A cryptic language, hidden power... Easter Island, 1252 A.D. Two natives return to an island in chaos. A giant, stone Moai statue lies face down in the dirt. Computer Science major Colt Kelly visits the British Museum where he meets Alison Masters, daring daughter of an Oxford linguistics professor. Alison introduces Colt to an a wooden tablet bearing inscriptions in rongorongo, the still undeciphered writing of Easter Island. Colt boldly claims he can write a program to translate what has remained impenetrable for over 300 years. A Russian hacktivist sees Colt's program as the key to privacy in a world of Big Brother snooping. A government agent sees it as a threat, as privacy is the saboteur of security, and terrorists might use the program to plot openly with impunity. As Colt translates the texts, headaches, hallucinations, and an MRI suggest the artifacts are affecting his mind. And while others covet the language for what it can do, Colt discovers that what it says could be far more important. For somewhere in the Pacific, the "powers of Motu Mu" await.
