Love. It’s something I never wanted and decided I’d never have. Love nearly killed my mother. It devastated and destroyed her. I promised myself I’d never be captured or ensnared like she was. Love deceives. It isn’t genuine. It doesn’t last. It’s just poison…a silent killer. The one taste I got nearly killed me but I was fortunate enough to escape it. But then I met him, and love didn’t just catch me. I collided with it.
Portia Moore is an Amazon and iBooks bestselling author of romantic suspense, including the popular If I Break series, the Her series, and the Collided series, which combined have sold over one million copies across all platforms. Located in the chilly Midwest, her favorite vacations are anywhere that's hot and sunny with a beach, reading the same kind of heart-pounding, twisty, edge-of-your seat romantic thrillers that she loves to write. When that's not possible, she loves drinking wine, cooking (also with wine) and spending time with her little family of one human child and two furbabies, one that barks and one that meows.
While I normally love everything Portia Moore writes - this was by far my least favorite - first off I thought this was the sequel to Her so for about 25% of the book I was trying to figure out what role the characters played in regards to the characters in HER so I was mildly annoyed and disappointed from that - then there were so many typos and name errors to start off with and finally I was so confused in the end - unless I missed something I thought they went to meet Alex’s parents so when his father was someone completely different in the end I was even more annoyed - I feel like this book was haphazardly written and not with the normal care in how Portia normally so delicately spins her stories and while I will keep reading what she writes - I hope this is not her new style

Whoa what the actual hell??? That TWIST.... I mean...... Like what????? That was my reaction after finishing this book. That ending holy moly wow!!!! Portia has done it again i really love her if i break series and this book was no different. It was truly fantastic. This book grabbed me since the beginning and i was on edge throughout. I couldn't put it down it was that captivating. Another winner by Portia. I couldn't wait for book 2 like i m literally dying i need to know what happens next!!! This is my fav book by Portia yet!! I love it. Do yourself a favor guys and grab this book. You won't regret it!!! You can thank me later 😉
This authors writing style remind me of a good old fashion soap opera with tons of drama, over the top dramatics and sorta unrealistic plot point that some how work out yet straddle the line of cringe.. that cliffhanger ended tho.
I have read many books by this author. There is one word I always use to describe them....captivating. This story captivated me in a way that truly surprised me. The main character being relatable and enthralling. It was so easy to step into her shoes. I feel like anyone could have and have had the same feelings and direction this one does. Like most people maddy has had her life moulded by things in her past and the boulders life keeps putting in her path. The situations she faces and the way she feels I know many can relate to. The family dynamics, friendships, work relationships and life experiences made me feel like I was right there. My heart soared when theirs did, my heart shattered with therm, the banter between friends made me laugh and smile. Oh and the sexy...ladies grab your wine and read this book. All around an amazing creation from an amazing author. Grab this one asap.
Ok apart from some minor errors like cooking ground beef in 1 paragraph and stirring turkey in the next. I would like to know how is it that Madison had dinner with Alex's parents and at the end is introduced to Jackson as Alex father
Ok, so I am a little confused. Did I buy an unedited version? I mean it did jump around in some places. Some sentences were hard to put together. But I feel like I missed something. I even went back and reread part of it. I like the concept, I wish I knew it was the first book cause I would have waited.
DNF - 41% Couldnt do it... I just couldn't pull through enough to finish. Life is too short to read crappy books.
This book annoyed me, the main characters were weak, I wasn't invested in either of them, the woman seemed vapid and the man seemed like a misogynist. I wouldn't recommend this series to a friend.
Here I go reading books again that I think I will hate but my brain says "But Tessa, you gotta know what happens"😐🤦♀️ Joke's on you brain, this series wasn't half bad🤣
Im just gonna write 1 review for all three books and save myself some time.
Book 1- Jackson is a pretty shitty human being. I expected to hate Madison but its hard to hate someone that was being lied to and did the right thing when she found out. I do wish that their relationship didn't have so much on page time. I did throughly enjoy watching Alex and Madison go from friends to more. 3 stars
Book 2- I disliked Madison in this book. It was weird that she still had unresolved "feelings" for Jackson. She was 100% committed to Alex but I was still side eyeing her. I didn't think it was possible but Jackson turned into even a bigger asshole. Dude was legit trying to get Madison back even though she told him 800 times that she was in love with HIS SON! Also dude is still MARRIED. I felt a lil bad for Madison with how it all blew up in her face because she really was a victim in Jackson's scheme. She should of told the truth sooner though. Im completely satisfied that Jackson blew up his life, dick had it coming.
