DESIRE FOR TOUCH, BLISS, ECSTASY HAVE BEEN PERMANENTLY UNPUBLISHED. They have been replaced by RIVERHART: Ben&Avia's Story which is the origin of all my books and characters.
ON HIS KNEES is available again as a stand-alone in the RIVERHART ORIGINS series, and also is PART ONE one of MATCHSTICK MEN: BOOK ONE OF HUNT&CAM4eVER 8-book epic mm bdsm love story
Fantastic read and great spin off into the new series. Loved the pace and tension- perfectly balanced, cleverly written and totally consuming. Hunter & Cam ooze confidence and their love for each other is pure. Not much heat / scenes in this book, it was all about the case - but we know enough about these two that you don’t need it ! Fantastic 😊
Unless you’ve never seen one of my reviews before, you probably know I’m a HUGE fan of Hunt & Cam. I’ve been with them from the very start and eagerly await every subsequent book. These two men are glorious together. Made for each other, Hunter Dane and Camden Snow come to life on the pages of these stories, and worm their way into your heart and head…well, they did for me.
But, if you’ve read the previous stories, you probably need to know that this book is different from the earlier titles. Where the older stories focus on the relationship between Hunt and Cam and their D/s dynamic with Hunter day job taking a (growing) backseat, The Interrogation is a pure and simple thriller. While the feelings they have for each other are still vivid, there are no on-the-page sex scenes to be found in this story.
As for the crime? When a young boy disappears, Hunter is put in charge of the case. The kidnapper is soon apprehended, but there’s no sign of the boy. He’s been left, somewhere in the wilderness to die a slow and horrible death in a blizzard that’s about to strike in a matter of hours. In a race against time, Hunter must get the man to talk while Cam is out searching for his victim. As the snow starts to fall, more than one life is at stake.
I have to admit that before I started The Interrogation I wondered if I would miss those extremely enticing scenes. Would Hunt & Cam be able to captivate me as much without getting their clothes off, without their ever so imaginative sexual encounters?
I’m very happy that I’m able to answer that question with a whole-hearted ‘YES’. The investigation in this story, the search for the young missing boy, and the tension during the interrogation were so intense that I didn’t have time to miss the sex. In fact, the timeline in this story is so tight that any time-out for private escapades would have felt wrong, contrived, and shoe-horned in. And yet, even without describing any explicit intimacies, the reader is never in any doubt how much these men mean to each other, how they live and breath for and because of the other.
This is one of those stories that forces the reader to pay close attention. Nothing is exactly what it seems. Nothing unfolds as you might expect. And you’ll find yourself torn between wanting to read slowly, just to make sure you don’t miss anything, and the urge to rush along and discover how it all ends. Between a manipulative perpetrator, policing politics and rivalries, an innocent young victim, a race against time, and a heroic dog, there really isn’t anything in this book not to love. But, best of all, as always, are Hunter and Camden: two heroes so perfect they shouldn’t work and yet manage to be memorable and incredibly more-ish.
I loved this book so much! I am glad I read some reviews so I would know there's really no romance in this. It is a spin-off from a previous series, and features an already established couple. However, I could still feel the chemistry, love, and trust without the love scenes. This was a definite thriller, and not much on the mystery side. The first few chapters seemed too short and abrupt, but I devoured every word. I have passed on the the series because it seems to feature more on the heavy side of bdsm, and that's really not my thing. However, my need to meet these characters from their beginning has changed my mind. I'm already halfway through book 1. I am loving the characters and mystery aspect of it, and I will probably devour the rest of the series.
I love a good mystery/police drama and having Hung and Cam on the case makes the story that much better! While I love the D/S dynamic between the two, I really enjoyed seeing the investigative side and seeing familiar faces from Hunt&Cam4Ever! The story was fast paced and compelling and I'm looking forward to more!
This is a new author for me. I'm not a fan of BDSM so I was glad it wasn't a major part of the story. A really great cast of characters. The twists were amazing. Loved this book. Found a new detective series which always makes me super delighted.
Another stellar addition to Ms. August’s list of books not to be missed. I couldn’t wait to read this book, but now I’m sad because I finished it an there won’t be another one for awhile. That being said I absolutely loved the complex plot with plenty of twists and turns to keep me thoroughly engaged. As usual Hunt and Cam are together but without any on page sex which, although I love their D/s dynamic, was not needed for the story nor did I miss it. Their commitment and love for one another is still as strong as ever. I was happy to have the rest of the special unit back together as well as several excellent additional characters. I can’t wait for more of the Hunter Dane Investigations.
