The Arrangement

Rate this book
A Russian boss. An Italian Princess.
The truth of their union would change everything...

Nothing will stop the Bratva mob boss from taking back what’s his and once he has her, he’ll do anything to keep her.

Viviana “Vine” Carducci’s and Anton Avdonin’s marriage was decided over two decades ago. The deal between leading mafia families had more on the line than anyone knew, even if the Bratva and Cosa Nostra shouldn’t have mixed. When Vine’s family is murdered and she’s left with nothing more than her grief to survive the mob world alone, she believes the arrangement won’t see the light of day.

Anton can’t allow the one woman he was supposed to love get away. At the possibility of her life coming to a quick end, he steps in with guns blazing knowing exactly what it might cost him: everything. But it’s been nearly a decade since their last meeting, and he can’t help but wonder if the woman he took back is the same girl he fell for all those years before.

Under his protection and love, Vine is unable to forget their shared moments a lifetime ago, or the future she knows they’re owed. When an old flame of Anton’s shows up to rip the veil off the carefully constructed secrets he’d been hiding, past lies surface, and Vine might just learn that nothing about her life was as it seemed. But, that’s nothing compared to the bomb about to blow. Can she see beyond the pain and blood it to take what she always wanted? And just how far will the mob prince go to keep her safe?

In a world where violence, deceit, and greed reign, your life is not your own, and sometimes, love has to be arranged.

2018 read!

You may ask me why I keep reading mafia books when I mostly disappointed by them. The fact is that ever since reading the Ruthless People series, I keep looking for something similar.

I want the characters to be mean, evil and enjoy what they are doing! Because when I'm reading about criminals, I do not want a sap story full of excuses. I want evil people, doing evil things without excuses.

And where I sort of liked this book, it did not feel like a mafia book. It was strangely sweet. Vine was inconsistent. So was Anton. It seemed more like a Young Adult book.

I wanted to rate this 3 ⭐ but since once again I need to rate it 2⭐.

Viviana "Vine" Carducci

Anton Avdonin

Perfect kick-off to an exciting series that centers itself around two people who were arranged to be married when they were toddlers. Vine is a Don's daughter and Anton is the son of a Bratva boss. I enjoyed Vine's no-bullshit attitude towards people around her, and her strong personality which demanded respect from the get-go. Anton I respected very much because his ability throughout the book to stay true to his word, and made it his top priority to ensure his family's safety.

I would recommend this book to those looking for a marvelous mob romance series with action and an hell of a lot of heat ;)

Until next time readers,

Re-read June 2019 - Still as fantastic as the first time around. Loved!!

Just Wow!

I freaking loved this so hard, both Anton and Vine are amazing characters. It's been a long time (if ever) that I've read a book where the main characters ages put them in the NA category yet not once did it feel NA. Anything but.

This was one hell of a read.

Full review to come once books 2 and 3 are finished.

I got 75% before I said fuck it; this counts as reading the whole thing to me.

Another mafia book that feels YA. Maybe it's because the characters are 25 and 23, maybe it's because they're ridiculously immature and suck at life.

Vine, or Viviana, is the daughter of the dead Italian mob boss and was promised in marriage to the son of the Russian mob boss, Anton. She thought the deal died with her dad and went off to college. Anton still wants that deal, so he kidnaps her and has her brought to him. Turns out she's ok with the kidnapping and getting hitched to a guy she hasn't seen since she was 16. She moves into his super secure house cuz her uncle, the current Italian mob boss murdered her whole family and she's next on the list.

Anton is the Russian mob boss at age 25.....yeah. Now maybe you're thinking he's a manly 25, no, he's not, he's definitely of the frat boy mentality. I don't know how anyone trusted him to run anything. He thinks it's a great idea to smoke weed and get high as a kite on his birthday when he has to meet up with lots of other mob bosses. Yeah, that's great for doing business. He also spends the whole book being a controlling douche to Vine. But that's ok, because she's a giant whiny brat the whole book. They both should die.

Why I dnf-ed it - immature characters, too long, too much sex, too little plot, and having This book is mostly sex and way too long. The secrets that are being kept from Vine are stupid because everyone else knows them. Just no to this book. I can't believe it's a series.

