In a world where witches hate the Fae, Gabriella has just broken the borders between the races wide open...
Gabriella is a bad witch. Well, she's not evil, she just sucks at magic, and when she turns eighteen, the unthinkable happens: she grows a pair of wings.
Human born Fae are nothing new. An oddity to be sure, but witch born Fae?
They're a whole other ball of wax.
When she's summoned to the Eight Wings Academy at twenty-five, the doo-dah hits the fan as harsh truths are revealed to her about the Fae. But no matter how hard Gabriella tries to flunk, to escape a society forged on lies, she can't do it.
And it isn't because she's a brilliant student, either.
She sucks. Hard.
Something, or someone, is making sure she passes, keeping her at the Academy against her will, ensuring she heads straight into the warrior caste and into a troupe with three other Fae.
Except her troupe?
They just happen to be her Virgo—her fated mates.
And where Virgo are concerned, they have the final say on whether she claims them or not.
She's FAELING FOR THEM, but can she convince them she's a good catch? When she knows, point blank, she isn't...?

This is the complete Eight Wings Collection.

I tried, but I just couldn't get through this story. The gender dynamics of this fated bond were so problematic, and I wasn't a fan of the relationships or characters in general. I was excited to see a latina FMC, but this one just fell short for me.

I enjoyed this serial compiled in one book. No HFN. A real HEA... with a twist.

Overall, It was mostly the girl POV but here and there it was the guys. And it helped to know them better.

I couldn’t give a full 5 stars though.

1/ 600+ pages and none of them exchanged a sweet ILY. It was lust here and there, yes I understood they loved each other but it was never developed. So no real romance. I missed their POV at times.

2/ few inconsistencies. Nothing major but made me wonder and reread some parts to understand the chronology or why the plot was rushed. the plot was nicely flowing and sometimes just rushed.

But I never stopped reading because it kept me wondering how the story would end.

It is what is called a Reverse Harem. Explicit sex scenes. YA 18+ I would say. But now 16+ know way more about sex than my generation so... :P

It was an interesting new world of faes and witches. I recommend this read.

A trio of books following Gabriella -riel (FMC) a human born fae and how her life changes when shes enrolled at Eight Wing Academy especially when she has no interest being there. Coping with being a witch, stuck up fae and having Virgo mates - Matthew, Daniel and Joseph. Shes also right in the middle of witches who want their freedom and fae who want to use them. Its an action-packed & fast-paced brilliant read. I loved every minute reading it

Great story!

A fast fun story that I didn’t want to end. The MC is down to earth and so real and her Virgo....sexy and hot and enough to make you jealous! I just love Serena Akeroyd!

The Ascended

A boxed set of three books in this trilogy set. Not your typical fae story at all pretty unique. Enjoyed it.

DNF @82%. I’m not against fated mates and the premise of this was okay. However, it was just kind of....blah. Took awhile for it to be explained how half breeds are made and you’re made to think they’re rare but later you find out they’re not. So I’m here going “why’s her mom mad at her for being half fae half witch” because naturally I thought they were made by ya know....sex. So I’m like well MSN’s did you screw a fae or not??? Turns out not because that’s not how the halfies are made 🙄.

Honestly it just wasn’t organized well at all and more boring than exciting.

Ok Series

I’ve read the first two before and reviewed them as 4 stars. Overall I’d rate this series as a 3 star. For some reason, the plot, the characters, just didn’t grab me like I was sitting at the edge of my seat with that powerful feeling of “Needing” to know more. “Needing” to know what was going to happen next and the need to further integrate my psyche as one of the main characters I was reading. There was a disconnect from the characters to what was going on. Missing pieces to what makes a scene feel like everything is flowing properly. Example, she’s flying at a crazy speed fully clothed and the next thing they are screwing in the sky with no mention of clothes being undressed or removed. Just mentions of magic that the reader has to decipher means clothes being removed.
I found each book, the female lead character changes drastically. The first, she’s all pissed off and refuses to do anything to move forward. 2nd book, she realizes the guys are her Virgo Mates, and starts to figure out what to do with them. The guys also change into the perfect mates in this 2nd book. They can’t be away from her nor can they stop fighting each other. 3rd book, I found all the laziness of the plot being mentioned in the first and second book come exploding out in the 3rd book which takes about 15-20% of the 3rd, it then moves quickly onto the Quest, before they all show up at the assembly saying “Sorry, not sorry, what’s done is done”. The whole revealing thing about what they were actually supposed to do was confusing as all hell. There was just So much info being put out and it was hard to follow along to make the connections to what was expected and what needed to be done. At this point I just wanted the book to be done. I loved reading some of Serena’s other series, so reading this and finding so many missing pieces that would normally make a story flow naturally, was disappointing.
What I loved, I loved how this book included a Latina heritage, it’s not often super often I get to read a proud Latina, who isn’t afraid to sass people, order them around and takes charge of situations. I loved reading about her getting to know her new found family connections. I could read how lonely she really was in the first book, and it was so nice to read her getting the family they needed, ones that accepted her and didnt think she was crazy or powerless. The guys were perfect for her. I’m glad none of them held out on creating the bond with her. Normal prn rh stories there’s usually a cautious one which hurts the female lead character and stunts the progress of the plot. I loved reading about her unexpected instincts. How it’s saved so many ppl even though ppl in power don’t see it that way.

