I’m on the run.

From my dad. From my home. And from the government’s new Young Offenders Centre, a teenage lockup for anyone the authorities deem undesirable.

Especially from Nick Curtis, the school bad boy who’s after my blood.

I didn’t bank on getting arrested. Getting jailed.

I certainly didn’t bank on Nick Curtis being locked up with me.

Neither did he.

And now? He wants revenge.

Now he wants me captured…

Honestly I was surprised how much I enjoyed reading the story. While I have read and enjoyed some NA romance books NA is not even on my top 5 types of romance books to read.

So why did I like the story? For one it was different and that helped keep my interest. I read it without moving. Also I liked the heroine. She stood up for herself. She didn’t take any abuse lying down but rather fought her abusers. I also liked that she was not a virgin because the hero certainly was not. Both had sex with OP after knowing each other but not since the story began. Talking about which there are a few sexy times that l liked as well.

There were only two things that I didn’t like about the story. I didn’t like the hero. The guy is a total jack jerk. He is selfish and mean and while he doesn’t physically abuse the heroine he treats her poorly nevertheless. Also I didn’t like that there was a cliffhanger. True I read an arc and maybe that is why I had no idea that it was coming. I am hoping that other readers are made aware of that before reading the story. I will be reading the next book in the series but I am disappointed that it will not be out for many months. Total bummer.

Received ARC from BookSprout for Honest Review.
I Give this Book a 3-3.5/5 Star Rating, Listing as 3.

Cliffhanger(?): Yes
Heat: 3-3.5/5, fast paced heat.
Romance: 2-2.5/5, it’s there but building :)
Suspense: 3.5/5
Drama: 4.5/5
Dark(?): No, not really. Not to me.

The cover got my attention, gorgeous cover.
The synopsis got my attention as well.
I love these types of genres, hard to find.
I think this is a pretty good concept, it was a struggle to fully get a good visual of what was going on because it is a bit fast paced and clogged, hard to focus on characters as well,
While the intro was very compelling, I do feel this book should’ve been book 2. I would’ve liked to start a series getting a sense of the world and pending relationships with a better insight, then going into a prison setting.

It would be a give or take to read the second book.

This book is definitely one of a kind. When they say it's a "dark, bully romance " keep the dark and bully, but take out the romance, at least FOR THIS BOOK, because Ms. Cox was a bully herself and ended this book in a damn cliffhanger!

Now, the the protagonists are decently written, even if you don't know whether or not to think of them as punk ass kids with over inflated egos for half the book, but as you delve into their history you start to learn a bit of what makes them behave the way they do, and I have to admit, I would probably be just as bad or WORSE, attitude wise, if even a portion of took place in this story happened to me.

The chemistry between the two is great, as Ms. Cox has not once failed to deliver on that front. One thing some readers should probably be aware of is yes, the protagonists ARE under 18yrs of age, and while the story never actually says how old they are, I am guessing they are 17. However, BOTH of them ARE consenting with EACH OTHER. There is talk of, and a scene of attempted rape, by someone else much older than the female protagonist.

So, if you are able to read scenes of such a nature, or listen to people planning to rape someone, I would suggest giving this book a try. If you can handle serials that is. Or partial serials. Because Ms. Cox may not live to finish the series if I get my hands on her!! I REALLY hate serials, or not having advance warning that what I'm about to read!! That being said, the story is really great.

Rubbish. Badly written, seemingly by a 13 yeaer old,. At least that's how it felt while reading this, because the poor quality of the writing and the cringingly awful pre-teen, bullying characters, made it feel like I was reading a 13 yr old girl's story on wattpad. I only got part way through and gave up unfinished.

Zero depths to the characters, no world building, no scene setting, with characters that are, as I said, irriating, obnoxious, annoying 13 year olds. If you want an example of the poor quality of the writing here's a copy and paste direct from the page-

"I don't want to tell him what the fuck that was all about. I've calmed down a bit now, and I'm ashamed. What the fuck that was all about was...". Enough to show the terrible quality of the grammar/writing.

That one example also shows the juvenile, irritating and cringing the "teenage" atmosphere of the writing, and therefore the whole book is as a result, and shows just how obnoxious, bullying and pre-teen the characters are, with their excessive, unnecessary cursing. Can't say anything positive about this, it's that bad.