This is an arranged marriage story with intricate twists and turns. The Russian Bratva prince, Anton Avdonin, has waited and waited for his betrothed, the Italian Mafia principessa, Viviana “Vine” Carducci. But with secrets and lies and murders, this arranged marriage is anything but easy and simple. But these two have a passionate, steamy, fiery connection that is intense and possessive. Their love is real and raw but will the secrets and lies cause everything to unravel?

I found the story fast paced and centered more around the romance between Anton and Viviana. It set their connection to one another and also their abiding love. This author always brings the passion and fire around her couples and this first book did not disappoint. I look forward to continuing on with this series and seeing how Anton and Vine blossom and rule the Bratva world they preside over.

The Arrangement was one of the better mob romances I have read. The author does a good job of getting you to like the hero despite the bad things he may do as a part of being a mob boss. The two leads had good chemistry and fit together well in their world. If you like mob romances, this one is worth checking out. I had a fun time reading this book. I am wondering if there will be another book featuring the couple, it's not necessary since there was an HEA but I wouldn't mind a short story epilogue to see more about them.

This one was a surprise hit for me and actually better than I was anticipating.
It's mafia with dark situations but the romance itself is not dark at all but incredibly warm and heartfelt.
Viviana Carducci is the daughter of the former Cosa Nostra Don a real Italian princess.
Betrothed from a young age to the bratva Prince and heir this alliance the excuse used by her uncle to remove her family from the top.
Now living on the fringes and under the control of her uncle Vine tries to keep a low profile.
Knowing it may only be a matter of time before she also has a convenient accident.
Everything changes when Bratva Boss Anton Avdonin a Russian Pakhan sends for his betrothed.
It’s finally time to claim what has always been his and Vines new life with him is something she’s prepared for her whole life.

I really liked vine she is a pragmatic intelligent woman who doesn’t cause drama for drama's sake.
I Liked how reasonable and logical she was able to separate in her head Anton from his Boss persona.
She listens and adapts to the information she is given and is willing to totally stand by her man even knowing what he is capable of.
Vine accepts Anton for exactly who he is and is under no illusions regarding her future husband.

Anton is all dominant protective male combined with a core of sweetness that is all for his new fiancée.
He is like two separate people the Boss and also the man who loves Vine He’s able to flip his internal switch depending on the situation.
I liked how Anton doesn’t treat Vine like she’s stupid and just tells her he can’t when he is unable to be completely honest with her.
I also loved his devotion and care Anton isn’t afraid to show his feelings.
These two had so much chemistry and their encounters were intense they share a deep connection.

This had action and drama and easily kept my attention. It’s My first experience with this author but won’t be my last.
Though Anton and Vines story continues in the next book in the series this was not a cliffhanger ending it just closes the story arc ready for the next chapter.
Overall this was great and I really enjoyed myself.

4,5 "everlasting love" stars

My BR with Mafluts Irish, Shan and Suz and D ended up without Suz LOL she'll be reading it a bit later (Suz, you better!!!) :D

Hmmm...I first met with Bethany-Kris 's(the author) work when I did my first group BR (that's actually when Mafluts first started with their mobsta adoration) with her Filthy Marcellos: Lucian...and from then on I was hooked with Marcellos as well as her writting style...

And now we are back...with The Arrangement...Anton and Viviana's story...to tell you the truth I was expecting more mobsta action and more of the fast paced groove ...BUT I was slowly sucked in the world of lover's drama that simply lulled me into this woven lifeline of two people that were a part of a bigger plan set in motion without them realizing that is was meant to be for them from the beginning.

They first met at a very young age, then second time when they were young adults, and when the mafia setting started to unroll the „destiny“ by setting in motion a course of events that would finally put Anton and Viviana together – their long time apart only keeps them vary BUT it soon turns to be just a gap to get across in one motion, in one look, in one gasp, in on decision to awake the feelings that were „always“ there...

Anton is just...wow, alpha, perfectly described in a manner that would melt an ice, so fo me, it was merely a question of stating the fact – that he got to me sooner then i thought LOL

I know my guuurls said that Henry does NOT look russian, and I just DON'T CARE, cause this guy has everything in just his eyes that is perfect Anton...so fuck it, Henry it is...

