Please note this is a 3.5.

A decent crash course in menopause that examines a lot of the issues facing female bodied individuals around the world, this book covers some nooks and crannies oft neglected. There’s a lot to be learnt here, especially if you’re new to the topic, and there’s some bits and bobs even I didn’t know. However, the book does tend to repeat itself in places, and some of the sections felt a bit like they’d been said before in the chapters beforehand.

However, this is an important resource for people going through the menopause. There’s a lot here that’s very valuable and reasserts that a lot of the changes are big, scary, and not at all what you’d expect. I do think it’s rather sad how little research has been done in totality on the topic, however, and I just hope that we see more in the future.

This is a great book to start reading about the menopause as it is written by Kathy Abernethy who is is a leading U.K. menopause specialist, has over 25 years experience working in the field and co-leads an NHS Menopause Service. A lot of people in the limelight are selling books and making documentaries and their experiences are valid but they aren’t the people we should be going for our understanding on basic information on the menopause and certainly not at all for advice. Their experiences count the same way all women’s experiences count if they live long enough to experience peri-menopause, menopause and post-menopause. Kathy also suggests trusted sources to look at for further information about the menopause and how to make informed choices about where to get information and advice. If you’re anything like me you’ll want to read about the menopause in a lot kore detail post this book!

A brilliant read for all peri or menopausal women also for partners and families of women to help understand and support their loved one through a difficult period of life. Written honestly and without too much jargon so easy to understand with practical suggestions for discussion with GPs or specialists.

Is exactly what the title says.
A lot of basic and practical information combined into one book. Good introduction book to get your started to understanding what may be happening to you and probably more for peri menopause. Did have a good breakdown of the medical terms and how you are classed, so I am post menopause and so would have been more useful a few years ago, but still had a few tips and aha moments of what did happen for me.
Good starting point and overview and might get you curious to find other books that go deeper. Personally prefer the approach and content of Christiane Northrup's books, especially The Pleasure of the Menopause as more into the positive, natural and spiritual approach to life.
This book more detached and clinical feel from it, not to disrespect the author, her qualifications and experience or doubt the contents, still useful and just depends on what you are looking for and what works for you. Got one or two interesting pieces of information, but otherwise a straight forward easy read.
