Tyson Wild Thriller #2

Wild Justice: A Coastal Caribbean Adventure

Rate this book
Another murder.
More deadly secrets.
An impossible situation.

When a body washes up on shore, Tyson and his retired Navy buddy JD put on their detective hats. But they might not like what they find.

Digging deeper into the mystery brings chaos and danger. And the duo find themselves the target of sinister forces. Living on a boat in the Florida Keys is a lot more treacherous than Tyson ever imagined.

To make matters worse, their personal lives unravel. JD’s incorrigible daughter finds herself in a life and death situation, and Tyson’s romantic involvements turn complicated.

Paradise comes with a price, and to bring the killer lurking in the shadows to justice, Tyler may have to sacrifice his chance at redemption.

Interesting plots so far.

So far, I like the premise, the locale, and the plot line of this series.
Struggling with the cavalier treatment of the female characters and the “locker room talk” regarding their appearance/value/overall purpose in the story. Lots of screaming/making poor choices/inability to serve a purpose seems to be the theme for any female in this writer’s cast of characters.
Even the female FBI agent is characterized as lacking in ability/intelligence and overall usefulness to the storyline.
I’ve also noticed the number of material highlighted by other readers is mainly regarding armament/gear which tells me that the readership is currently skewing younger & male.
Here’s the thing: 60% of Lee Child’s Jack Reacher series readership is comprised of women.
That may be a consideration moving forward for this author…or maybe not. Who can say. I will say this series isn’t lacking in action and the MC isn’t incapable, even if he is characterized as a braggart with very little strategic or critical thinking ability.
Smart is just as sexy as competence.
Complaining about “needing to deploy the troops” one week after his current situationship is post op from a massive injury (I won’t spoil her plot evolution) is bordering on intolerable and was a particular low for a main character that must become beloved for the series to grab a female demographic (if this author wants to make serious money/Netflix deals.)
Everyone loves a good operator but this character is no Reacher or Bond. I’m hoping he will evolve into a more complex being with nuanced dialogue that will match his operating abilities and moral compass which are already on point as an interesting leading man. The female characters are going to need to be more fleshed out and made to seem valued for something other than their appearance, waitressing abilities, and usefulness as sexual partners.
Reacher has Neagley. Bond had M in Goldeneye.
So far, there are no female characters for this MC to trust, respect, cooperate with that provide a foundation to offset the expected philandering that is usual and customary for this type of genre/character. Without sounding like the plot of the Barbie movie, we like our action Heroes to kick a$$ while ALSO having the ability to respect and co-work with capable women, otherwise it’s just becomes a penthouse forum story with lots of guns. I look forward to reading more from this author in hopes of improvement with the things I found missing.
It’s not like the storylines are at all boring but it does somehow feel like empty calories without the satisfaction factor. If every female character is going to be typecast as helpless/incompetent/vindictive/manipulative/there only for sexy time…
it will become tedious before long. It won’t kill this writer to toss in some baddies like every other successful action hero series. It would actually add to the standing of the main character.

Last night my wife had to go to work (banker preparing SBA loans for the employee payroll protection bill passed by Congress), the power was out for about 4 hours from an electrical storm, and I wanted to stay up until she got home -- I picked up my Kindle, and read the second volume of the Tyson Wild series. This is just more of the same of this type of the book, and it was what I needed. I didn't want to have to think too much, wanted a story that would keep me involved, and the Kindle solved the problem of not having power and light. It is good for what it is. It is not Tolstoy or Hemingway, but it is something to help you past the time. Again, if you like this genre of books (and I do), want to fiddle away 3-5 hours, this book is for you.

Wild Justice was a great read!

I'm so happy that I found the Tyson Wild series. I've read the first two books and can't wait to start the third. The series is in coconut key Florida and the main characters are Tyson and his buddy JD but they have lots of friends and relatives that are so much fun to read about. Justice Wild was full of action, fun and comic moments as well as serious ones. I laughed, teared up and was on the edge of my seat it was so exciting. I can't wait to start the third book as I'm sure it will be as good or even better than the first two.

Like an afternoon matinee when you find yourself with time to kill and a hankering for a fun movie. Not too serious, not too much of anything, this book provides the escape we look for in fiction. Fast paced with characters interesting enough to want to read more, you start one, you’re likely to read all three!

"A Fast Moving Criminal Mystery"

This is an entertaining adventure thriller as Tyson and his retired Navy buddy, JD, become detectives. Living on a boat in the Florida Keys begins to warp as they search for answers as they find something at the bottom near a reef. Chaos and danger finds them. Very fast moving story to sweep you across the straits and inlets of the Keys.

Good movement

Still a little awkward in his transitions and needs work on describing relationships. Could borrow some descriptive prose about locations. Maybe a couple of sessions with Dougherty.

Once I started reading I was unable to put it down.

It gets better and better

A great cast of characters along with a page turning plot. Our hero is in the mold of James Bond along with beautiful women. I look forward to the next challenge our main character takes on.

I finished his first book and it was so good I couldn’t put it down till I finished it. Just finished this one and it was even better! Great characters, storylines and plenty of action. What a fun read. I am now off to read the entire series and I suggest you should too.

Great believable story line

Tyler has more lives than nine cats. Too bad they don't help with day to day mundane life occurrences or problems with the fairer femme fatale that can pose an even danger to heart and mind.

A well-paced thriller, Bond-esq in parts. A quick lively read that kept me entertained, if not a bit predictable but all-in-all enjoyable, no need for brain matter here, does exactly what it says on the tin.

Russian’s & Sharks

Well, put those two together and you’ve got one hell of a story. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Tyson is pretty good too and juggling his women is another art form. Haha. Excellent

Great story

This ended too quickly. The character are great and I want more. He is too partial to scarlet color of blood. Also if I read correctly he uses hatch for door I
On boats. Bulkheads have doors and decks have hatchs

Wild Ride

This one was as exciting as book one. This is proving to be a great series. The characters are just right not too deep for a book with lots of action.

I thought this one was better than the first book in the series, although I liked the first one too.

Not so hot

This novel has a simplistic plot as well. Author doesn't do very thorough research. Too much Peyton Place for me.

Issues with quotation marks

There are several places I marked where there are quotation marks where they shouldn't be and vice versa. It's very distracting.
