is well written considering what he experiences. He's very sassy at parts and it was great. I wouldn't mind him being even more sassy in future books.
Now on to the gushing because I seriously loved this book. I wouldn't consider this first book a romance as it's not the focus of the story. Rather the focus is world building and the main character, Peter, learning what werewolves and their society are all about. I had no problems with this because it just fit the story so well. There are no typical tropes from this genre or what I consider caveman behavior (ex. alpha finds mate then insta-love or the mate automatically must submit). This book is action packed, believable, and had great pacing. All of the characters have distinct personalities and are fleshed out; the side characters add a lot to the story and to Peter's character.
My favorite part - this book doesn't just cram Peter's story into its 351 pages nor does it feel like filler/lead up to the second book. It stands on its own and promises a page-turning series.
I absolutely don't want to give anything away. If you like shifter stories even just a little bit, this is a must read. It'd also be a great first-time shifter/paranormal story for someone new to the genre. I can't wait for more! It seems that Peter will remain the focus of the series and I truly hope so. I also hope that the romance becomes more of a focus going forward. I am so excited to read the next book!

This blurb is fairly accurate - but only for the first fourth of the book. The rest? Quite a different story.
We start out with cutie Peter, 17 years old, having the usual teenager troubles, who then gets bitten by a way too big wolf. Teenager issues continue, we get to know some characters, his family, and some of his life.
But then the kidnapping follows. And that's when the only thing that remains of the fun, more light-hearted school-lifey, YA story is essentially the very sassy Peter. I don't want to spoil what happens, but while our MC remains a typical teenager, the story itself isn't really YA anymore. We've got a more serious story , there's bitter grief, and the slow romance is dark. It was a whole different story.
I usually like dark romances, too. This one however is a totally twilight-case. Which makes it more hilarious and ironic that this book dares to diss twilight's creepy romance, but being no single bit better.
I mean, there's intentional isolation with and due to a not so small lie , Damian is physically intimitating Peter occasionally (not so problematic, as he never once hurts him, but still creepy) and oh then there's the whole deciding-nearly-everything-for-Peter-thingie.
Also, obvious power disbalance, dependency on one side, and no equility at all due to age and status.
Controlling, creepy, and cannot leave Peter be. Also, totally obsessive.
How is that different to a stalky vampire watching his love sleep at night?
Anyway. It was well-written, and I liked how Peter and Damian clashed. Sassy rebel vs. controlling, loving alpha is always fun. But I'd never recommend this book as a romance (especially not for any teen). It's as questionable as a romance as twilight or 50 shades of grey, just with a dash of stockholm syndrome.
Still was a fun read though. Just be aware that the tone of the blurb only fits a smaller part of the book, the overall tone is dark.

Good evening all.
Okay so I had fun with this book. Everyone is saying its like a literal copy of Teen Wolf but I have yet to watch Teen Wolf so I have no opinion. Enjoyment is a 4 star but my ,,, comfort lvl is a 3. So I'm giving it a 2. Mostly because of the issues I'll talk about below.
People are also upset about the authors note in the back but I honestly don't have any care for that. Well I don't not care but I literally just cannot bring myself to make a big deal about it. I'm here for entertainment I literally do not care. Other than I'm curious and kind of want to read what the mf version is.
I'm going to start with my main issue. Peter. His age, more specifically. Give me a good reason why he has to be 17. GIVE ME AN ACTUAL GOOD REASON. Other than just for the sake of weirdness. There is none. Easily, to have the school plot, they could've said werewolves are in school until theyre 19-20 and the whole Rites thing is then. Because obviously on top of regular school shit they also have werewolf schooling to do. That makes sense. If my calculations are correct, Damon is maybe 23. It's not the worst thing I've seen to be fair, but its still weird and uncomfortable. I get it, cishet fantasy and pnr has its share of the 16-19 year old heroine and her 1,000 year old possessive boyfriend so its only fair f slurs get it too I guess. And then with him before he was a werewolf, the author could've easily set something else up because he's in a small ass town. Small towns are easy to make community scenes with and shit. So literally theres just no excuse other than Queenie is a weirdo and woke up in the morning and thought, "17 yr old and 20+ year old yay!" WEIRD!
I have KU so I didn't buy the book or whatever. I don't think anyone else should buy this its not buy worthy. Put on your little boots and come aboard the ship making some "ARRRRGGG" noises. ifykyk.
Everything other than the weird age stuff was fine. I guess. I love their little pack. Sirius is the only one who has absolutely 0 characterization though and I find that a little suspicious. Also why is everyone white, blond, and blue eyed? Also suspicious.
I'll read unto the second book and see if I make it through.

