Another perfect story. Delilah is found in the woods by Josh. He feels something is wrong and tries to find out what it is. I couldn’t stop reading until I found out what happened. Don’t miss out when it’s released.

Beyond Power by Connie Mann is the second book in the Florida Wildlife Warriors series. Having read the first book in this series I was thrilled to get my hands on this book so I could continue getting to know the characters and this part of Florida.

The plot was quickly paced with explosive action, murder, attempted murder, survivalists, underground militia as well as friendships, family ties, and romance. I enjoyed every page with all of the twists and heartaches as secrets are revealed. Ms. Mann's descriptive writing made the Florida wilderness come to life and her characters develop into individuals that you want to know and help them reach their goals.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book from Sourcebooks Casablanca via NetGalley. All of the above opinions are my own.

3.5 stars- BEYOND POWER is the second full-length instalment in Connie Mann’s contemporary adult FLORIDA WILDLIFE WARRIORS romantic suspense series. This is Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officer Josh Tanner, and Masters wildlife researcher Delilah Atwood’s story line. BEYOND POWER can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous instalment is revealed where necessary.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Josh and Delilah) BEYOND POWER follows Delilah Atwood in her search for her younger sister Mary. Growing up as part of fundamental militant survivalist family Delilah knows only too well that her sister’s future is out of her control. Under the guise of studying a family of monkeys in Ocala, Florida, Delilah hides in plain sight in an effort to uncover the whereabouts of her mother and sister but Delilah never expected to face off against Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation officer Josh Tanner when a man is found murdered, with possible connections to the militant organization of which Delilah was once connected. As Delilah struggles to locate her sister, our heroine will find herself targeted in a game of cat and mouse. What ensues is the slow building romance and relationship between Delilah and Josh, and the potential fall-out when Delilah’s life hangs in the balance, and her time in Ocala, Florida comes to a close.

Delilah Atwood is a strong and independent woman determined to rescue her sister, with or without the help of local law enforcement. Placing herself in danger on more than one occasion, Delilah has a little bit of TSTL (Too stupid to live) mentality, often disregarding orders from the people in charge.

There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including Hunter and Charlee (Beyond Risk #1), fellow officers Pete Tanner, Marco Sanchez, Lisa Bass aka Fish, IT specialist Byte, counselor Kimberly Gaines; Delilah’s father John Henry, her brother Aaron, her mother and sister Mary; as well as militia member Nate

BEYOND POWER is a story of a dysfunctional family whose militant ideals are threatened by outsiders, and the power of the local law enforcement community. In an effort to merge for a stronger organization, the local fundamental militia has made a deal, a deal that will directly affect Mary and our story line heroine. As Delilah continues to work on her studies, she uses the research as a means to track her ‘at risk’ sibling. The premise is intriguing and entertaining; the romance is passionate; the $ex scenes implied; the characters are stubborn, strong, colorful and energetic.

From beginning to end, Beyond Power held me in its power. Mann has created an intense, suspenseful, and emotional page-turner filled with so many twists and turns I was still guessing as to how everything would play out with only a few pages left to read. Her characters are so vividly depicted they leap from the pages, pulling me into their world. And let's talk about that world. It's clearly evident Mann knows the wildlife areas of Central Florida well. She created a sense of place that placed me smack dab in the middle of the overgrowth, rivers, forests, and wild animals that populate the undeveloped areas of this region then added characters who brought a sinister quality to the areas that our heroine once called home, adding to the intensity of the story and sense of urgency that continued to escalate.

My heart was with Delilah from the start and even more-so once her story began to unfold and the reasons for her return became clear. It's an emotional journey for her with significant personal issues to tackle. I admired her strength and fortitude. Josh won my heart right along with Delilah's. I adored his strength of character and nurturing heart. I also fell for his family and band of friends and co-workers. I'm already looking forward to more stories for this dedicated group.

I love when I forget I'm reading a book and slide into the story instead. By the time I turned the final page of Beyond Power, it took me a minute to come back into myself. I could feel the sultry heat, touch the vegetation, hear the monkey chatter, smell the sweat of fear. It's a skilled writer who can pull me so deeply into their world that I forget I'm still in my own.

