December 7, 2020This book is a fantastic introduction and exegesis of the Apostle Paul's epistle to the Church of Galatia. As someone new to Biblical commentaries, I appreciated the author's approach, i.e. simplifying/clarifying the ideas being conveyed without diluting or diminishing the essence of the message.
Even though it's seemingly a minor detail, I have to compliment the author's cover art. As a framing device, I think it's a perfect representation of the heresy-and those behind it-Paul was exhorting the Galatians to reject. The unbearable burden that a works-based soteriology places upon its victims is perfectly captured by this picture of a man being crushed under the weight he's attempting to carry.
It actually reminded me of Isaiah 46:1,
"Bel boweth down, Nebo stoopeth, their idols were upon the beasts, and upon the cattle: your carriages were heavy loaden; they are a burden to the weary beast.”
Animals, much less men, are unable to bear the burden of these idols, but the false teachers who place them on men are attempting to turn their proselytes into drayhorses and cattle. That's one of the themes that resonated with me as I read through this commentary.
There were a number of insights that I hadn't fully appreciated up to this point, including the critical role of angels in the presentation of the Law, as well as the implicit connection between the form of punishment described under the Old Covenant, i.e. being hung outside of the gate, and the details of the sacrificial punishment that Jesus endured for our sake.
I would highly recommend this book, because it attacks the core of perhaps the most insidious and pervasive heresy we're called to deal with in this age. Namely, the notion that we have any part in redeeming our souls and that the work of Christ is insufficient for our salvation. This is one of if not the main reason men go to Hell. They want to invert our relationship to God, and to make Christ into our debtor, something which scripture-particularly the Pauline epistles-tells us is fundamentally impossible.
Considering all of the cults and false doctrines that are predicated upon this very heresy, e.g. Black Hebrew Israelism, Mormonism, Roman Catholicism, rabbinical Judaism, Islam, legalism, ethical culture, Sabbatarianism, among many others to numerous to name, this book is a welcome defense of the simplicity and sufficiency of the Gospel of Christ.

I would like to start off by saying how I first heard of Jourdan Ortiz I was tuning into a show on You Tube and he was a guest in there . And he was telling his testimony and speaking about the BHI. I started following him on social media and starting watching his videos on You Tube. I’m so glad I decided to get Judaizer. It is well written and easy to understand. He’s commentary on the Galatians has helped me better understand God’s Word. I have to say my favorite part of this book is in Chapter 2 where is explains how the The Law actually arouses our sinful nature. He gives an example how a father earns his son not to touch the outlet before his fathers warning the son never thought about the outlet but because of the warming the son is tempted to touch the outlet. I paraphrased it Jourdan explains it better in the book. Also I enjoyed reading his testimony at the end . I will recommend this to anyone who wants to a deeper understanding of Gods word. Also to anyone who is just learning Gods word . May God continue to bless Jourdan and his family and his ministry. Thank you Jourdan for writing this book. I was kind of sad that I finished the book . I can say this is a book that will read more than one time

Great summary on Galatians, refuting works-based religions/cults. Wish that there were references sourced for some of the things but other than that I enjoyed

This was an excellent commentary from Jourdan Ortiz.
After completing the book, and even journeying through the book, you will easily feel the liberation from Jourdan that he is now free in Christ.
This is certainly a commentary to continue returning to when reading and studying the book of Galatians. Very scholarly and experiential tone.