The book was originally 3 separate novels. The first one did not have a complete storyline. The second one had to summarize what happened in the first. Since it was combined into one, it really took me out of the story. I was so bored with the author narrating things that had already been established and eventually gave up. It would make sense if you had to wait a year to read the second book. However, there wasn't enough content to justify splitting it up.

The premise was ok, but the details didn't add up to a good story. She was a fashion designer but at one point she described her outfit and how it didn't work for her body. Was it a school uniform? I'd have liked to see her make it her own and then one of the guys could have appreciated her style in their pov.

I had a difficult time telling the 3 guys apart. None of them had much of a personality, except Daniel was shown as a suck up in class. But when reading their pov I had to keep flipping back to see who was talking.

The family dynamic was interesting in that her mom didn't try to teach her anything because she was a magical dud. Her brothers and mom ignored her because they found out she was secretly fae. So she was isolated and floundering in her new position at school, trying to learn fae stuff and hide her magic. Then her mom found out she manifested, meaning she has a lot of power. So then she tried to make contact and was ignored. There was potential for some character development here, however, it didn't go anywhere in the half I read. Maybe it could become relevant later?

All of the witches hated fae, and the only complaint was that they were arrogant and enforced the "rules" whatever those are. Then she learned in class that the fae mine the magic from the witches. Then later she finds out the witch conclave agreed to do this to protect the witches with too much power, I think. And the grandfather told her about some secret group that fights against everything the fae do. Everything is a secret because the conclave somehow gets power from the arrangement with the fae and they don't want everyone to know the witches have so much power. It was all just thrown at you. Maybe it could develop into something interesting, BUT the guys just kept saying how the fated mate bond was just so overwhelming but they were all in with their woman and they will do what they need to do to protect her. Pages and pages of fluff and travel and begging a witch to help find her. The witch didn't tell them anything beyond what the grandfather told the girl. Then she just up and called them to tell where she was at. Too boring to continue.

I hadn’t ever read any of the Eight Wings books before this, so I am one of the lucky readers who got to read the series straight through without having to wait. I was in need of a fantasy break with all the “Shelter At Home” chaos, so I was also one of the lucky ones that literally dedicated a day to reading this ginormous book. That said, it was definitely worth the time spent reading.

Riel is a witch-born fae, which makes her an outcast in both societies. However she was also raised as a human so she could stay under the radar, which makes her extra special weird. She’s forced to attend the Eight Wings Academy so she can learn to hone her powers, and there she meets Joseph (Seph), Matthew and Daniel. These three will eventually become not only her allies in combat, but her partners. Obviously steamy stuff ensues, along with a whole lot of world-building and lore. I’m not one for all that, so I did end up skipping bits and pieces in the third “book” of the series just so I could get to the plot points. However, I know some of you lovelies really like that sort of thing. I say to you: knock yourself out.

Definitely a great “break” read. Serena Akeroyd is an amazing writer, and that shines through in this piece just like all of her other work. I’d read his again and let’s face it: I probably will.

This trilogy is a very interesting read.

The first book starts slowly. There is very little action but as the series grows so does the 'action' and I mean that in every sense of the word.

I really enjoyed the way she gets her Virgo men. I like the way her magic builds. I like how this series deals with inadequacies in society and aims to fix them.

This trilogy has a HEA but each part is left on a cliffhanger so you just have to keep going!

There are some raunchy parts but it's RH after all. But there are also some funny scenes.

