Bad Magic Bounty Hunter #2

Motherducking Witches

Rate this book
I'm Sylvie Orion. Normally I'm a bounty hunter, but now I'm a prisoner of destiny, a destiny I never asked for, a destiny I might not survive.

My soul's been stolen and with it my magic, my vampire sidekick is dust, and Shifter Nation seems to think I'm their personal pawn.

Oh, and if I go, so does the world. I'm not sure the motherducking witch who stole my soul read that particular fine print.
My only option is to find a way to come out on top the next time the wheel turns. I'm not giving up. The world is counting on me, the worst witch to ever witch.

The next installment of Bad Magic Bounty Hunter series is a full length novel and a perfect read for fans of Stephanie Plum and Twilight.

This wasn't quite as engaging as the first book and definitely didn't end in a way I anticipated. Not sure what felt different about this compared to the first book but it didn't quite hold my attention like the first did and the characters didn't come alive on page like I hoped they would.

Genres, settings, categories, themes: fantasy, paranormal (shapeshifters, vampires, witches), magic, cozy, action?, NA? (based on tone, not ages)

💗 Tropes: 💗
> Chosen One
> Coming of Age
> Fated
> Quest

Unclear if it is meant to be a romance...if it is:
> Age Gap (Fantasy style - over generations)
> Return From the Dead (kind of?)
> Shared Past?
> Slow Burn
all about tropes here

Series/Sequencing Style: 2nd in a dynamic series, should not be read as a standalone, cliffhanger!!! can't tell if more books are coming? weird...

~ MC (Sylvie) ~ 1/5 🌕🌑🌑🌑🌑 She’s just lame, lame, lame. Can’t do anything until she’s given powers. Not entirely sure what her personality is. She's so annoying, like she has a 3 foot jump off a ladder, after just becoming a shapeshifter who can cover ground in leaps & bounds, and she's freaking out because she says she's *not good at parkour*, girl, I could do that.

~ Side characters ~ 2/5 🌕🌕🌑🌑🌑

~ Pacing ~ 3/5 🌕🌕🌕🌑🌑

~ Plot ~ 3/5 🌕🌕🌕🌑🌑, execution 1-2/5 🌕🌗🌑🌑🌑

~ Romantic connection ~ 0-0.5/5 🌗🌑🌑🌑🌑 The relationship between Sylvia & Vitor is super weird. I wouldn't call it a romance even. So Idk, but the romance part of this series is whack.

~ Comedy ~ 1/5 🌕🌑🌑🌑🌑

📝 Review/Notes 📝

Really confused by all of the positive reviews, I feel like I'm missing something.

It’s kind of funny because I ended the first book hearing about how the author writes paranormal romance and being like *wow well that was lacking, usually there’s heat in those* and then this book opens with a sex fantasy haha. It definitely felt like the author tried to imbue this book with more heat, but there was no love interest, so it was weird and disjointed. I think she should probably stick to smutty shapeshifter romances, which I'm guessing are probably her specialty. This felt like a foray into a more fantasy-adventure-based book with, ya know, like, wider world building and grand plot points – and it fell flat.

I’m not going to continue with the series, as it didn’t improve enough for me with the second book.

I can acknowledge that these books are trying to do a lot, but I can’t really explain how they just fall flat. Could be a unique plot, but ends up feeling like a lackluster reincarnation (get it, like the MC) of a bunch of other stories in the genre. Idk, I just didn’t connect to these books at all and am not sure why they weren’t better.

Some other cons:

• World building is lacking
• Does she really not realize Vitor was like forever-in-love-mated to the first witch? It’s been so obvious since the first book. She’s dumb.
• The tone of voice felt immature, whether that was the writing or the MC’s age/voice, I'm not sure.

I liked this final book in this series, but do wish there had been more of them! This one picks up pretty much where the previous book Motherducking Magic finished. Sylvie has lost her soul to the High Priestess and at the minute has very little chance of getting it back. Vitor, the vampire, has been turned to dust and Sylvie is effectively a prisoner of the werewolves and other shifters.

She has to work out how to get her soul back, how to defeat the High Priestess, get away from the shifters and resurrect Vitor. A pretty huge to do list there, especially for a witch with very little power. She is also highly wanted and anyone and everyone is looking for her! Luckily for Sylvie, she has a connection to the First Witch, who is able to help her out a bit and finally things start going her way a bit more. However, it is never easy!

This book was definitely more of a rollercoaster ride, with Sylvie and Vitor running here there and everywhere, trying to do what they can with very little in the way of support! Sylvie definitely had her plate full, but knowing it was her true destiny made it all seem worth the effort!

Although I really enjoyed this one, seeing Sylvie getting her magic, her abilities and finally being able to cast spells that worked instantly, I felt the ending was a bit flat. I do think there should have been another book, but the author did say at the end, that she was giving this series a rest, which is a shame as I think another book to show how Sylvie battled against or convinced the witches and shifters of who she was is needed to complete her journey.

Will be keeping my eye open in case the author ever returns to this series!

Motherducking Witches is a highly unexpected and brilliantly exciting continuation of this fun and amazing series. It allows us to take a deeper look into this beautifully complex storyline that has wrapped itself around my heart and won't let go. My heart soared to be back into this world surrounded by it's fascinating characters and a plot that will not quit lighting my spirits and making me hope. I wanted more, and I got so much more then I ever hoped for. What a wonderful journey!

Sylvie finds herself in an ugly reality. She can't run or hide from what is coming. All she can do is hold on and hope she survives the coming storm. Nothing has prepared her for what is around the bend, but she will not chicken out. Above all she will fight for what she knows is true. Can being right keep her on the good side of everyone, or will she find that others perception is all that really matters?