Anton is a man who knows what he wants and is patient and controlled in holding the cards and using the power to get what he wants...

It might appear that he's a man from the shadows but that would be the deadliest thing to think cause he's not reluctant to get his hands bloody and dirty in the time of necessity

he protected, was totally in control and in motion even when his own blood was boiling from rage and hunger for revenge

I really „felt“ the love he felt for Vine (Viviana) and he was even able to change her mind when she appeared undecisive and not sure of herself, of him or them as a possibility.
The passion between them was palpable...I'll provide only the kiss...the rest will have to be the lur for your imagination...

Viviana/Vine – was the Cosa Nostra daughter whose destiny was also set long time ago by the same „arrangement“ – her family was killed and she was sent away BUT her life was in constant lingering danger until Anton put a stop to it...and came to get her

At first she's oppose to the notion of that arrangement and wants out...she questions everything, she denys it, denys Anton BUT slowly she embraces him through engagig memories of him and them both...the buried feelings slowly emerging to the surfice taking charge of their destiny and setting them on the right path...

At times she was too meek BUT then she grew on me...and I understood her as she slowly gave in to the magic and power that is Anton
and their everlasting all consuming love...

and she became Anton's queen that she was supposed to be...as it was meant for her to be

the pacing of the book was on a slow side...it went like a steady heartbeat...and then the pulse jumped high...then it went back to beating slow...that is the best I could describe it...in plain simple words...

will be continuing with the next book...and see where will the love lead them...

The Bratva Prince, Anton Avdonin and the Cosa Nostra Princess, Viviana Carducci are to marry, the decision is made when they're aged four and two respectively.
They meet again fourteen years later and this is when the troubled Prince falls in love with his Princess and this meeting changes his life and makes him the man he becomes.
When sixteen year old Viviana or Vine as she's know sneaks into Anton's bed and gives him her virginity he tells her:
"Giving this to me makes you mine, Vine. I don’t care about who comes after, or the in- betweens. Not when we both know I’m going to be your last.”
Tragedy strikes and Viviana believes the agreement is gone and she's been left all alone but Anton is watching her every move and keeping her safe and when it looks like she's in danger he swoops in and rescues her.
Sounds like a fairytale?
Yes it does the prince and Princess meet and fall in love, a love that never dies, but the Prince is Bratva and his life is one of violence, crime and secrets, the Princess is also born into this life and knows how to kill and keep quiet when required.
How could I not love this book, romance is my genre and here we have a boy who falls in love at eighteen and he continues to love her as he grows into a man, it makes him who he is and he'd do anything for her and he's chosen well Viviana is a fabulous female character, strong, intelligent and not a remote hint of stupid anywhere. They are truly made for each other and once I'd got past the beginning I loved every page and can't wait to start the next one 'The Life'
While I loved the blurb I struggled a bit with the beginning to the extend where I stopped and put it aside and read another book, I'm not sure exactly what it was or why it took me a while to get into this book but it did, I'm so glad I pushed on because once I'd settled into it I just loved it.
This is a romance with enough story to keep it interesting it's also hot as Anton and Viviana can't get enough of each other.
Be warned it is a 'to be continued' but all the books are on KU.

#### I'm adding this to the bottom of my reviews for this series.
I checked the authors page which isn't something I generally do but I wanted to know if we were getting any more Russian Guns books. On the site there's 9 mini free reads/deleted scene books from this series and one in particular 'White Sand Black Beauty' is just beautiful it takes us to the second time Anton and Viviana meet, he's eighteen and rebelling against everything and then he sees her.....

3 1/2 stars (rounded down to 3 stars, because I was never okay with Anton and Vine's lifestyle - I know murderers, drug dealers and arms trafficking bosses can, and do, fall in love like any "ordinary" people, but don't expect me to care for them)

Spoilers ahead

I've been reading this book for what seems like yearsssss....initially I couldn't make it past these little gems

Viviana dead would absolutely destroy Anton. All those years he spent waiting and watching, keeping that safe distance but planning to make his move would be wasted. He’d been so careful and meticulous about his words and feelings for her when it came to his men and the rest of the Bratva organization, but there were some things he simply couldn’t hide. Love for one. He loved her so fucking hard it hurt and had for almost a decade.

