an alternate cover edition can be found here

What do you get when you mix a dragon, a vampire, a griffin, a mage, and a human? Sawyer Smith’s life sounds like a punchline, but the mates he’s come to love are no joke. They’re fierce and wonderful, protecting him from the outside forces trying to destroy him. Add in a reluctant hippocamp and an egotistical fae prince, and Sawyer has his hands full in more ways than one.

Sawyer is closer than ever to fulfilling the ancient prophecy of the Chosen One, but the bonds between him and his newest guardians are giving him doubts. The rules are changing, and Sawyer has to adapt quickly if he’s going to keep up, especially after he’s whisked away to the land of the fae, a place with cryptic customs. One misstep could very well lead to his death.

Navigating the waters of his newest relationship is tricky enough without the encroaching dangers. Something terrifying is heading Sawyer’s way, threatening not only his life, but everything he’s built with the mates he loves. Despite their concerns, Sawyer is ready to make sacrifices, because there’s next to nothing he wouldn’t do to keep them safe.

HOLY SHIT. This story was the best one yet.

Intrigue, forbidden feelings, friendship, betrayal, a huuuuuuuge plot twist, and an even bigger revelation.

And now I'm freaking exhausted! (but in a good way)

This story had it all, but did manage to keep the penis parade to manageable levels, focusing much more on moving the plot forward, which was all kinds of amazing.

The trip into the fae realm and the additional world building done there was a total blast, and now I'm *dying* to read the next book.

4.5 stars.

Awww...Saeward is my favorite.

Reread June 2021

Still love it.

Reread May 2019

This is still the best one of the series so far. Love it so much even rereading it. I seriously need the next book right away. One of the things I love the most is Sawyer’s growth throughout the series. He’s turning into a great leader. I also love seeing the love grow and develop with all the mates. Ugh! I need the next book now! 😭

Originally read February 2019

OMG! This series is getting better and better! All the twists and turns...secrets revealed. Crazy! Bloody brilliant! ❤️❤️❤️

I loved this one. All the mates are coming together and finding themselves. Sweet Saeward finally has a place to belong and people who love him. And now Loch! I was so happy with that outcome. And of course Sawyer is coming into his own. I love seeing him mature and grow. And I love how each mate is different and brings something special to the group.

Like I said, bloody brilliant! Now if I just had the next book already...😭😭😭

Best one yet!

I am so confused by what's going on but oh my lawd this book was good.

The pacing was exceptional, the build up to the 'big' action scene was superbly done and then, whammy, another plot element comes out of left field.

We've gained another Guardian too and I'm really happy to see him settling in and can't wait for the smexy times!

I said I'll read it slowly, I...read the 3rd & 4th book in the same day oh. So to speak, the plot thickens! I was so ready to see the fae 😁. Of course, this is also where lots of people get introduced & as someone who STILL hasn't read any other books in this universe, It had been confusing before, I expected it now tho. Like always, I love the mates (+sex 🔥) & the angst with Loch is delicious, yum. Even tho I knew them, the twists still surprised me again, I loved that 🥰.

Fuck this story...This series keeps getting better. I started this one immediately after the previous one & DEVOURED it around 6hrs. Gotta say, it surprised me in the best way!

SERIES REVIEW (Chosen One, Book 1-5)

I'm in Love & Awe with this series❤. With the Romance, hot Gay Sex & Adventures, it kept me on my toes! I popped two of my cherries with this series: This was my 1st by Macy Blake; My 1st Gay Harem, Fantasy & PNR made it all the more perfect; & the largest harem I've read till date, omg 9 guys?! I binge read this entire series😘.

The Individuality of each guy was Awesome & how we gradually meet'em. I loved the Multiple POVs!
We have our main guy: Sawyer; Smart, Complex, Creative, Delightful; The Chosen One, Human/Magical Null/God (?!?!).
Then we have the 8 Guardians...Who's attraction to eachother & Sawyer maybe unconventional but with Good reason! *Ahem, Mates*
Draco; Growly & Protective; The Dragon, Sawyer's Friend.
Henry; Smart & Guy Next door Vibes; The Mage/Seer.
Eduard; Elegant & Charming; The Griffin, Billionaire.
Andvari; Quiet & Observant; The Vampire Warrior.
Saeward; Sweet & Gentle Giant; The Hippocamp.
Loch; Funny & Sleek; The Fae Warrior.
Dakota; Dark & Deep, the one who took the most time to warm up to Sawyer (Reasons..!); The Lynx.
Pip; Cute & Hilarious; The Kushtaka. I'd have liked to have more time with him, as we get him in last book.