I absolutely loved this book for several reasons.
First: there is no sex! A shifter book that is all about story? Almost unheard of, to me, and so very exciting to just get story! I just love that part of book 1.
Second: The story itself was so engaging. I picked it up because I was running out of steam with some other novels and thought it would be something I could dabble a guilty pleasure in and then get back to my other books refreshed and ready to dive back in. Instead I was captured by the story telling and had to consume all three books back to back.
Third: This is the most powerful part to me: a retelling of little red riding hood with gay, MAIN, characters. They don't die. The author illustrates how easy it is to just include us in these worlds without it ruining a story. The story is still balanced, nuanced, and works so very well even without one of the love interests having to be female. It is amazing to me how easy it is to makes this feel like a modern retelling without it feeling any less idealized or in any way wrong.
Fourth: The writing is excellent. The flow of the story is wonderful.
I am absolutely going to turn around and re-read this trilogy so that I can capture what I missed in my first read through. I'm a very fast reader and I know I only retain about 70% of the story & and I crave making sure I know all of it.
The Bad:
First: the rape references and the aftermath of how they come up are not handled well. They feel like the aftermath is glossed over and not given the weight they deserve. This is the reason I didn't give one of the few five star reviews I give. Word to people triggered by this: not the series for you. I wish it were otherwise because I can absolutely say I love these book already - but this is a non-starter if this topic triggers you.
Second: There are Harry Potter references in random places in the book and really J.K. Rowling has no place in our stories. She's a TERF and patronizing to the LGBTQIA+ community. Give us references to authors who actively include us not ones who say, after the fact and with no evidence of a characters non-straight-ness, that we exist in their worlds.
First: there is no sex! A shifter book that is all about story? Almost unheard of, to me, and so very exciting to just get story! I just love that part of book 1.
Second: The story itself was so engaging. I picked it up because I was running out of steam with some other novels and thought it would be something I could dabble a guilty pleasure in and then get back to my other books refreshed and ready to dive back in. Instead I was captured by the story telling and had to consume all three books back to back.
Third: This is the most powerful part to me: a retelling of little red riding hood with gay, MAIN, characters. They don't die. The author illustrates how easy it is to just include us in these worlds without it ruining a story. The story is still balanced, nuanced, and works so very well even without one of the love interests having to be female. It is amazing to me how easy it is to makes this feel like a modern retelling without it feeling any less idealized or in any way wrong.
Fourth: The writing is excellent. The flow of the story is wonderful.

1.5....but knocked down to 1 because of the Author's note... what was that??
I noticed the book because I liked the cover.
So, the book itself is not completely bad, the plot wasn’t rocket science and the characters weren’t too developed but there are quite a few editing/proofreading errors that ended up irritating me. Example: Peter written wrong (Peer) several times, mistaking a character's name for another, and things like that. I'm not so strict that I cannot overlook some typos or things like that, but I think that kind of thing can be easily fixed with another round of proofing/editing, maybe I'm mistaken? *shrug*
Now, for the "fun" part, I was more or less ok with the book until I read the author's note... I'm assuming the previously published story was a Teen Wolf fanfic (I've watched the show and loved it, so that’s not a problem) and I don't have anything against that, but what I couldn't understand was why the author felt the need to write it as a MF when it was supposedly a MM. Write it as an MM then from the start! I felt kind of... I don't know, let down? Insulted? Definitely not ok. If it was an MM from the start, then do that, do not change it to MF because (I’m guessing) it would be more easily accepted and then changed it to its “original” MM pairing because there’s a market niche or something. Maybe I’m being harsh but I don’t like that kind of opportunistic tactic, I feel it goes against readers who read the original MF and liked it and readers who read the repurposed MM. And I actually paid for it, albeit less that normal price because it was on sale I think, instead of borrowing it through KU. *sigh*
Would I recommend it? Not really, I think there are quite a lot of shifter/werewolves books out there that are better.

Okay, I love the idea of this story and changing it to M/M, but I could not get over the similarities to the M/F book. I've read the "Once bitten, twice shy" series multiple times and is one of my faves. But as soon as I read the first paragraph I was like, "Oh no".
I was waiting for those blue eyes to peer out of the bushes but luckily this time they were red. I was waiting for the hunters to attach him and hey one was female this time. At least he didn't get peed on, poor Katherine who unfortunately did.
Since it took me two days to actually read it and not the 4 hours it would usually I had to give 3 stars. I actually can't wait for the rest of the series to see what's next for Peter (fingers crossed the last book is a M/Preg).