If you enjoy intricately-woven romantic suspense with relatable characters, atmospheric settings, and hard-won happy endings, I highly recommend Beyond Power.

3.5 hearts

I got started on this  Florida Wildlife Warrior series because of a free anthology of novellas, Turn the Tide.  It's an interesting setting with a heartwarming group of family and friends. The stories have plenty of mystery, suspense and some romance.

Beyond Power is the story of Josh who has recently come out of a relationship and Delilah who has returned to town after 8 years as a graduate student. Delilah, also wants to find her family who is part of a cult group, to protect her sister, Mary.  While I enjoyed the action, I did think both of them acted just a bit TSTL at times.  They didn't seem to take any precautions, much less necessary ones when someone is trying to kill or abduct you.  In an area where cell phones don't work in a lot of areas, one would think they would have some other communication methods also.

In this same vein, it didn't seem like the law enforcement was very organized or professional at times.  Of course, some of this was Josh not sharing all the information because of his personal connection with Delilah.  It made the story much more dramatic but I had to suspend disbelief sometimes.

Both Josh and Delilah are good people, whose hearts are in the right place. They each had personal issues which made them cautious about having a relationship even though they were attracted to each other from the beginning.

It was great to see the whole Tanner family and all the Florida Wildlife crew and sheriff's office deputies. It wouldn't be a story without Charlee's cupcakes.

This was a fun, tension filled romance that kept me turning the pages. It helped that I liked Delilah and Josh from the start. They are both complex, yet relatable and I couldn’t wait for them to give in to the romance. The suspense part of the story kept me on edge wondering where the next incident would come from. Some of the situations may seem a bit farfetched in this day and age, but since it isn’t in my realm of experience, I went along for the ride and let it flow. Fast paced, action filled, and sweet romance….a nice combination. I can’t wait for book 3!

A real page turner indeed.
A hot, protective and invested detective, a stubborn but strong and lovely heroine, add some wild animals and the rescue mission full of suspense and dangerous situation, and you've got the perfect recipe for a romantic suspense and a wildlife plot that i haven't had the chance to read much.
Apart from the great writing that kept me invested at all times, the emotions and feelings where felt on the page with each interaction and mindful monologue. Real chemistry? Maybe not so much but that hasn't deter me to really enjoy this well deserved happily ever after that my romantic heart needs so much every now and then.

Beyond Power is the second in the Florida Wildlife Warriors series but can be read standalone. I loved that this book took me places I’ve never been before. I knew about the rhesus macaques in Florida and I loved learning more about them and that they were an integral part of this story. This was a charming romance that left me with a smile.

More like a 3.5. I really enjoyed it until the end. The ending seemed super unrealistic to me. Endings are always hard to perfect, but this one brought it down from being a 4 star for me.
I also have never read this author before & I thought that it would be spicier. The intimate scenes did not have much description which surprised me for this type of book.
Lots of action though, which was the best part. Pretty good, unique story.

Delilah Attwood is determined to rescue her sister, and no one, not even hot cop, Josh Tanner, is going to get in her way.

This book has not only romance and suspense, but draws you into the Ocala National Forest and a rarely seen look at the local monkey population.

Kudos to another great book in this series. Looking forward to more!

~~I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads ~~

This is the second book in the series, and whilst it involves a new pairing, it does follow on from the previous story, so there is familiarity with the team and the environment.

I found this to be a really powerful story, with a strong engaging plot, centring around the folk who live off the grid, but also a nomadic, militia grounded life. Delilah was brought up that way, but managed to escape just before she turned 16 and became the marital property of another. She is now back to save her little sister from that fate now that she too approaches that age. But her cover, and her interest, is research into one of the troupes of monkeys which live in the area. Studying for her Masters gives her good reason to be in the area and to find where her family are currently camped out.

