Individually, the two stories I read were cutesy and good, but they were rushed, desperate to get to the hotness and mpreg elements, at the expense of character development and plot flow. The plots themselves were predictable and incomplete, leaving events unexplained/unexplored, that we really should have seen in greater detail, instead of being told about them after the fact.
My favourite part of a series is when you see characters in a story, then get to read their story later. That didn't really happen here. The only consistency between the stories was the appearance of Cafe Om, and the barista Marcus. However, both were used only as tools to facilitate the meeting of mates, rather than having an actual place in the story like they should have. There was no real link between the stories other than this cafe that had no soul, no personality, nothing to make me care about reading what kept happening within its walls. It feels far more like this is a "shared universe" - where all the stories happen in the same world, without any real link - rather than a true series, where characters pop up frequently and you look forward to seeing them.
I cared about Marcus, only to get to the end of Book 2 and find the Epilogue 6 YEARS later. When I realised that, I was gutted to realise he'd been left hanging for so long, and came back to read the individual blurbs for the stories, only to discover that he doesn't appear until BOOK SIX. Until then, none of the main characters of the remaining books have even been hinted at within the first two stories, so I have no real connection to them, no eagerness to read their stories.
That's why I'm stopping now. I have issues with the execution, and I've been given no reason to care about the characters that follow, to want to see their stories or what their fates are. I did care about Marcus, but I'm not interested in wading through another 4 stories, just to reach his, and I can't abide reading a series out of order.
Beyond that there were numerous editing issues, explained characters (I still have *no* idea who Hunter and Sebastian are), gaps of recapping rather than letting us explore events, timeline inconsistencies, hinting at a "personal issue" and getting us invested in Ethan only to skim over his fate without even mentioning a name or explanation, without the chance to get invested in the characters and know they're going to be explored in more depth later. There were also unlisted triggers about the serious and extensive abuse mentioned in Book 1 - including abuse of children - and mentions of being tricked into unprotected sex in Book 2.
I've been given no reason to keep reading, so it's onto something new.
These are fairly innocuous mpreg books. They are a bit like Harlequins from the 80s, where men stumped about being dominating and stupid and the women sort of put up with them because "that's how things are". The romances here are less antagonistic and rapey though, to be fair. The gender roles are more 50s.
Mpreg romances tend to be women authors interrogating the patriarchy, parenthood and gender roles through "what if men had babies?" In these books, part of the set-up is that the omegas in them want to have babies. A lot. And marriage! Oh! Even the Omega Studies lecturer.
This series is amazingly complicated and full of all the feels. There is an unique flow in how the previous story connects to the next and even circles around to previous characters. Touching several topics for inequality to the trauma an unexpected loss can cause, the entire series provides something for all types of readers. There are some grammatical errors that were not present in the individual copies, at least that I can remember, but not so many that it interrupted the flow of the entire read.
Love it so much I have the single issue and the omnibus...
When I first bought it I thought it was either a great deal or a steal. I was unfortunately wrong. Most of the stories have boring plots and the interesting ones become boring after you start reading them. The passing sometimes is so strange you lose the sense of time and don't know when the scene changes. Dialogues are also forced, unnatural, making the relationships as well quite unappealing. You could practically say whenever something was gonna go "wrong" because all the stories used the same framework. I'm definitely not buying anything more from this author. Can't return the book for my money, but I can definitely not waste anymore.
Full series of the Cafe Om books, from the mpreg world. Loved them all. Men and babies are my happy place!!!! I liked being able to read the whole series one after another. Some books in the box sets have different titles to the individual books but they are the same content and couples. Best read in order of the books.
I had read the first book and fell in love. But the next book got lost in my tbr. So I was excited to find this bundle of a great a/b/o world that includes an amazing little girl named Chloe and lots of love and babies.
Welcomes to the world of Cafe Om; where the omegas are feisty, the alphas are hot, and the coffee is to die for. Where omega rights isn't just a catch- phrase. Get to know the people of Omega House, too. Follow a succession of men as they find their HEA. There is family, drama, high hopes, darling babies, overprotective alphas, a precocious little girl, and pets, furry & not furry. I had read some of these before, but having the whole series in one place was an incentive to read them all, in order. Once again I was embroiled in their lives and loves. If you haven't read this series, now is your chance. If you have read some of it, read the rest. If you have read them all, here is your chance to have them all in one collection. Grab. It. Now. You will be glad you did. This book contains adult themes and language, mm sex and is intended for mature readers only.
I love reading love stories that incorporates several couples that show up in each story. This was one of the best that I have read so far. I enjoyed each characters story so much. If you are looking for a good read with lots of love about family this is the one for you. Great characters and got scenes.