This little gem was a surprise. Most of the YA books within the romance genre fail to make me believe that the character is, in fact, a teen.

My main issue was Peter’s bratty behavior. His anger and bad decisions caused many problems. However, his actions felt age-appropriate, and I knew he would grow, so I pushed through. (I also skimmed some.)
🐺 The alpha is a true alpha: protective, possessive, strong and caring.
😍 My Favorite Part: The ending, where Peter has to be rescued from the villain and comes close to dying. Feelings are finally shared and a relationship begins.

Brom sent hunters to kill Damon’s parents to seize the head alpha position. Now that Damon is staying home more, he fears Damon will challenge him. Brom believes killing Peter will weaken Damon.
The Exciting Conclusion:
Skylar desperately wants to be a werewolf. Brom bites her to get her help in luring Peter out of his house. Peter remembers to leave a note. Brom waits to kill him at the waterfall. Amaryllis comes to help but is injured. Peter surprisingly shifts into a werewolf and saves her, nearly dying himself. Damon and Luca arrive; while Peter is unconscious, Damon kills Brom.
The Final Chapter: Damon is now the head alpha. He waits by Peter's side until six days later, he wakes up. Peter begs Damon not to kill Skylar, his friend. Damon agrees to give her another chance. He then tells Peter that he’s his mate and they kiss passionately.

This held my interest to the end. It reminded me of a teen paranormal TV series. There were enough action scenes to keep me entertained. I did some light skimming at times, but only b/c I was eager to finish.
Thankfully, I skipped the negative reviews. I often like less popular books, as in this case.
The MCs are Damon and Peter. For most of the time they don't even act like friends, and they only kiss twice! Still, the fast-paced plot had me hooked.
I wanted to smack Peter several times, but he's young, was kidnapped, and he recently suffered some supposed losses (he was told that his parents were dead), so it's understandable. Besides, his antics added some needed drama.
The relationship is a slow burn. What a nice burn it was, because it's obvious where it's headed. The romance better happen in book 2, otherwise I'm going to be very unhappy. 😩

Book 2 was even better than this one.
Book 3, however, was a big disappointment! The MCs are barely together, Peter is tortured horrifically, and the HEA wasn't long enough to make it all worth it. The negatives far outweigh the bit of happiness at the end.

Relevant observations for anyone thinking about buying. This appears to be a very polarizing book based on a few factors.
1. Whether or not one had watched Teen Wolf. I have not.
2. Whether or not one is bothered by an author rewriting her own m/f story as m/m, as she had originally wanted it to be, and/or it is upsetting just because she placed the note at the end instead of the beginning. I have no problem with either of these. A story is a story that should stand on its own merit as long as it is the author's own work.
3. Though absolutely nothing happens but kissing, some were upset that one m/c was 17 & the other in his early 20s. Really? I'm sorry. I just don't think that something fundamentally changes the day someone turns 18. The power balance I could have seen being an issue if Peter had felt at all submissive to his Alpha, but he did not.
I highly suggest reading multiple reviews. I was pleasantly surprised by this book and really enjoyed it. For me, it flowed well, and the m/c's were distinct and developed.

I loved how he interacted with Damon they butted heads all the time with Peter at first refusing to believe and then constantly being defiant. Everything in this story is feels bland and uninspired, even his mean nickname feels generic (Penis, really?).
Peter is also the dumbest main character I have read in a while, his “escape attempts” are an exercise in stupidity. Two members of the pack are insufferable. Damon is also a broody asshole, not hot at all.
Go read Ben Alderson’s take on Red Riding Hood, it isn’t perfect, but it’s definitely better than this bland-fest.

There are issues, but I loved this.
Much of this reads like Sterek Teen Wolf fanfiction and I am here for that. I read through all of this quicker than it's taken me to get through some novellas lately because I'm not the best at focusing recently. There was something familiar about this that helped me fall into the story.
That familiarity is the main issue I have with this. At the end of this installment there is an author's note that should have been front and center of the beginning of this book. This author previously released a M/F variation of this story under a pen name that they do not disclose. There is also mention of fanfiction. I've read A LOT in my life and romances are my favorite genre by far; M/F, F/F, M/M pairings in original and fanfiction forms. Have I already read all of this, but don't recognize it because of how long I've been away from M/F or Teen Wolf stories? It's aggravating to not know the other pen names or titles, but, for me, it ultimately doesn't stop my reading on.
I devoured this installment and am quickly trying to write out this review so I can move on to the next. I need to know asap what happens when Peter's family comes back in the story and what happens when the full extent of Damon's big lie and actions in kidnapping Peter is revealed. I expected that at the end of this installment, not the Damon family drama we got. If it doesn't come up in the next book then I'll stop being charitable in the flaws that I overlooked just because this made me nostalgic for a fandom that I haven't been active in since early 2014.