Dark romance is my favourite genre, if you want a dystopian read written by someone who feels like they're an actual grown up writer, instead of a 13 yr old on wattpad, then I recommend Addison Cain's Born To Be trilogy, with stunning world building, and characters that have actual character. Or Emmy Chandler's Guardian Prison Planet, which, FYI, think Ms Stone took "inspiration" from.

This is a bully prison new adult dark book which ends in a cliffhanger. I left out the word romance as in this book there is no romance....yet
I dont really like reading books that end in a cliffhanger but once i read the description of the book i knew i had to read it and i must say i was not disappointed...i can not wait to read the next book and am impatiently awaiting for it to come out..
The world is a bit different from what we know....unruly and rebellious teenagers are thrown in prison where the boys are tought a trade and the girls how to be the perfect housewife...
The story revolves around Nick who is as alpha as you can get and Cara who he blames for being locked up...the sexual chemistry is absolutely intense between the two even though they cant stand each other....but they have one thing is common and that is .....Escape

*Spoiler Alert*
Yoc (Young Offenders Center) for detaining so called feral youths. Teenagers who are deemed to not tow the line. Nick and Cara (FMC) have a history. One that got Nick sent to Yoc and now that Cara has been sent there too a game of cat starts between them. Add to that a controlling dad - The Colonel, his creepy, handsy friend - Weston, his hateful daughter - Marcy and her horrible mother. Yoc is full of dysfunctional people and the majority of them have a problem with Cara. Bloody hell that ending though?? Knockout!! A totally fantastic read and i cant wait until the next book

This book drew me in from the start. Although it's a short story you don't miss a thing. Cara is a tough girl with a touch of vulnerability and Nick is the sexy alpha male.
In a world where unruly teens are throw in jail, there 's no telling what can happen. Nick hates Cara because he bla!s her for getting caught and Cara just wants to survive. When things happen they have to join together if they plan on escaping.
This is the first book in the series and I seriously can not wait for more.

I loved the look of the cover of the book. The blub sounded interesting and I was also interested in what a "Bully" bock was like as I don't like bullies. It was dark and very intense. Kept you reading till the very end. Yes there is a cliffhanger but the book was good and I will definitely get the next book. Cara and Nick's story held my interest and they went through some crazy stuff. First time reading this author's work. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I considered giving this book 2 stars but decided to give it 3 stars because I did enjoy the storyline although there were things about the book that annoyed me. The author must have stated over 50 times that the Colonel is Cara's dad, that Nick hated Cara. There was a lot of constant repeating of things a paragraph later it was if the repetition was done so that the story could last longer. I am glad that I only spent $3 on this book in ebook format. I will not be reading the remainder of the series as the series probably could have been one book.

Very powerful, dark and gripping read, I was entranced all the way through. Some hard hitting issues broached in this story, bullying, rape, domestic, psychological and physical abuse. I thought the story was amazing and the characters were well developed, the cliffhanger at the end....... I cannot wait to dive right off that cliff and into the next book.

This was certainly an interesting book and I am going to read the next one. I didn't like how the h was constantly attacked and what happened to her hair. Although I do appreciate her being able to take care of herself. I was hoping for more between the H and h which I think was really missing. Hopefully, the next one will have better interactions between them where they are not enemies. It was just a bit too gritty.

I loved this book because it's different and dark which with so much out there that's rare.

Nick and Cara story held my interest and just made me jump in to their crazy and twisted world. There is a cliff because this is the start of a series but don't let that stop you from enjoying it.

I am oh so ready for what's next...

Nick and Cara end up in jail and Nick blames Cara for them getting caught. While there, they need to work together so that they can escape the danger they are in. Fast-paced read with loads of drama suspense and steam. The story has plenty of twists and turns and it really draws you in. I am looking forward to the next in the series. A good read.

★ Cornered in the YOC ★

—>>> This new adult bully/enemies-to-lovers romance was a great read and kept me interested throughout, with both Cara and Nick having to watch their backs at every corner of the story, but first there was the reason Nick was jailed in the first place, giving the motive for vengeance. Looking forward to seeing what happens in the next two books of this series!

DNF at 60-70%
The only interesting thing about this book is the storyline, everything else is as if a teenager wrote this book. The writing is...weird, it doesn’t allow the reader to fully grasp the situation. The heroine was supposed to be tough but came out a pushover. She did boxing and had so many tattoos but didn’t come out as badass.
So good storyline but horrendous writing.