Josh is local law enforcement, and when Delilah finds a dead body, he realises that his interest in her is not only as a suspect. But as much as she may have left her childhood life behind, her trust in law enforcement is low, and her mission to save her sister cannot be jeopardised. And so the set up for a really rich, fast paced, exciting and by turns romantic story is in place.

It is a wonderful mixture of really quite scary - really Delilah does not have a strong self preservation gene, or she is super confident of her senses, because I would not be walking around that wilderness alone, that is for sure - funny, and adorably romantic, in spite of the challenges that the two of them face.

Thank you Connie Mann for a really good read.

I am a big fan of romantic suspense - I especially love romantic suspense where the heroine isn't sitting there waiting for someone to rescue her. Unfortunately, I didn't love this book.

Delilah is a researcher who is back in her home town to do research on a population of monkeys there - but also rescue her sister from their survivalist and fundamentalist family. Her family had tried to force her in to marriage at 16 - and she was able to escape and restart her life. Josh is an officer with the Fish and Wildlife Commission in the everglades. Its definitely a family affair on the team he works with. He is attracted to Delilah and can't stop trying to help her - even as she resists his help.

So - what didn't I like? Well - Delilah had a lot of TSTL moments. I applaud her wanting to take charge - but she waffled around so much - taking help, but then pushing it away for no reason. It was just a really weird push-pull. I understood her history - but at a certain point it just became irritating that she "could take care of herself" and pushed everyone away - only to change her mind and need help on the next page. I feel like they could have rescued her sister and dealt with the other issues a lot better if she had worked with Josh and his team more. I also didn't understand why certain things were brought up. For example, the mystery of the monkey babies missing moms - if that wasn't involved in the story -why even bring it up? Same with Josh's former fiance. Her death had a significant impact on him - but by the end of the story he hadn't even mentioned it to Delilah. What was the point?

Overall - I just didn't love this book.

I received it as an ARC from NetGalley, but these opinions are all my own.

Compelling storyline, explosive action and suspense fill the pages of this well-written Romantic Suspense story.

Delilah Paige is in Ocala, Florida to do a study on the rhesus macaque monkeys in the area for her master's program in anthropology at Florida State University. Covertly as her name is really Delilah Paige Atwood she is there to rescue her younger sister from a forced marriage when she turns sixteen. Delilah grew up in the area with her survivalist, anti-government family. She escaped the family and the man her father was forcing her to marry when she was sixteen. She really only returned to save her sister. As Delilah was searching for her sister Mary and setting up their escape she saw things she shouldn't have seen including a dead body. From that point on Delilah encountered danger everywhere. Fortunately Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officer Josh Tanner stepped up to help and protect her. At first Delilah wasn't sure she could trust Josh as she was raised to trust nobody in government, especially law enforcement. But not only did she come to trust Josh, she found herself falling for him. She had to get her feelings under control because she couldn't stay in Ocala.

Josh Tanner takes his job with FFWC very seriously. Along with his family who mostly have jobs in law enforcement they does their best to do their duty. Lately he has been a little distracted by the presence in town of Delilah Paige. He enjoys stopping by the Corner Cafe in the morning to have a cup of coffee with Delilah and engage in some friendly conversation with a side of flirtation. When Josh hears about Delilah's troubles he is determined to help and protect her. She opens up to him a little when he goes to her little green camper to ask her about the body she saw. Little by little as the days pass Delilah tells Josh her whole story since the attempts on her life have really scared her. Josh knows he is falling for Delilah so will keep her safe.

Beyond Power by Connie Mann is the second book in her Florida Wildlife Warriors series. This is a super suspenseful story. The action is non-stop. I had a hard time putting this book down because I couldn't wait to read about what would happen next. Reading about the anti-government groups was quite interesting. I'm sure I wouldn't be happy living off the grid like they do. I look forward to the next book in the series.

