A delightful new Elements board book that teaches baby, age 0-3, all about the ABCs and the elements of the periodic table at the same time. With baby-friendly text and big, bright colorful photographs! ABC ELEMENTS features 26 elements that represent each of the letters of the alphabet-A for Aluminum, B for Bismuth, C for Copper etc. Each letter of the alphabet will be illustrated with a big, beautiful photograph of the element from Theodore Gray's famous photographic element collection.
Theodore Gray is the author of 'The Elements' and 'Mad Science: Experiments You Can Do at Home-But Probably Shouldn't', and of Popular Science magazine's 'Gray Matter' column. He is the proprietor of periodictable.com and the creator of the iconic photographic periodic table poster seen in universities, schools, museums, and on TV shows from 'MythBusters' to 'Hannah Montana'. In his other life, he is co-founder of the software company Wolfram Research, creators of the world's leading technical software system, Mathematica®, and WolframlAlphaTM. He lives in Champaign-Urbana, Illinois.
I love this book, and my daughter loves it, especially the photos. My only complaint is that I'm not sure about the design choice of dedicating a whole page to say "Jump over 'J'" or "Quick! Go past 'Q'" rather than making those parts smaller and devoting more book space to bigger photos of the elements, vs having smaller photos of several elements sharing a page. Aside from that, it's a fantastic book for young learners! I highly recommend it.
As a chemistry professor, I just had to buy this while I was perusing Theodore Gray's website, especially since there was a sale on the autographed copies! I have samples of of nine of the twenty-three elements listed to give to my son when he's older.
Unlike _My First Elements_, which provides some information about each element, this one just presents a different element for each letter of the alphabet.