Book 3- My like for Madison came back. Her charcter really grew in this book. She was 100% committed to Alex even though they were broke up and was willing to wait for him. She also was prepared to do what was needed to have a good co-parenting relationship with Alex. Alex's mom Kate annoyed me a little bit but it also pushed Madison to be a stronger person. I liked that Alex was 100% in when he found out about the baby and wasn't unnecessarily cruel to Madison. He also sought therapy to figure out if he could ever really forgive her before committing to her again. Jackson's life is still in shambles HAHA asshole🙄 Alex does end up forgiving him though🤦♀️ 4 stars
So all in all this series is alright it kept my interest. Book 3 was the strongest IMO. I would definitely say this is a NOT SAFE series
I probably would've given this 3 stars (just a "liked it") rating...until the very end. I'm not going to give any spoilers, don't worry!!!
I think my biggest problem with the story was how Madison was originally portrayed seems to be different than how she seems later on. Initially it seems as though she's hesitant with relationships, insecure and Ryan (who she leaves), is maybe the first (or second at best) person she's been with. Granted - it never outright says that. But based on her reaction to him and their relationship, I think that's a good conclusion the reader can come to.
Later, when she's interacting with her friends, they talk about how often she used to have one-night-stands (prior to Ryan) and was good at not attaching herself emotionally to anyone. The two just seemed very different.
However, Alex saves the day! He is amazing and the ending threw me for a loop! I am hoping book 2 is better but I'm SUPER curious how things will pan out so I'm moving on to it regardless.
I don't normally pick apart grammatical errors, but when in one paragraph, there's an Orlando, and next there's an Oliver that came out of nowhere it gets confusing. There are many inconsistencies like this throughout the book.
Everybody in this book kind of sucks, but like especially Melissa and her BF Greg. What kind of sister allows her boyfriend to call her sibling a vampiric slut and is just like, "you gotta apologize" You're gonna judge your sister for unhealthy relationships but that's the type of guy that floats your boat? Ew, pot meet kettle.
It was almost like there was too much drama in this book, and it was unnecessary. It was a good book until around the halfway mark, but the Maddison became Sideshow Bob stepping on rakes.
It also felt super judgey, and like why so many Trump references?
This was an amazing read about Madison. I felt so sorry for her, and could completely understand why she reacted the way she did to relationships. I enjoyed this story so much, the twists and turns, I had this feeling about one of her men but even though I had a hunch it was going to happen, but it still jumped out and got me good at the end. This book definitely has all the feels, angst, uncertainty, sex, love, friendship, there is a happy half ending with a bit of a cliff hanger, and that said I’ll be buying the next book haha it was brilliant! Give me more Jackson, Alex, & Melissa. The characters all slot in seamlessly and make for a great read.
I started this book thinking it was the exact same story line as another of Portia's books with the rich man sweeping the girl away etc I stayed with it and glad I did. It changed and the story line was Brilliant! Hooked and am deff reading the whole series. If you can get passed the confusing errors such as name swaps and inconsistencies its a must read.
OMG ,I need to get the second book asap,if it's anything like this one I'll be a happy camper, loved it all the way . what a cliff hanger beautifully written and leaves you wanting more.hats off to you Portia Moore I finally found a new writer that excites me and keeps me wanting more.
Took me awhile but I finished it... what was that ending?! I really wasnt invested enough to continue the series but now I might. Honestly though I cannot stand Melissa's character she's a shitty sister.
Well that was something...and not in a good way. **spoiler*** family reunions are gonna be kind of awkward...hey honey here's grandpa that mommy slept with...yeah....right. The author can write though and I am not giving up..
Hated it. Fully expected Madison to get sex trafficked in first 50% it was giving true crime vibes. It was also VERY predictable. I’m only reviewing this to tell people not to waste their time.