I loved this author’s Safe Harbor series , and this second book in the Florida Wildlife Warriors series, is definitely another winner.
If you read book one, Beyond Risk, you met Josh Tanner, brother of the main character in that book.
Josh Tanner is a Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation officer. For those unfamiliar with this division, the officers have full police powers and statewide jurisdiction.
He meets Delilah Paige (Atwood) in the local coffee shop, and is enchanted by her and only knows her as the monkey researcher. But Delilah is not only in Ocala to research the monkeys. She’s there to rescue her sister who will soon be 16 and will be forced to an arranged and illegal marriage,. A man who is a member of the anti-government militia . Delilah barely escaped when she was 16 and wants to be sure he sister is safe and out of harm’s way.
But in doing so, Delilah places herself in danger. When Josh realizes what she plans to do, he is determined to keep her safe. In doing so, their attraction intensifies, but Delilah has no plans of staying in town, and Josh has already had his heart broken and isn’t willing to go through that pain again.
But fate and the danger keeps them together. Will Delilah be able to save her sister? Will she survive trying to do so? And what about Josh, will he be able to keep Delilah out of harms way and maybe finally get their HEA?
The plot will keep you engaged from the first page to the last. The characters are complex and the storyline opens your eyes not only to the work being made by the FWC, but also the reality of the existence of the militia in the US.
Another winner by this author and one that leaves you wanting to get the next book of the series in your hands asap.
I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

This is book 2 in the Florida Wildlife Warriors series and I would read the first book before reading this one as it picks up where that one left off, even though it's a different couple. Josh Tanner is a bush pilot and officer for the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. He is tough and can handle whatever comes his way in rugged areas and doesn't hesitate to do what he needs to. But when he comes across Delilah Atwood in the woods he knows that there is more going on than what she says. Delilah has come back to to try to save her sister from the same fate that befell her. She isn't about to let some man from the government stop her from doing what she needs to do. Now Josh must win her trust in order to keep her safe and find a way to truly help her.

I really liked this one. This is the first time I have read this author and I was a little iffy on whether I would like it. But I was pleasantly surprised with how much I truly did like it! josh is definitely an alpha male who will do anything to protect the people that he cares about but he also is sweet and has a heart of gold. Delilah went through something that no girl should ever have to deal with. She has a core of strength that I absolutely loved and even with the things in her past, she still has such a capacity for love that I almost didn't believe it. I just wish she hadn't been quite so stubborn about being able to do everything on her own. Definitely got on my nerves a little bit but it still didn't detract from the story itself. And not enough to make me not go back and buy the first book because I wanted to know the whole series!

Beyond Power is Connie Mann’s second book in her Florida Wildlife Warriors series.

We often forget that beyond Disney World and the beaches, Florida is quite rural and wooded. Josh Tanner is a pilot and officer for the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, derogatorily called the Fish Cops.

Delilah has come back to the Ocala region to rescue her sister Mary. Mary will soon turn sixteen and will suffer the same fate that Delilah had escaped from years ago, being married off within an ultra-fundamental militia group. Self-sufficient from her upbringing, she nevertheless will need to trust Josh and his FWC squad of heroes to rescue Mary. Her search for her sister brings up illegal fire arms dealing, militia alliances, and corrupt politicians that put a target on Delilah’s back. Adventure, suspense and romance ensue.

Mann really knows her setting. You can feel the heat and humidity while reading her descriptions of the wooded landscapes and lakes of this part of Florida. Also, who knew there were monkeys in Florida? But, since it is Florida, there should be no surprise at all the crazy critters down there.

It is a nice change to have characters in a suspense/adventure novel that are not your standard police detective, attorney or military member.

There are a couple of love scenes but nothing explicit in detail or language. The fade to fireworks kind of love scenes that gives you a hint of heat.

I look forward to the next book in the Florida Wildlife Warriors series.

Josh is an officer with the Florida FWC (Fish and Wildlife Conservation).  Delilah is a student working on a research grant studying the rhesus macaque monkey.  She escaped a family of extreme survivalists at the age of sixteen and now she is back to get her little sister out before it is too late. Using her research as a reason to be searching in the woods surrounding Ocala, she searches for her family's homestead. While looking for her family and studying the monkeys, Delilah's life is threatened and she must figure out if it is her estranged family or someone else much more sinister threatening her.  Josh happens to be the one to save Delilah on several occasions.  Can he keep his heart from getting involved?  Is it already too late and can he convince Delilah to trust him with her heart as well as her protection?