I love the way that the two generations whilst named after each other get distinct names Gabrielle/Riel so you know which one is which! So Helpful.

Anyone who has had a family ever understands how difficult they can be sometimes and I love that this is part of the story. Families are messy. Four families coming together... Crazy.

All in all a great magical read with a kick ass witchy woman, 3 sexy fae men, some crazy families and some insane locations. It was a good read that I struggled to put down.

I think if more happened in the first part I'd have given this 5 stars. Still a great read.

This book brings together the trilogy of the Faeling books. It again makes it convenient to be able to read all of the books in one easy collection.

This is series of focuses on Gabriella as she discovers that she's different from the world that she thought she was a part of. She is pulled into a world that she never wanted and put with those that are the only ones who can protect her. As her men try to determine how to immerse her in this world, she uncovers more secrets about herself and her men that could bring a downfall to everything. Only she and her men can stop it and the ride to ending it is not an easy one.

This series was probably not one of my favorite from Serena Akeroyd, but it was good nonetheless. It did take some different terms than I expected and was action-packed, but not quite what I expected. If you're interested in a good reverse harem that isn't afraid to shy away from an interesting subject then this is the series for you, and this book combination makes it perfect for you.

Faeling for Them
I could not connect with either of the main characters, although the plot intrigued me. Character development was mostly due to a version of fated mates and I was not a fan of this version, but I hope it will get better once we find out more about the bond between the witch and its Virgo.

Faeling Hard
The second book was better but I am not sure it really merited 4 stars. I felt as if the story was made complicated on purpose, it did not feel natural.

Finally Faeling
I was soooo disappointed in the finale. The whole book was sort of a treasure hunt with no relationship development. Fated mates trope was unbelievably strong and relationships felt very stagnant with only physical evolution because of the plot. FMC was totally out of character, almost another person and I could not relate at all. Writing was good but I felt let down. A nice idea and solid begining of the series went only downhill afterwards and was too close to 2 stars for my liking.

I tried

I tried, valiantly but I just could not finish the book. I made it more than half way before I finally skipped to the end. I stopped at 90% and saw that there was absolutely no way the book could end in the last 10% so I skipped all the way to the end. And I’m honestly glad I did. What I read at 90% (the breaking of the stone) should have occurred much much earlier. That way the visits weren’t glazed over. The first 50% was full of filler. Which tells me that in order to visit all four houses and call the elements then take back the magic being written in the last 10% of the book were mishandled as well. And last but not least that ridiculous prologue. Is it too much to ask for a happy ending? I hate my job and my life but I like my Virgo is not a happy ending. And I hate kids but surprise you are 18 weeks pregnant is not a happy ending. I’m seriously starting to doubt this author.

Disappointed, this book is a mess. The whole part one is just reiterating the same background info and does not progress the storyline just read the first chapter and skip to part 2 you won't miss a thing because nothing happens.

This is terribly slow burn and on top of that, rather than developing the relationship between the MCs they make the bond just click halfway through the book and now suddenly the dislike and lack of relationship of any.kind has switch to infatuated puppy love out of their control. Not only that the book has their personalities just switch because of this new bond and rather than just showing this shift the author constantly points out how aware the characters are that they aren't acting the same and being annoyed they are acting differently.

Instead of showing you the story tells you what will happen and then when it happens the story again re-explains that it is happening.

Also they Nickname the main like 75% of the book in and then the author only refers to her by the nickname the rest of the book.

Gabriella, Riel as she becomes known, is a witch born fae who can't control her magic. She tries to fail every test she's put through in the Academy, but somehow she still advances with flying colors, pun intended.
She's chosen to be in a troupe with Matthew, Stephen and Daniel, three cocky and strong fae. What they don't know is that they're her Virgo, her fated mates. And there begins their journey in trying to balance the powers of the witches and the Fae. They travel the world, find new and old family members, gain new powers, are betrayed and discover a love like no other.
Serena is always putting us through an emotional roller coaster but giving us a light hearted love. This is a great series to read and if you're as addicted as me, you will find yourself devouring all of it.

Serena repackaged and recovered a great series of hers "Eight Wings Academy"

Let me start this off by saying I am not a big Fae person but I gave this series a try without thinking about that and I am really glad I did. The FMC is a Latina and that was the biggest selling point for me. I love when FMC are different than the stock we typically see in novels.

