When Kelsey Manning first met Luke Sontag, the air crackled, charged with an excitement neither could deny. But time - and tragedy - had destroyed any chance of lasting love. Yet Kelsey knew her estranged husband, though rough and brooding, was still the only man who could help her right a terrible wrong, even though he'd made it clear he wanted out of her life forever...
Luke Sontag had spent months in hell, sure he had failed his wife and family. Then, suddenly, here was Kelsey, only a signature away from being his ex-wife, back in his life again. Asking him to help her. Forcing him to feel something again...
But could passion alone seal a rift a heartache wide?
Honestly, I am all for second chance at love stories but for that I need to actually like the hero and I genuinely don't like cruel, MCP jerks! So the background h was roomates with H's lil sis and met him two year's ago at the hero's garage to convince him to attend his sis's wedding (which he doesn't coz he with a lot of difficulty was putting her thru college when she decided to marry a jerk he didn't like instead). For some weird reason these two hook-up & surprise heroine gets preggers & they marry (we are told h loves H - though god only knows why when he is stuck up over their class differences). Obviously he wants to be I am man, I support my wife when obviously h with her better qualifications can get a better job but well they somehow muddle along, their daughter is born & then at 5 months dies of SIDS. There is load of self-blame, they don't talk and H leaves and now divorce papers are waiting with hero for his sign. h comes to him coz his sis (the one he hasn't seen in two years) is in trouble, she came to h's place pregnant and bruised and abused by her husband & has disappeared. Of course the jerk doesn't care at first but the rest of the book is finding whereabouts of said sister, rescuing her & finding out the hell her two year marriage was.
I honestly didn't like the hero & found him cruel. He got the heroine worked up sexually twice & did not follow thru, such women are called tease so what do you call a man like that? Plus I felt h deserved much better.
