Lighthearted read for a rainy afternoon. Some good reminders about choosing our battles and cherishing what is important in life, like friendship, personal wellbeing and happiness in contentment.
So I read this book when I was kinda sad and it made me happy with its reminders. This book is for all ages if they need a little bit of happiness or a reminder of how to find it. It does include quite a bit of Peanuts references, so if you aren't familiar with the comics then I suggest reading some before taking a look at this book. This is my second time reading it, and it still makes me happy. :)
I’d read a much longer book that explores the real philosophy and thinking behind Snoopy and the rest of the Peanuts crew but this felt like a skim across a very shallow pool. Relatable and readable but lacking the profundity the subject really has to offer.
My daughters bought me Be More Snoopy. They know I love Snoopy and the whole Peanuts gang. This book is so cute and colorful. Very fun to read. Each page has cute pictures and uplifting phrases.
Enter Charlie Brown’s pet beagle - Snoopy! Snoopy balances Charlie Brown’s melancholy with levity in this book. One pearl of wisdom I took away is to find joy in the simplest things in life. Just take a look at Snoopy’s alter egos, how can one be bored with life?
Apparently when I read this little book back in August of 2021 I loved it. Sadly, this time not so much. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE any and all things Snoopy. This little book just didn't do it for me. The illustrations are wonderful of course, but instead of a lighthearted book, it comes across as awfully deep. While this book is good for all ages, the descriptions read a little like a self-help book. I suppose that's kind of what it is, but that's what disappointed me. The "suggestions" are a little too deep. I think I would have liked it more had the description been more simplistic and better suited for the picture. Instead we have the picture on the left side of the pages but on the right side of the pages, there are rather detailed descriptions. So all in all, I do recommend this book. Snoopy and Peanuts fanatics will probably love it. I just wish it was a little more light-hearted.