The FMC "Riel" and the men of this series are such a refreshing surprise and there are some twists and turns. Riel's abuela definitely had some big secrets!

Serena wrapped up this series beautifully and I was happy with how we ended.

The Ascended was previously published in a trilogy. It’s told from multiple viewpoints.
Gabriella is a witch born fae, who despite hiding her wings for 7 years, is sent off to Eight Wings Academy. There she meets Seph, Daniel and Matthew and finds their fates are tied together.
A series about fate and magic, family and secrets and all that ties that bind them together. And man, there are scenes that will threaten to set your kindle on fire. Love the world building that went into this, and despite its length, the book reads pretty fast. Serena has made another engaging paranormal series that draws you in.

I absolutely loved this story by Serena Akeroyd. Eight Wings Academy is not your typical academy. Gabriella is a 25 year old human born Fae witch who is terrible at magic. Matthew, Daniel and Seph are Fae who want to be at the academy to become a strong warrior troupe. Gabriella doesn't want to be there at all. As hard as she tries to fail her testing, Gabriella passes with supremely high marks and they choose her for their troupe only to find out they are her Virgo, or fated Mates. Join them on their journey as they learn how to become a tighter knit troupe and save the witches, Fae and humanity.

The Eight Wings Academy books all in one!

Gabriella's really not into this whole academy thing, she would prefer to fail out and leave. But fate has something else in mind for her. She discovers her Virgo, her men, and some very interesting things about her place in the universe.

Having read a lot of PNR books I was expecting a completly bad@ss heroine. Gabriella is much more "normal". She has a loving heart, but fighting is not her forte, and she owns that.

This is a great story that you can now read all at once!

This is the box set for one of my favorite academies, Eight Wings Academy. This series is so epic with a FMC that's a bit of a misfit, and her brave, fiesty, sassy self starts a bit rough, but becomes such a force to be reckoned with. Her 3 sexy lovers begin with a bit of a bully vibe, but become absolutely everything. The plot is rich and full of action, twists, and turns. The steamy scenes are completely delicious. This series will reel you in and keep you in the hook until the very end!

Whitty and full of spunk, The Ascended had me at baited breath nearly the entire story. So many twists and turns make this an awesome read if you're ready for a book you *can't* predict the ending of in the first 10 pages.
P.S. The Ascended has a crap-ton of those, by the by.... Pages that is. Be prepared for a deep dive into a world of Serena Akeroyd's creation that could take a week or more to read - dependent on your free time. Badge toting member of the "I love big books" club here. Lol

Just meh, how this bond was explained just doesn’t make any sense. Nothing.

Ruim viu? A relação entre os Virgos)?))??? Inexistente, tudo muito ruim kkkkkkkkk

DNF @10% this reads like the author is just giving you a run down of a story. I was so bored! The characters are flat. The world building is non existent. The MFC is all internal dialogue and no plot. She says she’s a “fiery Latina” but you don’t see that. You just listen to her talk/think about her frustration and irritation with things. If you need help falling asleep this is a good one for that. It honestly reads like a textbook.

I am in love with story. I instantly fell in love with Gabriella she is a sassy hilarious take no nonsense that grows into herself. The guys all have there own strengths.. There was lots of angst, drama, villains. The story flowed so good. I could not get enough. I flew through this book and completely enjoyed every minute. I totally recommend this story.

Woo hoo! Let's give a standing ovation for an academy book that is for actual adults and not whiny teenagers! Woot Woot!
Oh, it also has a witch/human who is also part fae too.
There are lots of swords. Lots of fae wings. Lots of witches. Lots of magic.
My favourite bit is actually the last chapter as it ties everything into a nice bow to end it all ...or doesit?!?!

I read the whole series before and did a reread for the omnibus book. I really like Riel and her guys. It's awesome to see how they start getting to know each other and how Riel starts to fit in in the Fae world. It's full of action and love and fun. I laughed and cried and screamed because of this book!

Wow what a world

PNR /RH romance is on of favorite tropes in the romance world. Serena truly out did my original thoughts regarding this book. This was a re-read for me and I fell in love with Riel and her Virgo all over again. The things they go through and the passion is just amazing.

Slow and steady

This collection is great to binge on, specially if you’re a quick reader. While the story is definitely captivating, I felt it drag at a few areas where I skimmed through. I was still able to keep up with the story and didn’t feel like I missed anything of importance. Good read with a snarky and sassy FMC through and through until the very end.
