I wanted to read all 4 books before leaving a review. And so for the week that is what I did. Negatives: -some serious grammatical errors, don’t let it deter you though. If I thought it was too much, there wouldn’t be 5 stars. -a lot of violence. Descriptive and well read. I hate saying it, but it felt real. Which is actually a huge compliment from me. -triggers: along with the violence, there is some serious sensitive subjects. And honestly, I felt it was handled in a really respectable way. You may disagree, but as a survivor myself, I didn’t feel as though it was done distastefully. There isn’t a LOT of description, but it was written where you know exactly what happened.
PROS!!! Jim! He’s my kinda person! Annoying as hell but adorable and loveable. Cam-my husband is like him, I’d like to throttle him. Nick-my hero! Jack-protective and loves strongly! Ed- I wish I could wrap him up and spoil him rotten! Angie-strong Jessie- liked her enough, but honest to goodness I wanted to slap her whining ass! Jean!! I want to be her when I grow up!
I enjoyed the story and characters; some things were beyond my acceptance, such as the main characters' relationship, but I got used to it. What made me crazy were all of the errors (it's "paid," not payed). Not only that, there were at least two instances of the author using the wrong name (once she wrote cara when she meant either lily or lane) and once she wrote Sasha when she meant Natasha. If the author doesn't care to keep the characters straight, why should we?
I read all four books and found them enjoyable. The characters are hard not to love while they deal with the end of the world. Cam is the leader and keeps his group safe by giving them survival skills. Jim is a cop who’s sense of humor had me laughing. Ed felt the father figure doing his best to help the group stay alive. This is not the manual of how to stay alive during a zombie attack but rather how a group of survivors become a family during trying times. It made me want the story to continue.
I was a little worried in the beginning with the threesome relationship but by book 2 I decided I really enjoyed all 3 of them together. It kept me on the edge of my seat with the drama. It was nice to find a book that went from beginning to end on the whole zombie thing. I have to say the reason I took one star off is bc it seemed to be wrapped up in a neat little bow with the ending ! I kinda wish they hadn’t found a vaccine and the author could have done some spin offs into this world bc I really enjoyed that part of the series
Lynn Masters has done something that is hard to do. She gave a n ending of the series, but left it side open. I can't wait to re-read the series from the beginning. ps. There is some good soft porn.
