You want to succeed. You want to reach your goals. Even more, you want to make a difference. You want to inspire others and help them to succeed.
But that takes leadership. And according to what you have seen, heard, and read, that means you have to be a larger-than-life personality. You have to have a celebrity status on social media. You have to be the most organized and structured human on the planet. You have to memorize thirty-seven different personality types and know how to communicate properly with each one.
How in the world can you do that and still find a way to lead by example? Apparently, being a leader is only for super-humans that have some type of natural-born qualities the rest of us just do not possess.
This is what you’ve grown to believe. That is why your business has become a struggle and a burden instead of a purpose and a passion.
I've mentored some of the top leaders in the network marketing industry, and trained thousands in my online training groups. I've spent four years developing simple systems that help average people to get extraordinary results.
This book will challenge you to lead from the front and become the kind of person that people want to follow. You will also learn simple systems, that when applied, will lead to team energy beyond what you could imagine!
I honestly do not remember how I came to follow Josh Coats but I have been a follower for almost 5 years. I completed his Art of Recruiting course twice (no longer offered), I've attended live events in which he was a speaker at, I've been on his mailing list for years, attended free trainings and been invited to participate in Zoom calls because one of the leaders I work under is a client of his!
When I heard he wrote this book "F*** Leadership" and how it was a different way of addressing leadership I knew that it was going to be a must read especially with all of his experience with network marketing companies. The book is broken up into 4 sections and essentially breaking leadership down into 4 sections. I won't go into detail about the sections because you have to read the book but I know that where I am in my business, I am in the first section. I even went so far as to single out the different sections and highlight the top and side of the pages so that I can easily reread the sections that apply to me and where I am in my business.
Also, if you're like me and love to read a physical book, check out his website because you can get his book for free...which really translates to you pay like $6 for shipping which is still cheaper than if you bought it on Amazon...so you get his book for $6! I would have paid full price on Amazon...without prime...to get direction that Josh gives.
Josh is a five star coach and mentor! I would recommend this book to everyone. Definitely a must read for anyone who is struggling with leading a team.
Mea culpa - I did not read the description well enough to realize this was primarily about network marketing, and purchased it for the title's motivation and mentoring alone. While some of the advice is sound, it's primarily common sense - work, improve, set a good example, and set achievable goals. Be honest about your flaws and fix them.
The writing is decent and enthusiastic, as shown here:
"My challenge to you is to act bigger than you speak. My challenge is to completely undo your ideas of what it means to be a leader, and then, to rebuild from the ground up. Grow your conviction of being that someone, not just looking or sounding like someone who fits a glittering image of a leader."
Leaders are glittery and sparkle? Huh, who knew?
Much of the advice is cited from other authors or motivational speakers. Kudos for citing sources, but if I wanted to read them I'd have picked up their books instead. A significant quantity of the book, which I DNF'ed at 40%, is devoted to the author's own awesomeness at his online mentoring business, and how much money it makes. I'm not convinced enough to continue, or to click through to his site for follow-up questions. It tends to read as self promotion disguised as advice; not my favorite style.
If you are in network marketing and have a team you are trying to lead you need this book! Josh breaks down leadership into the simplest of terms but in a way you can start taking action right away! It’s a gut check but in the best way possible!
Josh is a no nonsense kinda guy. Excellent principles and calls you out on your limiting beliefs and habits. While I'm not a fan of the language, the approach is spot on. He gets down to the bare bones and helps you dig deep to get moving in the right direction.
It flows nicely so it was a quick read. If you have audible - tune in. He's great to listen too. His passion comes alive and you get caught up in his energy.