I love all of them so much! I adored all the Various side Characters here & how everyone talked most things out. The World-Building Is good (Enough to sustain The story), Macy made her whole Myth world, it's fun!
As the threat gets Revealed, Dangers increases. Secrets Found, Pieces of the Puzzle Stringed. The Finale was great! I hope, if I have time, I'll read the other books in the Chosen One Universe Soon! #MustRead

NEXT TO NOTHING
We visit the Fae Realm, Meet the 6th Guardian & Find Astounding Truths here!

So it's been a Few weeks since last book & The Fae prince, who claims to be Sawyer's Guardian too, is getting on everyone's last nerve. Even weirder Is that Sawyer & Our guys aren't drawn to the Prince but his Captain Guard -Loch. Sawyer's bro Mikey & His mates visit here (I'm so reading their book soon!).
Saeward has experienced so much & I adore that he opens up+Warms to our 5 (& We get hot mmmmmm sex too!).

When a Banshee attacks, The Prince teleports The other guardians & Sawyer to the Fae realm. Its beautiful & So much happens here!
Henry's Uncle's visit, Sweet talks, Attacks, New info, Loch getting close to our Gang, Fiery Sexual Tension, Meeting the Queen in Style, Finding Truths & Hidden agenda..!

I came to like The Prince, he's an awesome friend to Loch! Loch IS the 6th guardian (Ooh! The Kiss b/w L+Sawyer is hot!), A little one had hid the truth...
Back at home, It goes well, until it doesn't. We found Who's the Real Villain, Mikey gets hurt, There's the yellow eyes (7th Guardian?), & Sawyer is a...God?!?!
P.s. I hadn't said it before, but I love Sawyer's dog - Pearl!

Magnificent!!!!!

I enjoyed so much this one, so gripping, the plot was so intriguing, I was captivated from the start! The journey, the adventure and the action scenes were really well written, it was thrilling, and some spoons of comedy just made the right balance!
I absolutely loved the romance and let’s not forget the steamy scenes, they were so hypnotic, well builded and rich in details, but more than that, the connection, the romance among the MCs was superb!
And just for the cherry on top, came the surprises, the revelations, amazing, I was at the edge of my seat, and the last one made me fell from my chair!!!!! It was squeezed! High praises to Macy Blake!!!

For the Audible, Michael Dean was impressive, marvellous acting, beautiful voice and great technique!!! Congratulations for the spectacular perfomance!!!

If you like supernatural M/M book. Then you should definitely read this. Macy Blake has made amazing word. I loved this book so much, I ended up reading it all in one day.

The only annoying thing is that they are all cliffhangers. The first book wasn't as much. But the second one and third one are very much cliffhangers. Now I need book four.

We FINALLY get a glimpse of the big bad and let me tell you, he really is BAD. Too bad it was literally only a glimpse. Hope to see more of him in the subsequent books.

Oh and I think plot wise, this had the most movement, though I felt I was missing a bit of the overall story arc in this book. Turns out in the ideal reading sequence, I was supposed to read Mikey's book (Double or Nothing) and all 3 of the Hellhound Champion books (so far); Hell on Earth,Hell to Pay and Give Him Hell BEFORE reading this book. It threw me for a loop there for a while but I plan to rectify that because I am a stickler for reading series in their proper order unless they are stand-alone books.

Moving on, while I was disoriented for a while, it didn't take away my enjoyment of the book in general. I still laughed and felt with the many many guardians and felt vindication when my suspicions were confirmed concerning the Fae guardian.

What I didn't see coming however was that PLOT TWIST! It just about hit me on the side of the head and I loved it! Lol!

So even though I am itching to read book 4 now, I must give in to my compulsion and read all books that I need to in order to be on a better footing when I finally give Book #4 a go! Lucky for me, all these can be found on KU so Yay! So exciting!

Oh my goddess! All the stars!