Overall I really liked this book.
1. I loved the combo of supernatural themes with queerness; yay for tribe visibility!
2. I enjoyed the teenage moodiness, and portrayal of Peter trying to figure his shit out and accept himself.
3. I liked that he fought back and tried to escape. I liked the tension created by his drooling over Damon, while still being pissed off at him in general, especially about his high-handed ness, and torturing Damon a little in rebellion.
There were a few problems for me though.
1. It confused me that he wouldn’t find a phone and call his sister, and really follow through on his escape attempt. But teenagers are famous for shitty illogical decisions, and clearly, he didn’t really want to escape, or he would have.
2. Also, the power imbalance, including the clear age difference between Damon and Peter, squicked me out a little. I don’t remember Damon’s age being stated, but it’s at least early twenties, and Peter is seventeen, so reasonably a five year age gap. So, soul mate, one true fated love blah blah aside, there’s a huge difference in maturity level between a seventeen year old minor and a twenty-two year old adult in a caregiver/captor position of power - hence my slight squicked-outness, but I did feel it was sensitively handled by the author.
All that said though, I really did enjoy it, and I look forward to seeing where this story goes in future books from this author.

The blurb of this book quickly drew me in and though the first chapter was a bit difficult to get through, mostly because I needed to get used to the writing style, as I submerged in to it fully I found myself loving it completely.
Peter's inner rantings and sarcasm makes this book to what it is, a good story with all the sass and fury from someone that won't let himself be pushed down or ordered around.
Also Damon's insistent need to take care of his pack, and Peter's fierce refusal of that care.
And in there lies the brilliance, the way he bites back against Damon, keeping him on his toes while denying any attraction to someone he describes as a half-god.
I love the slow burn, and this book is very slow burn, there is nothing sexual between the two but building chemistry which only makes them seem more real. There is nothing instant here, things takes time and builds.

I could be wrong about this, but I'm fairly positive this was originally fanfic. If you know the show and pairing you'll pick up on it right away and you don't need to know it to enjoy the book. This story stands well on it's own and is interesting and different enough to keep you engaged. I enjoyed it for the most part. There's a few strings left dangling, but hopefully those are addressed in later books. There's a few errors aka typos, but it wasn't too distracting for me. Characters are likable enough. There's not much romance, it's more the hope of one to come (though there's progress towards the end). So yeah, I liked this, and I'm interested to read the next book.

This is my first book by Queenie Wise but definitely not my last, really enjoyed this fast reading slow burning supernatural romance. Peter's world just got a lttle more interesting when he got talked into checking out the old haunted house at the end of Abbey Road and getting bitten by a wolf with red eyes, next thing I know my whole life is falling apart. Strange dreams of red eyes trying to tell me something, a handsome stranger, stronger, faster, and feeling off, and now my home has been invaded, my parents murdered, and I'm on the run from them. Resued and the next thing I know I'm in a car traveling to Canada with a bunch of strangers claiming to be werewolves, but the only one I'm interested in is Damon.

I wanna be a werewolf!
Omg I love this book! I stayed up wayyy too late reading it but I can't bring myself to regret it. I've always loved shifters but this is a whole new level. The amount of imagination that went into this world and this book is intense. I really liked the description of Whitewater and the fact that several packs live together in a community. I find myself being easily drawn into, and invested in the lives of the Whitewater colony. I should mention that one mc, Peter, is 17 years old so there is no sex in this book. That said, it was still incredibly fantastic and I'll definitely be reading it again. I am absolutely thrilled for the next book.

If you're going to admit to recycling you M/F work for the M/M market a la Logan Harper and others (like that's not a problem in and of itself), at least have the decency to put the author's note at the beginning so people can make an informed decision whether to keep reading. Trying to head off controversy from people outing you about your fanfic turned M/F turned M/M by that weak sauce note at the end doesn't make it better.

Little Red by Queenie Wise is an awesome story to read. This is book number one in this awesome start to a brand new series writen by a brand new author for me to read. I highly recommend to everyone who loves reading about LGBT and paranormal romances in their stories.

This is Sterek fic. There was real a real weird bit at the end of the story that states that this was originally a m/f story… which feels like a super bizarre thing to write. It’s clearly Sterek. Dude. 🙄
