The reality of harsh changes to her job are delivered to Morgan in a series of hurried meetings and phone calls. Morgan needs to enlist the help of her pal Skelter at the FBI, and she’d like to have Rob Platt along, but when will this mid-aged Canadian spy agency director ever get the things she really wants?

On an emergency stop enroute to New York, Morgan meets a remarkable canine soldier named Max. While they get to know each other, Morgan grants herself the chance to dream about a quieter life, but things continue to unravel. Her biggest challenge is yet to come, and it remains to be seen if Rob, Max, and Morgan can find anything like a happy ending to round it all out with.

Morgan’s not a movie spy, as you would have seen in her first two engaging novellas, Border Pieces and Border Shock. She knows how to handle herself in a fight, and she can leverage her psychic hearing power to track down the bad guys whether she’s in England, Canada, or the US. Morgan’s approach? Sometimes you have to shoot first and ask questions later.

About the author

Pam Robertson

10 books7 followers
Pam Robertson started thinking a lot more than usual about stories when her grade six teacher asked her to be a ghostwriter, though it was many years later that she hit the best-seller list and took to creating great stories seriously. Pam has been part of several best-selling anthologies, and her books regularly hit the A'zon bestseller lists for a time. Her published work includes over 250 pieces including her novella series featuring Morgan Winfeld, short stories, novels, articles, and training material for professional development. Pam's work has been implemented around the world, and in particular Canada, the United Kingdom, and United States.

Pam writes as her full-time job, and she likes to mess up the kitchen with culinary experiments when time allows, or her supper club is keen to try something new. She enjoyed a brief time as a celebrity jam and chutney maker, though her favourite job was one of her first ones, when she spent several years as a military musician.

This is the third book I've read in the Morgan Winfeld series, and it's my absolute favourite! It's a fast read, for sure, following the exploits of detective/action hero/love-seeking Morgan as she zig-zags across the world with her hunky, one-legged boyfriend, and a very well trained Malinois (like a German Shepherd, and similarly used by police agencies). My niece actually has a Malinois, so it was extra special for me following Max's adventures. He plays a lead role in this exciting romance novella, and I'm hoping the author includes him in any future Morgan Winfeld stories. (One kinky question unanswered: what DOES that man DO with his stump???? LOL) Great book! Highly recommend.