Beyond Power is the second book in the Florida Wildlife Warriors Series.  Not having read the first book in this series, I do not feel as if I were missing parts of the story.  I will go and read the first book now as this book has been so good.  It is a well written action packed thriller.  It was a quick read for me as I had a hard time putting it down.  The story has plot twists and turns that I never guessed keeping me on the edge of my seat.  I love Josh's strong character.  He is loyal and honest and his family and friends show Delilah what it is like to belong rather than to be hidden while surrounded by people.

I definitely recommend this book.   I received a free copy and am voluntarily leaving a review which is my opinion alone.

This is the first book I've read by Connie Mann so I didn't know what to expect, but the blurb sounded interesting. Especially since it was set in Florida and it involved a FWC agent and a woman raised in an ultra-fundamental militia family.

Josh was a sweet yet protective man who found himself drawn to the beautiful, stubborn and cagey graduate student. He knew Delilah was hiding something, but he also knew that the only way to get her to open up was to have her trust him. And although their attraction was mutual and evident, so was their hesitation to engage with each other. Trust was something that didn't come easily to either Josh or Delilah, so it was nice to see them each lowering their walls as the story progressed. Ultimately, their connection won out and their romance came together.

"Sultry romantic suspense set in Florida's untamed wilderness..."

Ummm, I don't know about "sultry" unless you were talking about the Florida weather (hot and humid). I wouldn't call it slow-burn either, because their chemistry didn't really jump off the page for me. The connection and emotions were there, but it didn't necessarily felt passionate for me.

Anyway, I enjoyed the story overall, especially the cast of secondary characters, the action and the intrigue. I also enjoyed the camaraderie between the secondary characters and will definitely pick up book one so I can experience it first hand.

I'm glad I decided to give this author a chance. I'm looking forward to reading more books in the series.

This is the second installment from Connie Mann on her Florida Wildlife Warriors, yet for me this is definitely a stand alone. This is a wonderful story with complex characters that find things more complicated than they ever imagine. Delilah is a complex character and you get to watch her change before your eyes. She was raised by a stern and strict father who believed in living off the grid and didn't trust anyone. She was basically isolated from the outside world growing up. In the beginning of the story she has come back to area she was raised to research the monkeys in the area she was raised, but someone doesn't want her there. Josh is an officer with the Florida Fish and Wildlife, but he and Delilah do not see eye to eye on the monkey population. Josh is attracted to the researcher, Delilah, but with his history he's not ready to act on it. When Delilah finds a murdered body and several attempts on her life, things suddenly change between her and Josh. Can he protect her and find the answers he seeks?
This book has elements of suspense, mystery, romance, yet it also touches on some tough subjects like abuse and the militia. The author weaves words together that bring both the setting and characters to life for me. The suspense is edge of your seat and the mystery will keep you turn the pages to see what happens next. I really liked this book and would recommend it to anyone who likes a good suspense. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Lately I have been in the mood for a gripping, moving, action-packed romantic suspense so when I saw Beyond Power pop up in my feed, the cover and premise immediately begged to be devoured.

And whoa, boy did I devour.

First off, I need to start by saying that I love Josh’s profession. Often in RS you find heroes who are police officers, Navy SEALS, FBI agents, private bodyguards/security officers. This is, without a doubt, the first book I’ve read where the leading man is a Fish and Wildlife conservation officer and that is SUCH a refreshing breath of fresh air. Plus, Josh rocks those uniforms… even if it’s only in my head.

Phew, okay, back to the review.

As one would expect with any decent RS, we have a dead body. Unlike others in this genre I’ve read… there are also wild monkeys. Who knew there were wild monkeys in Florida? Well, Delilah apparently knew because our heroine is studying those crazy creatures, which led to finding the aforementioned dead body.

As much as I love reading RS, I have to say that I find them so hard to review because a good romantic suspense (and, yes, this is SUCH a good romantic suspense) has a million twists and turns and “OMG WTF just happened???” moments that you don’t want to share for fear of ruining it for another reader.

