In the suburb of Saxon Heights, Baron Saxon runs everything: her business, her family, and the town. Despite her hot temper and her unorthodox ways, Baron has been a saving grace to the Transgender community for almost two decades. Along with her long-time love interest, Donna, and her brothers Declan and Cyprian, she is in for an all-out battle. When the new Chief of Police and a traitor in her own home threaten to unravel both her empire and her relationship, can Baron and Donna keep their world from being destroyed, all while facing the flaws in their relationship?
Bear The Cost focused on a trans community and the Saxon family. It's a gripping, emotional story of change, hope, despair, support and true in-depth love. A tale about Donna and all the others who are trans in a transphobic society. I’m really touched by this exceptional story and I can highly recommend it.
This community, the LGBTQ+ community needs more stories like this one. Stories centered around transgendered individuals and their everyday lives. Their lives before transition, their lives during and their lives in the aftermath of fully transitioning. Now, I am no expert when it comes to the T part of the rainbow alphabet, I probably understand non-binary better than transgender people, but I do know that they all have a story and those stories are never pretty, unfortunately.
Bailey told us a story, several actually, about human beings who just want a place of their own, one little spot in this giant world to call their own without hassle. Bailey vividly and brilliantly painted us a picture of the negative that comes with being transgendered, but she also showed us the positive and the beauty of finding your own family who accept you for you. She expertly bobbed and weaved back and forth between a timeline that took us back to the beginnings of a family born out of neglect and hate that quickly turned into a family of love and acceptance, then jumped into the future where that family had grown, literally and figuratively, into a "Bear" of a group that loved and protected ferociously. 'Bear the Cost' was a peek into a world that is probably the most misunderstood and most hated and feared by outsiders. Bailey drew back the veil and wrote us a raw, rough, and sometimes cringe-worthy tale where she basically rubbed our noses in the sh*t that trans people have to endure throughout their lives. She also reminded us that there are heroes out there who will always defend the less defensive, and Baron 'Bear' Saxon was one of them.
I thoroughly enjoyed this story, and given a few editing mistakes, I highly recommend anyone to give this amazing book a read.
This book is so well written, just like this author's other books. I can really tell this author put in a lot of "leg" work to do research about the trans community. I did not know all that happened within in that community. This book really opened my eyes. Bear and Donna are the best. This book goes to show no matter what you are dealt in life if you keep working for it you will be just fine. I want to find my Bear in this world! We all have had bad things happen to us that have caused us baggage but the love story in this book goes to show if you keep going after what you want there is no boundaries! I cannot wait to hear more about this story.
I still do not understand Bear's reason for the "claiming" action, why it began? I would like to know more about Bear, she ran things, has a temper. But what are her deeper feelings.
This book was fantastic! I loved the characters, the story lines, and the intrigue. Donna and Baron went through sooo much, and their story is so intense. I hope there will be a sequel!
