Just finished reading this a while ago ! Honestly speaking, this is probably my all time favorite now! I 100000% recommend this! It's just like the mega combo of all kinda things like Action, Fantasy etc! It's filled with unexpected twists and turns that you would never expect! You get the feeling to read more, to not stop, seek answers! I've never been concentrated on a book like this, read every word, every emotion. There were also parts that seemed so relatable as a teenager and parts that made memories come back to me! This is an amazing culmination of everything! I'm someone who doesn't normally read books and I spent the entire day reading this so this a really really really really really good book. I really never thought I'd enjoy it so much! It's incredible and astonishing! You'll laugh, cry, experience a variety of emotions. It's beautiful! This will always be a special book to me. I've never thought I'd actually love a book this much. I'm hoping for a sequel and a movie! I think the best part is Magi Davis who is so relatable. Her sarcasm especially for me haha! I also loved how beautifully the characters were written, especially Magi. All of them had amazing development throughout the story and it felt like they are actual people. It's all perfect. Reading this, it feels like it's written by an experienced author who's already released many many books when it's actually a debut novel! Every chapter is interesting in its own way. It's a lovely book! I'd definitely recommend this to anyone! Get ready, this book will definitely exceed your expectations. Congratulations Liana!- Nandita

I've been a fan of Liana Ramirez ever since Power Rangers Beast Morphers (she was brilliant as Roxy) and I was so excited to read her book. However, the story quickly lost me and kept losing me until the end.

My main issues with this book are a lack of adequate proofreading (there were mistakes on almost every page of the book that took me out of the story at times) and a plot that, however ambitious, felt all over the place. The story was interesting enough and there were definitely some very good moments, but at times I had no idea what was going on or how it was serving the overall story.

I really enjoyed the bond between Carter and Magi - that is probably my favourite thing about this book :) I like all the supporting characters as well, even though I thought Isis's story and her connection to Magi were a bit predictable.

The Secrets Within Me reminded me heavily of The Chronicles of Kane by Rick Riordan (both books even had a character named Carter) and that didn't work for me personally. I really like The Chronicles of Kane but I wasn't really in the mood to read a story so similar to that series.

Overall, The Secrets Within Me is a stellar debut that suffers from plot and proofreading issues, but grasps the concept of character really well and occasionally makes you feel something for them.

(Love Love Love this book!!!!)*10000 ,I've never read a book so fast in my life before! The Secrets Within Me definitely sets off an excitement from the beginning and an interest to want to know what happens next! This has become my MOST FAVOURITE BOOK EVER! The characters are just so interesting and I've grown to love all of them and especially Magi and Bastet too!! Love her sarcasm and She's so adventurous , brave and really loves her friends and family more than anything! The book features a lot of genres like fantasy , mystery , thriller , adventure , and a lot more and still put together so amazingly ! Also the description of the scenes is so awesome I could get a clear picture in my head! Among all the teen fiction books I've read this ones definitely my FAVOURITE! The ending definitely crossed my expectations and I just loved it! It's definitely the MOST BEAUTIFUL and WONDERFUL ending I've ever read! The epilogue screams for a sequel that I so much need! This book is definitely beyond EXQUISITE!!!💛🔥

While this may be the debut novel or writer and actress Liana Ramirez, you’d think she has been well into her writing career for a while now. Coming from a very obvious place of passion for the the story and for writing in general, this book follow Magi Davis discovering secrets about her life that have big things in store.
Danger, magic, adventure- it’s the best parts of your favorites stories In one and has the making of a movie adaptation. Do NOT pass on this book and make it part of your collection because this is just the start of something much, much bigger from this author. Highly recommend.

It wasn't bad for somebody's first YA novel, but it wasn't great either. I think Liana is capable of creating something better than her current work.

Liana Ramirez's First Novel is Mesmerizing and a Book You Cannot Put Down!

Liana Ramirez creates a visual masterpiece in her debut novel, "The Secrets Within Me." If you like fast action, adventure, stuff about myths, and enjoy Young Adult (YA) novels, then this is the perfect book for you! Only 297 pages long, she took me from a quiet home in Seattle, Washington, to the Indiana Jones adventures of Egypt! It has been a while since I have found a book that I can sit down and read from start to finish. I was just entranced in her writing style and how each of the characters unfolded. Talking about the characters Magi is a very relatable character, and out of all of them is the most relatable at the beginning of the book she is a senior in high school, applying to colleges, then a secret blew up her life. I had a similar experience in my life, not as fiction as hers, but I can relate. Also, her parents travel a lot, and when I was a child, that was the chase for my life, so I understood where she was coming from. THIS IS PROBABLY, no not probably 100% IS ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS I HAVE READ ALL YEAR! I am also gonna post a spoiler version review as well!