Trust me when I say that this is not only an excellent suspense that keeps you gripping the edge of your seat by the fingernails, it also brings the steamy, sexy romance that will make ice water a necessity.

Connie Mann's Book 2 in the Florida's Fish & Wildlife Series "Beyond Power" is a winner. One is placed right into the story in the first chapter. Delilah Atwood came back to her home town in disguise (shorter hair and going by the name of Delilah Paige who is doing a research paper on Monkey's in the Wildlife) to rescue her sister, Mary, who is turning 16 in a few weeks from their "aniti-government, paranoid" family. Delilah, when she was 16, escaped from her family who was marrying her off to an older man in a business deal. She was not going to let that happen to Mary either. Using the WiFi in the Corner Cafe, Delilah met Josh Tanner, a Fish & Wildlife Officer, which began their relationship. Ms. Mann's descriptions of characters and scenes is so real, I saw myself in each one. The story was filled with twists and turns some of which I didn't see coming at all. In some of the chase scenes, my heart was pounding till the end. The building of the relationship between Delilah & Josh was very lifelike with romance, desires and struggles. All in all, "Beyond Power" is an adventure filled with suspense, romance, family ties, intrigue and surprise. I couldn't put the book down. Looking forward to Book 3.

Beyond Power is the first story by Connie Mann that I remember reading. It won’t be the last. If like me you find romantic suspense your cup of tea then this is an author for you. While the romance builds, it does not overpower the suspense in the story. The focus stays on the danger, adventure, and mystery within the plot with the romance coming naturally. That is just the way I like it. The characters are aware of each other and their attraction but it is not the instant lust that sometimes happens in romantic suspense.

I was afraid from the cover that it might be a Rambo type story taking place in the wetlands. Then I found that the cover had been revised. This one fits much better. It is not that way at all. Josh Tanner is a by the book Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officer. It reminds me of NCIS New Orleans with the radicals in the area but it is way, way better!

I like this author, her style of writing and the plots. This one shows the plight of many women even here in the US. I will be reading more by her.

An ARC of the book was provided by the publisher through NetGalley which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Delilah Atwood is the heroine in the second book of the Florida Wildlife Warriors series. Delilah has returned to her hometown to study monkeys and to attempt to save her sister from a nefarious plan which is scheduled to happen on her 16th Birthday. She meets Josh Tanner and there is an instant attraction. Josh and Delilah have to work to trust each other because of their pasts.
The book has a wonderful romance and connections between the extended characters. Connie Mann does a wonderful job developing the love story and adding in plenty of excitement. For me, I was happy that Delilah was not “that heroine”, the one that makes a ton of stupid mistakes to show she is independent. She does make some stupid mistakes, but not enough that you get irritated by her. I had not read the previous book in the series, so I can honestly say that it works well as a standalone.
I felt the pace of the book was excellent. Slow enough that a true love was able to develop, but with enough exciting events to keep the reader engaged. I would highly recommend this book. I would recommend this book to people who enjoy reading Elle Kennedy’s Killer Instincts series or the Cobra Elite series by Pamela Clare.
I was provided a copy of this book by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Read this in one day! Really enjoyed this sweet romance. Miss Mann has a talent for creating relatable, close-knit families with a circle of friends that are just as much family as those who are blood-related to them. I enjoyed meeting the Tanner family and their law enforcement friends in her first book in this series, BEYOND RISK. It was fun seeing these characters again in this second book, BEYOND POWER. It was especially touching to see how Wildlife officer Josh, known as Hollywood to his friends, worked through his grief over the loss of his fiancee two years ago and was able to connect with Delilah Atwood. She has a past as well, and together they learn to trust again and fall in love. All of this happens against the backdrop of the Ocala, Florida wilderness. It's a unique setting and the fact that Josh is a Wildlife officer makes it even more interesting and fun. The story flows quickly and moves to breakneck speed in the last third. The ending is full of tension and really keeps you glued to the page to see how in the world this hero and heroine are going to survive, let alone get their happy ever after.