A strangled growl stopped the man’s words up short. The Bratva prince didn’t want to hear it; he didn’t care. What was his was his, regardless of what came before the arrangement could be fulfilled. God knew he’d taken enough women to his bed for a random distraction over the last nine long years.

Then a couple chapters later the gross aftermath of the h's ONS with her bodyguard

So I paused in reading because I was pissed, I mean it's an arranged marriage and they hadn't seen in each other in years but seriously how could he claim love???have

Anywho today I picked it back up, made it to probably 50-60% and consider it read. Ow drama, immature mcs and the fact that I already had a problem with the mmc made this die a fiery death for me. I once loved this authors mafia books so much I raved about them....I'm not sure what's happening right now😒

I’ve wanted to read this book for so long and you can imagine my disappointment, and how fast I lost interest in it. I’m surprised I managed to go this far.

I find both MC’s lacking and didn’t stir any feelings from me. It’s very hard to like a book when you don’t feel any connection to the MC’s.
I was expecting more, I guess.

Maybe is me and is not what I need at the moment, but I know for sure that I will stop here now. It doesn’t do the trick for me.

It's always a risk to read more books of the same topic in a row. The need to compare these is there. When I started with The Arrangement, I'd just finished "Kiss me" from L.P. Lovell, which was a 5 star mafia read for me with a kickass heroine.
Going into this book I had huge expectations, which was the problem.
While I knew I couldn't compare both books, I still did.
Sue me!
And so Vine was loosing as a h for me. I know the mafia wanted their women and kids to stand in the back and don't ask questions and stuff, but Vine was too meek and obsequious for my liking. She just nodded at nearly everything Anton wanted from her. Her backbone had a short appearance at 64% against an ex from Anton and that was it.
No, that's not enough for a girl raised by criminals, who allegedly taught her how to use weapons and knifes.

The love story itself felt too fast. Those two people had seen each other at the age of 2/4 and 16/18 for a week and meeting now after 9! years, they fell into the relationship and wanting each other like nothing else ever existed. I know they were raised for this, but still....argh...it felt off!

I'm really sorry I couldn't settle into this one. I guess I wanted it too much and had too high...or let's say different expectations.

A good read. I would have given it 5 stars but some things just rubbed me as unrealistic. Vine seemed to get over the major things that happened in the book without a blink of an eye. Her family was murdered, her future husband never came for her, she gets kidnapped, and she gets told she is getting married. She just gives into it all and says ok. Then when the big reveal is revealed she doesn't even really blink an eye. She doesn't even really get mad at Anton for keeping it from her. Vine gives him the silent treatment but the she has sex with him and all is well. It just seemed like her reactions were a tad unrealistic.

I loved the storyline and I did guess the big reveal about midway through. There is some blood and guts and murder so if this isn't your cup of tea then it isn't for you. Anton is hot and sexy. The typical Alpha male, but he is totally in love with Vine for sure. The sex is hot and sometimes a tad too much, but hot nonetheless.

Enjoy the read and I will read the next installment for sure! :)

This. This, I loved. This was ridiculously good. I was so into this story and everything about it. The pace of the story was great and it kept me intrigued throughout.

Anton was hiding something and I was so eager to figure out what it was and when I did find out I was a little taken a back. The whole Mafia action was intense! And Vine's uncle is a huge asshole!!!

Putting that aside... I would just like to profess my love for one thing: Anton and Vine's relationship. It was so pure in the sense that they're love for each other was so intense I felt it to the bones! The way they interacted and the chemistry they had reflected their love so profoundly. Seriously, When Anton was speaking to his lawyer, Ivan about Viviana (Vine) I actually felt his love for her. And When Vine expressed her feelings in general I could feel it too.

I LOVED this! And I can't wait for the next installment which I'm going to start now.

DNF 48 % I so don`t care …....

The Arrangement gives an interesting look on the arranged marriage.

The H/h have actual feelings toward each other. They fell in love when they were teenagers and deep down they both stayed faithful and didn`t let anybody else in their hearts. I am saying hearts because after that they get separated for nearly ten years.