This series somehow gets better and better all the time. The Chosen universe that Macy Blake has created is fascinating and gets more complex with each installment. Sawyer and his guardians and mates are all characters with such depth and unique stories and pasts, and are so varied even down to their most basic cellular makeups.. and yet they all fit so beautifully together I can't imagine them NOT being mates. However their harmonious household is suddenly thrown into subtle chaos with the arrival of Sawyer's newest fae prince guardian, and that is when things start to get complicated.

I will not speak to the rest of the plot in this review, as this particular book really needs to be experienced spoiler-free, so instead I will tell you that you don't want to miss where Macy Blake is taking this series. This series is HOT HOT HOT. It gets hotter all the time and wow I don't know how that is possible. I also don't know how Macy keeps track of body parts, but KUDOS for an amazing job ;)

But though this book and this series is super steamy and getting steamier all the time, the plot and series arc is even more compelling. There are secrets revealed in this one, and man - that ENDING. GUYS. Just wait. Mind. Blown. I could not put this book down until I was finished, and even then, I sat there with my jaw literally dropped, mind utterly blown. This is one intricately woven story I can't wait to get more of. I always enjoy the dynamic between Sawyer, Draco, Henry, Eduard, and Andvari, and really like seeing how far they have come as mates and how in tune with each other they all are. I LOVED getting to know Saeward more (seriously, I am in love with this guy), and the addition of *insert name here for yourself after you read the book* is AMAZING. Gah. So. Many. Secrets. I need the next book. I have no idea how I am supposed to wait... So go forth and one-click. You will NOT be sorry.

This is a direct sequel so I would not read this one until you have read the rest of the series first.

Still great

This is by far the best of the series as it kept me entertained the whole way through.
I love Sawyer and his protectors.
Sex is used heavily in these books to cement the bond between the chosen one (Sawyer) and his protectors, although in this one it wasn’t featured as heavily as previous books. It makes sense because you will fight to death to protect the ones you love. What I enjoy is that even though they are marked as protectors, that doesn’t mean they have to have a relationship with the others, or even Sawyer unless they want (but considering the mutual attraction between Sawyer and all of this Protectors this seems a null point) it’s all about choice.
I enjoyed the storyline in this one, about them not being sure of the Fae prince. I liked how that was resolved and the ending was so good, I was a little confused and then nearly crying because I want the next addition now 😊 I’m really impressed with how the author blends and weaves the storyline’s between the two series seamlessly
If you can handle the multiple partners then I would definitely recommend

Freakin' A!

Okay. Well, that just happened. I need the next book NOW!

This is not a stand alone. I highly suggest that you stop now and make sure that you have read all the other books in this series, the first book of the Hellhound series and Mickey's novella. This series builds upon each previous book and the Hellhounds 1 and the novella will be spoiled by feeding this first.

I enjoyed this book, there is some mystery and intrigue going on in the land of the Fae. While Sawyer waits for his newest guardian to return, he is troubled by his attraction to someone that isn't one of his guardians. Hot stuff happens. Danger happens. Lies are revealed. A HUGE shock happens at the end. Changed everything and yet changed nothing.

Macy Blake is an evil genius in the best way ever! I can't wait for the next book.

I received an ARC of this book from LesCourt Author Services. This is my honest opinion and review. I bought my own copy since I love this series and this book was a great addition to it.

OMG! I've been waiting for this book from the very second I finished reading the last one, and I had to reread all the other books in this world at least once to tide me over because I seriously didn't know if I would make it. I did, and it was worth every single second's wait.

It was really nice checking in on all our guys again and see how they are adjusting to all the changes that have been happening. I mean, not only are they dealing with the magical stuff, they are also dealing with the addition of new mates. I really like Ward and I'm happy learning more about him. Sawyer and Henry are still cute as all get out and I can never get enough of reading about them.

I know that this is billed as a reverse harem story, but I don't think it really is. It's totally a polyamorous relationship. Within the larger group, there are all kinds of relationships. You have all the guys as one relationship together, and then each of the guys has their own relationship with each of the others. That means you get whole group interactions and interactions in 2s or 3s. On top of a great story that keeps drawing me in further and further, we also get to see how a good poly relationship can work, and that it takes time and communication, but love is love, and it works for them.

We also get a glimpse of one of Sawyer's brothers and his mates. I wonder if their other brother is going to show up as well. I can't wait for the next one.