Connie Mann
I had read everything Connie had written and was delighted to be able to read and ARC and write a review on her latest book. Beyond Power. It is #2 in the Florida Wildlife Warriors series. The first book was Beyond Risk. I very much enjoy Connie’s Voice when she writes. Her style is easy to read and clear as a bell. You feel what the people are feeling. It is a quick but exciting book.

I particularly enjoyed the information about the local wildlife, forest and rivers. If you have never visited the Ocala National Forest and kayaked on the Silver River you should make it a must.

I felt she handled all of the simultaneous plot lines deftly. There were the monkeys (which, yes, do live there); the survivalists, which I was amazed by the insights she offered. The militia, who are probably more active than we all realize. The love story that binds the whole book together was paced perfectly. I can’t wait to read more about the FWC and their adventures. We need stories on the whole crew, right?!

This was a fun suspenseful romance set in the wilds of Florida. We follow Delilah Atwood who grew up in Florida's Wilderness with her family who lived off the grid. She has recently returned after running away when she was 16 to work on her master's thesis on some local wildlife while also trying to find her sister so she can take her away. While doing her research she meets handsome Josh Tanner who is an officer for the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation. Together they must find out who is trying to set up a local militia and what is happening with the local monkey population that she is researching. There were so many things I really enjoyed abut this story, like the research she did and the population of people who live in the wilds there. I love when a book makes me want to know more about something and this book definitely did that. The romance was also great, I liked having both characters points of view and seeing how they learn to grow throughout the story. Highly recommend this fun story if you are wanting a fast pace thrill of a romance. Thank you Netgalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca for my copy to review.

This is a good well rounded book and the first book I've read from the author (Thanks NetGalley for the early read!)

Delilah is a monkey researcher but also has some other reason to come back to the area she grew up in. She gets caught up in some intrigue and is put in danger because of her past and Josh, an officer from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission (I didn't know these were even cops!) ends up protecting her as they uncover the truth. It was great to become acquainted with the rest of the team and I know that this series will be good based on this story! I think the only thing is that the push and pull of their relationship did take a while to resolve and her stubbornness did get a little tiring after a while.

It was overall a pretty fast moving story and towards the end, I couldn't imaging putting the book down. I needed to know what happened. It was well written and interesting and I loved the little facts about the monkeys as well. I look forward to the future stories about this team!

Beyond Power by Connie Mann

Beyond Power is my first Connie Mann book, but definitely not my last!

Delilah Paige was raised as a survivalist in the swamps of central Florida, taught never to trust authority and to blend into the background in order not to be noticed. As an adult, it is a complete reversal for her to put herself out as a researcher of the wild monkey troops in the same swamps from which she escaped, advocating for the monkeys to remain in the wild while educating humans not to feed them to keep the animals from becoming aggressive with humans who offer no food. She looks forward to seeing hunky Josh “Hollywood” Tanner at the local coffee shop, but must avoid any real entanglement with law enforcement. Finding a body apparently killed by a bear brings them into close contact regardless, and Delilah must find a way to work with Josh without revealing her background and true reason for being in the area. Sparks fly. How will Josh resist the pull while remaining heart whole? Fast paced and exciting read, Beyond Power catches one’s interest from the first page.

**This ARC was given to me by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review**
This is the first book I have read by this author. I enjoyed the premise and the fact that I didn't know anything about this monkey population in Florida--this was something new.

I'm not sure I felt like the character was true to her profession, or believable though. She FED THE MONKEY! And as difficult as I think it would be, as a researcher and observer, to watch an animal suffer, this is how it needs to be. Particularly since that very act is what was causing problems (for both tourists and monkeys).

The story itself was entertaining. There was just the right amount of trouble and suspense to keep me reading. The author incorporated several interesting plot twists that kept my pages turning.

As for the relationship between our H and h. I didn't really feel the connection. It just wasn't there. I liked them both. I found them interesting. But I just didn't believe that that relationship had evolved into true love.
