Andrea McLean, No. 1 Sunday Times bestselling author and award-winning TV broadcaster, opens up about her journey from trauma, toxic relationships and divorce towards empowerment, happiness and healing.
Do you ever feel like you're just existing, not truly living? Do you often dwell on how unfair life can be, and how things haven't worked out the way you planned? We've all been there. But it's time to decide what YOU are going to DO about it. No matter what hand you've been dealt, it's in your power to take control and create a life alight with possibility and joy.
After walking away from an abusive relationship, Andrea McLean continued putting on a brave face and pretending that everything was fine - all the while ignoring the psychological fallout of her trauma. Finally, it came time to say 'enough!' It was time to make a change.
In This Girl Is On Fire , Andrea shares her journey to healing, along with universal lessons in overcoming past trauma, breakdown, burnout and more. Even more vitally, she lights the path towards finding what gets our blood pumping, our eyes shining, and makes us get up in the morning - what sets us on fire.
As a life coach, I often get asked to recommend books that will help my clients on their journey for change. There are so many books out there most of them telling us the same stuff but this was refreshingly different.
Andrea‘s account of her own personal journey is both raw and authentic, that in itself is a great read and you then have the added bonus Of a variety of self-help exercises that will help move you forward. I thoroughly recommend this book and will be recommending it to my clients.
I absolutely love Andrea so for me there was no doubt I was going to enjoy this journey. I have never read a self help kind of book but this was the perfect start to that genre. Andrea is an amazing human being inside and out and the way in which she helps you recognise things about your own life that she has experienced is incredible.
Wow , what a very insightful and genuine read . I can truly relate to this book in so many words . We truly look at celebrities and think they have an amazing life and have everything , but clearly Andrea lays herself bare with her life . Its brilliant and a few things I could take on board, but when I got to page 183/184/185 it was literally as if she was writing my life regarding a work colleague. Then shortly on to page 187 re friendships I felt embarrassed to read this is totally me 100% I just back off . I highly recommend this book
I’ve never meant these words more than I do right now when I say this absolutely is a must read, simple as that.
I read it in a day as I couldn’t put it down!
I loved the honesty, the humour and mostly I love the helpfulness of it and what a super book it is.
I believe people will find advice given in this book what can only be called a game changer if you’re willing to honestly look at your life and identify where work needs to be done and then follow through you’ll be glad you did.
I’m so glad the poem Don’t Quit was included. Until now I didn’t know it but it really glad I know it now.
I happily admit I purely only brought this book as a fan of Andrea and I’m impressed by the greatness of www.thisgirlisonfire.
As a regular viewer of Loose Women I was disappointed to see her leave the show but reading this and now understanding how important a change it was for her I’m simply just delighted for her and wish her every success and every happiness for the future. I’m confident that she will keep making and smashing goals the same way she has shared with us in this book so that we can too if willing to put the work in.
I’m about to recommend this book on all of my socials as I really think we all need to read it.
Finally, Thankyou for including the reading list at the end. I’d thought I’d need to go back to the beginning and get all the books mentioned but it turns out the work was done for me, so I’m grateful.

My girlfriend has just finished reading this book, and she said a lot of things Andrea talks about in the book, she can relate to. A simply amazing read, would definitely recommend.
The book had an ulterior motive and in the final chapters you realise it’s all about the website and her success. Tells you nothing you don’t already know - especially if your a career or independent woman - it will be placed firmly in the charity shop bag!
𝐁𝐨𝐨𝐤 𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐆𝐢𝐫𝐥 𝐈𝐬 𝐎𝐧 𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐞 Thank you to @hayhouseuk & the inspirational Andrea for this #giftedbook I try not to rate non fiction with stars, how can I possibly judge someone's true story? However what I will say, is that, this book is an absolute credit to its author, it is a truly inspirational read and one I highly recommend. I'm not sure if I read this at emotionally the right or the wrong time for me, as at times I could actually feel my heart begin racing, my adrenaline pumping, I was between anxiety at my difficulties and excitement at my future challenges. I have absolutely loved reading this and being a part of the exercises within. This was so relatable to me at the stage in my life I am now and the challenges I'm currently facing. I dont jump at a 'celebrity book' as I want to read a book for what IT is not who wrote it, and I have been given such an eye opening story of both Andrea's past and present and her wish for her future. It has been refreshing to experience her life being so normal, where she may be in our spotlight but she remains an ordinary messed up human being. We are all the same. Hugely inspirational, yes I've said to again, and a book I might just treat like a life bible #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #readersofinstagram #photosofbooks #bookworm #bookaddict #ilovereading #ilovebooks #igreaders #mumswhoread #readingmum #alwaysreading #neverwithoutabook #booknerd #bookreview #andreamclean #thisgirlisonfire #hayhouseuk #gifted
This Girl Is On Fire is the ultimate guide on how to live, learn and thrive in a life you love. However, it is not your average self-help book; rather than advice, TV star Andrea McLean serves up the raw, unfiltered truth.
The book is perfect for seeing situations in a different light, just like Andrea has done. Her candid sharing of personal experiences makes this book empowering and relatable, almost like having a personal life coach at your fingertips.
Packed with actionable steps and valuable takeaways, this book equips readers with the tools to make positive changes in their lives.
I work in publishing and stumbled upon this book after it was recommended on social media by an author who I have previously worked with, whose books Andrea gives a nod to. I’m glad I read it and recommend it to others looking for a book that is raw and real.
I must admit I had never heard of Andrea McLean as I have made it my life’s mission never to watch daytime tv, but I enjoyed this book, especially the chapter ‘how to love the life you’re living’ which is very true.
I very nearly gave up on this audiobook after the first chapter, as it seemed that it would be full of wishy-washy motivation and advice - and there’s certainly a lot of that - but the autobiographical elements were what I was here for, and that’s what I enjoyed most.
My thoughts and prayers, of course, go to Andrea for having sunk so low in her time of financial hardship that she had to use ‘’Buy One Get One Free’ out of necessity for the first time in a long while’ and resort to using loyalty points for her shopping. Heartbreaking.
