A murdered doctor. An angry ex-wife. A defense attorney must uncover the truth...
Defense Attorney Kevin Auguste has devoted his life to the pursuit of justice. An immigrant from Haiti, he has seen first hand the corrupting influence of money and power. Now he fights to be a force for good in his community, and to ensure his children grow up in a better world than the one he left behind.
But when late night police sirens disturb his sleepy neighborhood, Kevin is shocked to discover that his neighbor and client, Dr. Delroy Davidson, has been murdered. And Delroy's ex-wife has come to town demanding her share of the inheritance...
When a reading of Delroy's will reveals that another woman will receive half his wealth, Kevin finds himself drawn into a deadly dispute that threatens both him and his family. Torn between protecting his loved ones and revealing the truth, Kevin must outwit mafia thugs, scheming widows, and vindictive families.
But can Delroy's killer be forced out of hiding, before he becomes the next victim...
Sorry to say I have some criticism of this book. First of all, I don’t believe it had a proofreader as there were many, many errors grammatically! It was shocking! My conclusion is that the author is not a native English speaker, it seems. The flow of the descriptions and dialogue was just wrong for me, sorry. Also, as a Christian, I believe that the Lord does a much better job of sparing us from such extremes of violence, hate and evil people! At least that’s been my experience in my walk with the Lord. For me, the characters came across as too trusting and naive because God is able to give us much better discernment of people’s motives and personalities if we ask Him!
This was my first time reading a book by this author and I must say he is definitely going on my author list. I was able to connect with the authors and truly enjoy this page turner. This book had several twist and just when you know who killed Dr. Davidson there was another twist to the plot.
I gave the book 4star rating because there were several typos and sometimes the character reference wasn’t correct. It’s not enough to stop someone from reading this book but it mattered to me.
I am looking forward to reading more books by this author.
The suspense captured my attention but I hated how the story kept jumping to the lives of the other characters without any type of hint. It was confusing & I kept having to read paragraphs over again to comprehend what just happened.
O matter whether I am reading or watching something I can usually figure out who did what and why. Not this time though I loved the twist and turns in this book, every time I thought I had Amber, Jekalyn, or Jared figured out I was teetotaler wrong. I would love to see the backstories on the Eversons, The Ellises, and Diane! I hope part 2 is coming soon...hint hint.😀
It was an interesting read and then it became way to much to keep up with Way to many secrets and once Delroy’s murder Is revealed it just got crazier only to end with a cleft hanger. I was disappointed
This book is a high-speed car chase from beginning to end. Every time you think they're gonna go right...they go left or make a u-turn. Twists and turns that I never saw coming and drama that makes your head spin. And the ending?? A cliffhanger that had me say "wait...WHAT??"
I thought the three books out were the only ones in the series. NOPE. I found out from the author that the series has EIGHT books. EIGHT. This is one series I'm reading until the end cuz everybody so far is just messy! LOL
‘Never As It Seems’ was riveting. Moreover, the energetic plot involved murder, suspense, tension, threats, questioning motives, unwelcome visits, spirituality, messy encounters, twists and turns, numerous interviews, attempted murder, and an exploration of why everything occurred as it did. The numerous characters made it difficult to track the actions; however, I created a flow chart, which helped. Overall, the thrilling storyline was fascinating, and I liked it until it ended on a cliffhanger.
The story concept was good. However, it was very disjointed and hopped all over the place. The characters were never really developed. Too many plots were being developed at once. For example, the detective investigating the murder never did any investigating. So it was frustrating as that was the main theme. Additionally Christianity felt forced here. Last, he needs a proofreader — way too many grammatical errors.
A very suspenseful book about martial unfaithfulness and the spirit of jealousy and murder and coveted. The individual character are bring deceitful with one another feelings and circumstance too benefit there objective while trying too live a righteousness lifestyle.
The description of this book sounded interesting and I was excited to read it. However, I was unable to read very far because I was confused. I couldn't follow what was going on and it was difficult to keep track of the cast of characters. I would love to see these issues resolved so I can enjoy what I believe is a wonderful story.
This book is a page turner! It's a true just one more page can't stop reading book! How it ends will leave you speechless! This book series is one of the better who done it book series that I've personally read in a while. Mr. Gomer Joseph debuted with a bang! I enjoyed book 1 on to book 2!
The title was perfect for this book. Some of the characters portray themselves to be perfect when they are exactly the opposite. The Davidson children had a lot to work through. The Auguste family's secrets will definitely do more harm than good. Not sure what Jekelyn thinks she's doing but no good can come from it.
This book for me was too lengthy with too many characters. I normally don’t like suspense but decided to read it anyway. It turned out to be a good read but still too many questions which leads to the next book. It’s a good discussion book for a book club.
This book was a pure mess! I mean it kept me guessing from beginning to the not so end! Just when I thought I had figured it out, BAM! I definitely have to read Part II!
This is a great prelude to the next book. I liked the book it’s a good Christian life story. saints are just sinners who got up. Being a Christian isn’t easy in this world and it shows the constant belief one must practice to be one.
Good Christian mystery read. First time reading this author. Will definitely read books 2 and 3. Had a few grammatical errors and had to reread sentences to understand.
This book has a great plot and I would love to be able to read it but it’s all over the place. It jumps from one set of characters to the other without an introduction.
First time reading something by this author. I was thinking the wrong person killed the doctor. I was really surprised on the killer. There are a bunch of twists and turns in this book. Amber is a hot mess with a ton of issues. Time for part 2.
No. The characters are not well developed. The plot has potential but the book was a struggle to read. The abrupt shifts and lackluster descriptions are difficult.
This book kept reader on their toes thinking one thing and reading another. This author is talented writing a very complex Family story with "never as it seems" good title good story
Interesting story but too many sub plots for my old brain. I had trouble keeping tract of everything but I stuck with it to the end and now want to know how it all ends.
Loved the way that in all the different things that was happening it always circled back to how you need God to help you survive and handle situations. This book was a nice reminder with a good story line !
I liked reading this book but there were several unbelievable things that occurred that left many loose ends. There is, however, a sequel that I am getting ready to rearm now that will hopefully answer some of the questions I had at the end of this book
This was my first time reading a book by Gomer Joseph. I truly enjoyed it. Very suspenseful and I did not expect that ending. I’m looking forward to reading part 2.