I continued to cheer for Sylvie. She has had to face so much and none of which she was prepared for. Learning on your feet is a hard way to face issues much less come out unscathed. I am glad she has had an ally or two along the way to encourage and help her out. Friends are truly worth their wait in gold.

Michelle Fox had once again brought my world to a screaming halt with awkward finesse and plenty of attitude. Every step of this journey has shredded my heart as it slowly rebuilt it with one beautiful revelation after another. She is a fantastic author who knows how to touch your very soul with her stunning words of power. Don't miss out on this unforgettable series!

Wow this para cozey mystery is really well written with a great story that slowly comes together with a fabulous array of mane characters and supporting characters most very vibrant all quite colorful and quirky. Who can resist reading about a para witchy bounty hunter. The characters draw you into this hilarious mystery then the mystery becomes its own mystery drawing you further in and once you begin to understand the plot you're hooked not being able to put this intriguing, exciting and dynamicly adventurous para cozey mystery to the side until you have surprisingly reached its unexpected and climatic conclusion. Acquire " Motherducking Magic " today for hours of enjoyable comical and mystifying magical entertainment. Kat

Sylvie may be a witch but she was a much better bounty hunter. After she lost the vampire that helped her out with the magic world she found out her missing soul could mean the end of everything. Then, yeah, there's more, the shifters who were supposed to be protecting her had other plans. Not something she had any interest in.

Battles, magic, creatures she knows nothing about, and conversations with her soul. Yep, lots of action, a world filled with paranormal, and learning to deal with her magic. Her funny furry buddy gives some comic relief to the battles.

An end to the series but with a promise to see more of this world in the future.

REVIEW
Sylvie is back and trouble with a capital T. has followed her.
She basically is at the mercy of the shifters, has lost her vampire friend, she has basically lost hope in everything. She needs major help to get back what was stolen, and fast.
But what's a witch that has no magic to do? Beg, borrow, steal yep that's right...
So kick back and hold on tight cause this story brings us into battle and so much more for Sylvie...

"Motherducking Magic” #2 is another fantastic must read that’s action-packed & has great characters, like vampires & shifters, a strong heroine and lots of snark ;) I loved Sylvie & didn’t want to stop reading when I had to! ... I never write spoilers or recap blurbs, but I do know when a book is awesome, and I do highly recommend this to Adult fans of fiction. Even tho I volunteered to read this author's work, these are my honest feelings without any outside influences and I can't wait for more ;)

Amazing! Sylvie is a kick butt character without or with magic. How many times can a woman be a prisoner and just keep on going? Well she does it and beats them at their own game. She is sarcastic and tough. I got to really like her mom in this one. We get to see a different side of her. Vitor is still gloomy but I keep hoping he will have a part in Sylvie’s life. Blart may be the weirdest and smelliest dog, but he knows how to make a scene. There is so many twists and turns that I never could of predicted. The story is so good and I can’t wait for the next book.

A fun action packed fantasy read...

Overcoming the odds is Sylvie’s super power. And man, does she find herself in some tricky situations. I kept thinking she was about to have it made and wham, something else goes wrong. And I couldn’t quit reading. This story draws you in and makes you care. I laughed, I got so mad I could have thrown my ereader, and I was inspired by the perseverance of a good person, even a make believe person. Great read.

This is such a fun, action-filled story with interesting characters. Sylvie Orion, a bounty hunter witch with very limited magic, is in the fight of her life to get back her stolen soul. I really like Sylvie and how she cleverly makes up for her weak magic as she battles stronger paranormal creatures. Another terrific story in the Bad Magic Bounty Hunter series. Can't wait to see what happens next!!

My review for the 2nd, is the same as book 1.

I really liked it! The pace was good, the characters were well developed, and the world building was on point (which was surprising for such a short book).

Only complaints are the book lengths (book 1&2 definitely could’ve just been one book) and there were a few typos. Also, I kind of want another book. All questions were answered, nothing was left in question. I just want to know more.

Sylvie is witty and unpredictably funny. Witch turned bounty hunter whose Werewolf bounty jumps bond. This leads to a series of events including meeting a handsome vampire, being held prisoner, being hunted and people possibly wanting to kill her. Has a cliff hanger ending but all the best series do!

Motherducking Witches

Sylvie is hiding out with the shifters on Packlands because they are protecting her from the witches high priestess who wants her dead. As a so so witch she finds herself getting more than she bargained for. This book has witches, shifters and fae who all want power to rule over other paranormals.A fun and easy read. I truly enjoyed this book.

3 books

The 5 stars are for all 3 books in this series so far. I was ecstatic to read that, yes, there will be a fourth book and maybe more? The sad part is that I do not know when. So while I wait, if you are for some reason reading this review without having read books one or two, do! Pick them up, download them, whatever works for you because they are terrific!!

Smart and Engaging!

Okay, so, I was desperate for a new series, and came across these. I expected that based on the titles, the books would be too cute to live. Boy, was I wrong. This series is fun, smart, and had me engrossed from the first pages. Love Sylvie, and adore Blart. Hope this series goes on for a while!

A sequel better than the original

Sylvie, Vitor and the rest are back. This was even better than book one. And so many more laughs, edge of my seat suspense, twists, turns and surprises. I was both flustered and unsurprised there's to be more books. This isn't a story that would fit in a duology

At the end of book one the author said there would be one more. Well, her characters did not cooperate!
So it’s a settled for now ending.

Witch Shifter?

This book, in my opinion, was odd. Don't get me wrong, it was just different. Unlike any story I have read before. Sylvie is a disaster. Everything she does seems to not work out right. The battle and the ending are unexpected.

I liked the book. Very cute! I was hoping there would be a little romance there but just when I thought it might happen the book ended. I hope to see more of this series to help end the series… there seems to be so much left to do.