I liked the start of the book and then the heroine agrees to marry her lovely Russian. From there on the story loses somehow it`s intensity, we see how loving Anton is and we are promised a secret.

A read in some review that the secret is reviled around the 60% mark but I am so bored with the story already that I even don`t care what is the big secret.

Adding and the fact that there are 3 published and 2 more to be… I am sorry but I am so done with the story and the series.

4.5 stars!

This was so fluffy and pretty much not Mafia related (besides vague family ordeals). I recommend this to anybody who’s on the fence about mafia romance novels.

I love how fast paced this was. I love that the couple have known each other since birth. I love that they had fallen in love when they were teens, and also a decade later.

I especially loved how the broken hearted heroine dealt with her angst. I thought for sure that she’d be like all other romance leads, and run away. Get as far away as possible from her man.

But she doesn’t.

She’s more mature than most romantic female leads. She is far less brash and certainly is strong. She doesn’t run from her issues. It was brilliant!

I’ll certainly read on, but not immediately. I need some darker mafia stories 😈.

★★★✩3.5 Mobster Lovin’ Stars

I have mixed feelings about this book. I think I was expecting something different or at least different in the main characters. Where I assumed this was a mob-romance (and it is) the more hardcore elements and stereotypical elements were missing. Sure there are scenes of violence and murder but to me it fell a bit flat. Not to say the story was bad, just not what I was expecting.

The main characters were a bit of an annoyance for me. I hoped that Viviana AKA Vine would have more of a backbone or at least develop one in order to live in the mob life but the passion that drives her seems to weaken early on. She went from a defiant and badass chick to someone who basically did everything she was told. I understand she felt it was necessary to mind herself in this new life but she lost part of herself at the same time. Having grown up and witnessed this life only from a Italian family rather than Russian one would assume Vine would know to be strong and worthy of her man, but I didn’t feel it. Personally she grew into a tamable puppy and where it helped ease the story along it just wilted a bit for me.

Aside from my dislike of Viviana the story itself was interesting and the pace was steady. Vine is stolen from her home and brought back to New York where she is supposed to marry an old flame and someone who she was promised to as a young girl. Mob-life runs differently than ours and Vine knows the best thing she could do is follow her family’s wishes. Not to mention she has to fear an uncle with a grudge. That’s where Anton comes in the most. Not only can he offer Viviana protection but he can have what’s his: her. After a steamy hookup when they were still teenagers, Anton knew there was something special about Vine and she would be his when the time is right… Now is that time.

The greatest issue Anton and Vine face is having and keeping a relationship with all the threats that being together and Anton being the Don hold. He may be in charge but together they have to be strong and not show fear. Money is power but so is being the most fearsome and steadfast Don, and that’s just who Anton sets out to be. Anton is a man who won’t let anyone stand between him and Vine even if that man is her relative. Should that enemy try and hurt her, well the gloves come off and things get messy.

Overall this was an interesting mob-style read. I wasn’t overall thrilled with the mob lifestyle, I expected more fights, explosions, something. And I also felt slighted by the romance that happens too quick and felt weak. All that aside I was still kept engaged and entertained till the very end. If you like your men on the wrong side of the law, wielding a power that will probably get them killed then I highly recommend The Arrangement. Immerse into a world where Brooklyn becomes the home of the mob and no one is safe, not even your heart.

The Cosa Nostra Princess - Viviana (Vine) Carducci’s and the Bratva Prince Anton Avdonin’s marriage was arranged between their families years ago, the deep affection and attraction they felt for one another when they met as teenagers was unexpected. Years later after Vine's parents and brother were assassinated and she thinks Anton has forgotten all about her and the arranged marriage, he comes crashing back in her life, determined for their marriage to take place and to protect her from those who wish to see her dead. Anton may be a mob boss now but he has and will always love her.

I liked the fact that that Anton didn't at anytime expect Vivian to have kept herself untouched for him. What did annoy me was that Viviana, when assuming

This is defo a sweet romance, I was expecting a slightly darker facet to Anton's character but despite this not manifesting, the book was surprisingly good. I found myself liking the main characters and engaged. Ends on a bit of a cliffy, not bouncing to pick up book 2 until it's on KU or goes down in price.
