As Kander's ruler, Kal must continue her duties while she waits for Charlie's return. Her first priority is handling the rebel faction known as Alpha Prime. But, her focus begins to flounder for the first time since she became Kal. Frustrated in every way, Kal seeks guidance and comes to terms with the Alpha in her that Charlie triggered.
I, Alpha is a 14,000-word third-person sci-fi F/F romance Omegaverse short story. It is the first short story set near the end of Book 2 in The Alpha God series. It contains g!p material* as well as intimate scenes not suitable for any reader under the age of eighteen. *G!p is an abbreviation for "girl penis."

Lexa Luthor is an avid writer and reader of the Omegaverse trope especially including F/F pairing. In her books, each main character(s) is a strong-willed female, who navigates difficult situations but always ends up finding love with their mate. Every tale has a twist and is gripping, sexy, and even a bit adventurous.
When not writing, Lexa enjoys binge watching television shows like Game of Thrones, Gentleman Jack, or The L Word. Her other favorite hobbies are playing cornhole, rooting for the Kansas City Chiefs, and laying around the pool in the summer. At times, Lexa finds time to read romances (both dark and fluffy) and great sci-fi books but nothing else can beat a steamy, downright erotic F/F romance with biting, knotting, and slightly possessive love.

With the new book in this series coming out this month, I was hoping I would be able to catch up. Not sure if that will happen but I’m glad to be back in this series. This short was a change from the normal feel of the series and I loved having the POV be from Kal. I’m glad we finally get a glimpse of what Kal is really feeling for Charlie. I was surprised that while this takes place when Charlie is off planet, that there still was a bit of heat to this short story. The only bad thing about this short is that now that I know how great it is to be in Kal’s POV, I’m going to want to read more from her. This is a series that should be read in order and does contain some G!P content. This series will not be for everyone but it’s a damn good series.
This was a quick read and free when you sign up for the author's blog updates. You should read this between books 2 and 3 of the series. While some of it repeats the settings and dialogue from the 2nd book, it is written from the perspective of Kal and provides additional insight into the Alpha. It also reveals background information on the Alpha Prime revolt currently brewing and the boldness of its leader to challenge Kal.
It's free and fun and helps to stretch out the series until the 4th book drops. Just do it :)
This short story is a great insight in Kal (Sumner) and what happens to her when Charlie is our in space on yet another rescue mission. It’s a short, but has a very decent page count. Wel written, I thoroughly enjoyed myself 💚
Omg. Omg. I have so many questions I hope will be answered in book 3.... and book 4 is coming too so my happiness’ levels are crazy at the moment. So looking forward to reading more about Kal and Charlie!
This novella is essentially Kal’s POV leading up to the end of book 2, though in a shorter format (it doesn’t cover everything). Personally, I loved this. I’m not usually a huge alternate POV reader as I tend to prefer a single perspective that keeps the mystery without laying out everyone’s thoughts. That’s why I really appreciate when an author offers an alternate POV separately as a novella, so readers can choose whether to dive into it.
As for the story itself, just WOW! I knew Kal wanted Charlie, but here we see just how obsessed she is with our girl, and I was living for it. Watching her wrestle with her growing feelings (and ahem, sexual frustrations) while Charlie was away was HOT! And that ending? It has me desperate to jump straight into book 3, because it’s clearly going to be explosive!
It’s also the readers first time seeing from Kal’s point of view which I always find fascinating. Until now we’ve only gotten Charlie’s thoughts, feelings and observations so getting this little peek is nice. It also gives more information for world building and what’s happening behind the scenes while Charlie is away. Totes here for it 10/10.
I blasted through this short story, really enjoying the perspective from Kal. The anticipation this short fic built in me for book 3... This entire series just leaves me breathless. God, I love these books
4 stars. This takes place at the end of book two but from Kal’s point of view as she goes into a rut. A quick read but it was really good. I liked seeing things from Kal’s perspective and I thought this was great novella.
I just love it! Reading from Kal's perspective was really nice. In the other two books, I suspected how she felt, but reading it now was really nice. It made Kal's character feel more 'human'.
Ah, yes, getting to read something from Kal's point of view was really refreshing and gave some more insight into her thinking. Loved this one. Hope there's more where that came from.
CHARACTER & STORY IMPRESSIONS: A great addition to the second book in the Alpha God series, especially because it’s from Kal’s point of view. It’s nice to read about what she’s thinking or feeling during the time Charlie is away on her mission. We also get to see more of Dorlon, which is always welcomed.
Not only is there a glimpse into Kal’s thoughts, but also her doubts about her ability to serve as High Commander of Kander. I thought the conversation Kal had with the High Priest was sweet, because Kal can express her feelings about Charlie even if she’s unsure of those feelings herself.
HIGHLIGHTS: * Highlight 1: Kal getting jealous at the thought Charlie might be with someone else. * Highlight 2: Kal making the smug ambassador of Alpha Prime almost piss himself. * Highlight 3: Dorlon’s reaction when Kal told her she’s going into a rut because of Charlie. * Highlight 4: Dorlon’s willingness to protect Kal’s secret even if she doesn’t approve of it.
PERSONAL TAGS: * 3rd person, Kal’s POV * Competent protagonist * F/f omegaverse * G!p * Human female / she-alpha * Mercenary / high commander * Sci-fi (with a bit of fantasy) * Short story.
I think I said it in book 1 review, but I really like how the series uses only one POV, Charlie's, so there's this whole enigmatic vibe surrounding Kal, however I loved to get a glimpse on Kal's POV, how her mind is working through things when she is in control of her actions, but it was even better because we also got to see her going through something primal that she can't control. LOVED IT