I feel like I’m the only one on this app who doesn’t like this book. The writing bothered me, the characters were horribly written, and it was obviously this authors debut book. The plot was weirdly paced, and there were writing inconsistencies and incorrect grammar on literally every page. I can ignore the other things, but incorrect grammar is really hard to get over for me. All you have to do is not make spelling errors. Maybe, I don’t know, get an editor. If you can’t, ask your parents to read it and correct your grammar. I mean, I get it like in reviews and short stories and stuff, but a published book? It just felt very amateur. The world building was strange, half of it being in California and half of it being in Egypt. Honestly, I thought it was kind of dumb. I’m not trying to be hateful, but I just really did not like this book. I’m sorry, because everyone else did, but it’s the grammar. I really cannot get over it. It would’ve been much more enjoyable had the book been correctly written, grammar-wise. Anyways yeah sorry if I offended anyone ❤️

WOW!! 😱😍 I have no words!!! I'm speechless 🙊!!! This masterpiece, and Liana, exceeded my expectations- and they were high!!!
Greek is my mother language but my English is decent so I didn't have a hard time understanding what I was reading at all!!! I'm not gonna spoil, so no worries!! I respect those who haven't read it yet! This book is totally worth it!!! It's a must-read!! Get your copy from Amazon, while it's still in stock!! I hope we get to see a movie adaptation, starring Liana herself as Magi of course!!! And judging by the epilogue, a sequel may be in the works (?)!

Liana Ramirez, as a beginner author, immediately knew how to captivate her audience -many would believe the thanks go to her entertainment training in acting. This book was an incredible read and kept me turning the pages all night from start to end. Since it is self-published and I’m not sure about the editing process but I found a few full-stops missing and a word or two misspelt (but this may be a printing error?). I truely hope some publishing house recognises the amazing talent and work Liana put into TSWM. The style of writing and basically the story itself is like no other I’ve read before. Daring, adventurous, has comedic reliefs and keeps the reader guessing and trying to connect the dots. A truely wonderful read.

PS; WE NEED A PREQUEL AND SEQUEL ASAP!!! (Spoilers) like the story of how R.J. And Steven got into Egyptology and figured out how to enter the Realm, Steven and Isis’s love story, R.J and Mariah, the ancient war, the Organisation and its Agents/What happens now after TSWM?, will R.J. Tell Carter whatever the secret is? Which Gods does Carter need protecting from? Why does Magi always notice Carter’s eyes? I have a feeling they link to something... and also, is Serena at the end of the book, another child like Magi? What does her (new) necklace represent/mean not only in general but for Magi and everyone else?
So many unanswered questions in the world of TSWM and can’t wait for what the future may hold for this story x

I almost DNFed this book, the writing style was repetitive. The world building was all over the place and had an issue with the word “spaz” being thrown around.

I only read it so simply because that’s how it’s written….

This is a debut novel from ‘Power Rangers: Beast Morphers’ star Liana Ramirez. You can tell it’s a debut

I needed editing, or at least a beta reader because I just didn’t enjoy it. The main character is vain and annoying at times. However, her friendship with Carter was actually beautifully written and that’s the reason I’ve given this book 2 stars.

The concept was great, but it wasn’t conveyed that way.

I couldn’t deal with Magi getting attacked in almost every chapter.

This book had some really good reviews but it wasn’t for me. I’m glad I finished it because I did like the ending.

2/5 stars.
Cool concept.
Nice friendship.
It just could have been written better.

I was really excited about reading Liana's novel, and as soon as I read it I was really desperate and excited to know what Magi's secret was. However, I believe that adventure doesn't end just yet. They're still more secrets within Magi somewhere inside. One of the best things about this was I was introduced to more pieces of Egyptian culture like Ra's brother. The only question I have for Liana Ramirez and The Secrets Within Me is, what happens next? Only time will tell. Until then, Liana, I really love your book and your talented acting, don't ever stop.

This book had a interesting start. That gave a good understanding of the story and how it led to what it became. Also, I feel like this is a real good book to pick up if you are starting back up on reading. As the book has a really good character building elements, Details, and Action along side adventure. I would recommend this book especially if you are interested in mythology or anything adventurous.

LIANA RAMIREZ, the next JK Rowling. How is the 24 year old so talented? I’m only 12. So she is my inspiration as an author as well as an actress/older sister. I love her so much.

The secrets within me is a mystery book. I love Magi’s story and the visuals in it are so so good. Fairy Play Liana for this amazing book. 9 year old you must’ve been so inquisitive!

Filled with captivating characters, surprising twists and turns, along with non-stop adventure, this is a must read book for all ages. If I didn’t know this was Liana’s first book, I would already be searching for everything else she had written. Instead, I can’t wait for the sequel (please tell us there will be one)!! It’s like Hermione meets Aladdin and then they run into Indiana Jones and go on an adventure like no other. Except it’s Magi we are journeying with here and she is one special heroine. I think my favorite thing about this book is that it is written in a way that truly invites the reader to imagine every scene. The book literally comes to life as you read it. I was hooked from page 1. More please!!

Thank you to the author for a copy of this debut novel in exchange for an honest review!

This beauty was fast paced and action packed from the start. It was fun to see the character growth for Magi and her handle the difficult life changes that the world threw at her, while still being true to herself and protecting the people she loves.

It was a really fun and binge worthy read, very much enjoyed!

This is the best book ever! I love it so much. It is the perfect mix of humour, sarcasm and plot twists. Any Percy Jackson or Harry Potter fan should read this. One day it will be a whole series with movies and merch. Liana Ramirez is a genius and if I ever get to meet her I will quite literally die. <3

My only criticisms of this book is the use of the s- slur and the writing style can become slightly repetitive in the use of the same adjectives etc.
