3/5🌟

When I started this, I was expecting a slow, slice of life farming life like any others with the similar theme I've read. I didn't think it was more convoluted in such a few chapters. The plot got so complex but the author couldn't cover all the bases. It felt rushed and the twist and turn went in a direction that felt out of nowhere. Halfway through the story, I was wondering where the plot is leading because genres I never expected just popped out. There are also a lot of plot holes and a lot of discarded characters.

I liked the romance itself, though. If it maintained the simple, slow life without trying to insert complex plot, just the MC and the ML and their family living their day to day life, I might like this better. The plot is not bad, it just got really unnecessary, in my opinion. Still enjoyed this though. It's short and quick read.

3.5

This was a well translated novel but the story itself was a mishmash of every popular genre for online novels (transmitigation, rebirth, cultivation, apocalypse, ABO, futuristic, memory loss, historic), and not in a good way. I felt the author wanted to squash every type of novel into one, sometimes at the expense of logic or an engaging plot. For all the twists this novel has, there's very little sustained conflict and I found myself a bit disinterested since I knew conflicts would resolve themselves magically somehow.

Usually, the side stories would wrap a nice bow around the story and give it a sweet resolution, but I didn't get that impression from the side stories for this novel. It felt like the author was racing to tie up loose ends so this book could be finished.

The characters were all sweet and cute and the main protagonist was a rather interesting person overall. A few of the main plot points (such as him being from a zombie world and the various other features that come with it) were pretty unique, but overall were relatively ineffective due to the rather rushed ending. If you're looking for some well written and generally interesting fluff, it really will be a great novel for you.

80% is good, but the author introduces too many ideas to the same story. Like supernatural powers, zombies, transmigration, golden fingers, systems,... The story itself is good, yet the added ideas seem too forced in the same narrative.

I honestly didn't like this one much. The MC and ML got together too quickly without bothering to develop the relationship. There were a lot of random plot points for not very good reasons. Things were introduced but then didn't really have a point and the story would have essentially been the same without them. For example, All of that was unnecessary, it could have just been a story of Lin Mo and Cheng Yan and it would have been exactly the same. Also, there didn't seem to be a plot? Lin Mo was just anxious that the past life would come true while Cheng Yan spoiled him the entire time. Most of the time the book was about Lin Mo sleeping (literally just sleeping, this book was 100% smut free) with Cheng Yan or Lin Mo resting. I guess if you just want fluffy nonsense, this book is for you.

This was an interesting book? The author integrates a lot of different tropes into this “transmigration” story. It starts out with the protagonist transmigrating into the body of a “ger”. It’s pretty slow paced and talks a lot about farming and family life in the country side. Although the story up until this point isn’t exciting it was still pleasant to read and then a new development or twist to the story was added one after another taking the story into a totally different direction. I’m still not sure how the title “Retirement Life” even fits in. The story itself is not very long with only 70 chapters and 4 extra chapters. The last chapter, chapter 70, fell very flat. It’s actually not much of an ending at all. It seemed more like the end of a chapter than the finale of a novel. Although this story had a lot of potential, it fell short in execution. All the different sub-plots were presented without any real development and just glossed over making the story feel incomplete. This is probably due to the work being just 70 chapters long. I’m sure if the author actually developed each of the many plot points the novel would have been 700 chapters instead of 70, lol. At the end of the day I wouldn’t consider this novel to be good, but it wasn’t bad enough for me to discourage anyone from reading it.

WHAT DID I JUST READ?

Damn, I wasted my time to read this?

When I read the summary, I was hoping something with dogblood or fluffy things. I did get the fluffy but all I could say is BORING

Everything was so boring. I read until the end and I couldn’t feel anything at all? No climax no conflict. And if it’s not enough; the whole timeline is so confusing.

Plus the zombies and then the past then the zombie then the past then (anyway you got it)

The translation is good, which is the reason I can continue, but oh well.

It’s like you have all in this, time travel, transmigration, abo(mpreg), amnesiac, and then voila it went to nothing. It was just so bad

The only reason I gave this 2 stars is the fluffiness between the main couple. Even that was not enough to save the whole story.

come one, whats the point of having the female transmigrator if you’re not even going to use it? Plus wth with that zero one? Everything is just so anticlimatic it left such a bad taste

It was good at first, but just like everyone said, too many element was added (i hate it) and the ending.. i know the author want us to use our creativity (or whatever idk), but i like definite ending. I want to read things that has good ending and cover everything. I was shocked when the chapter has ended and continue to the extra in hoping it will atleast have an epilogue... But extra 4.. wut. Alright. Could be better..

As for character, i kinda hate it when zero one was introduced, i was like 'dang, a robot or whatever is this? Ridiculous!' then, zero one/noah extra, about their father.. seriously, stop adding so many genre/element ffs. I have no problem understanding the novel/translation but seriously, toooo many element.

And, this is more to slice-of-life kinda novel. Doesnt have that many revenge/hateful moment. You can relax while reading this. Really. Also, where can i find husband like Cheng Yan? So understanding and all! Like, he is very husband-slave ehek. Kbye.

At first I kind of a bit like — uhm? 🤨 because the story started focusing on the family of MC. For quite a while. It’s also quite lengthy so I felt it long before I can reach the part when the ML came. But really, it worth it. If you feel like whut at first, push through.

This story also unique compared to another reincarnation story because there’re so manyyy reincarnated character. It pop up one after another. Left to right. There’s also a reborn character, robot-with-some-system kind of character, zombie with apocalypse (kinda?) and ancient setting. Like the author dump all the possible genre in the story. But don’t worry, it not that confusing as long as you don’t skip paragraphs while reading.

All in all, I can confidently say that I stayed for the sweetness between MC and ML. Doting ML to the fullest. Thing that I quite disappointed? — The fact that they don’t have a child tgtr 🤧

Also also, new term I have learned — ger — male who can get pregnant.