I had planned to savour this over a few days, but once I started I couldn't stop so I treated myself to a day of reading . ;-) Perfectly paced with a fascinating range of characters, I honestly loved it from beginning to end.
This book is part of the new Hunter Dane Investigation series. I have read and enjoyed all the books in the Hunt & Cam 4Ever series which focuses on their relationship with the case taking a backseat. This book is fully about the investigation. However, it is still clear that Hunter and Cam are deeply committed. The crime and solving it were very interesting. It was fast-paced and emotional. There were a couple of surprises thrown in as well. I was a little nervous reading this because I loved the other books so much, but this was just as good. A great read!
Adira August is a truly talented author. I buy every book she writes, as I absolutely know it will be an excellent, well crafted story. I love Cam and Hunter, they are so good together. I would highly recommend this book, don't miss out on this wonderful world of Cam and Hunter.
I love the other books about Cam and Hunt - but this is a departure into Hitchcock territory. I'm glad I started it this morning instead of last night because I could not have put it down. Highly recommended, and I can't wait for the next one.
I love Hunter and Cam. This book, although short, was amazing. I loved following the investigation and I'm always learning something new. I hope to see more of them in the future.
This review and lots of other amazing reviews can be found at Love Bytes Reviews
Note: While this is a stand alone novel, I highly recommend the Hunt&Cam4Ever series to understand the dynamics of the team here.
There is a serial killer on the loose. Because of the identity of the fourth young boy taken, Hunter’s special unit is called in to assist. The other three abductions ended with the deaths of the young victims. But this time, they’ve gotten lucky and a traffic accident has given them a break and they may have identified the suspect. But of course that is only the beginning.
Hunt and his team move from their offices to Homicide and there are other homicide detectives brought into the case. There is also an FBI profiler who is involved. With the prior cases and some new angles for Hunt’s team to pursue, it’s a race against the clock. The young boy’s life hangs in the balance as a blizzard is about to hit. The whole team knows that they have got to find the boy quickly or it will become a recovery effort – as has happened before.
Once the suspect has been brought in, the fun an games begin. Hunt and the team pursue one avenue while Cam begins the search for the boy. But the snow is coming soon and there is no room for error in this game of cat and mouse. But when Cam says he will do something, he will follow through to the end.
Wow wow wow! This writer really knows how to write suspense. The twists and turns of this story were brilliant! I didn’t see half of this coming. I mean, I knew Hunt and Cam and their team would give their all to get this guy and find the victim before it was too late. But wow, I was so surprised so many times. The action was so good and I kept reading faster and faster to see what would happen next. These characters are just so well written. Smart. Brave. Committed. Every single person on the team is more than worthy of having their stories told. I cannot wait for more of these stories. This was very light on the romance angle – although Hunt and Cam are very much together – but that’s Ok. This was just a fantastically engrossing mystery with some great plot twistiness that will have me coming back for more. This couple is absolutely one of my favorites and I look forward to many more stories starring this cast of characters. If you’re a fan of Hunt&Cam4Ever series, or just great mysteries with an exciting and suspenseful plot, don’t miss this one. Highly recommended!
Well my review is going to be controversial. If no one had read any Hunt and Cam books before this one they’d probably have been quite happy with this book. Addi might as well have written it changing their names to something else. Their characters don’t shine through in what little we have of their on page interactions and also, thinking about it the interactions with the team. Their chemistry seen in earlier books is simply not there. I know this is a procedural police book and is moving away from the BDSM etc. I’m okay with that to some extent but I still think their undeniable spark, which in my opinion elevated the books exponentially, is missing. Instead of a three dimensional story it’s two dimensional. Tbh had I come across this book, new to the author, I probably wouldn’t have read it. I like a love story and engrossing interesting action books. I sincerely love Hunt and Cam and their dynamic. I feel that their investigations need some sort of romantic balance. Fine, remove the BDSM element, and maybe have less detail in the bedroom, but it needs their interactions, whether be it, just their daily lives showing the love between them and a little loving thrown into the mix. As I said earlier in this review this could be about anybody. Change Hunt and Cam’s names and you are left with a flat two dimensional story. I don’t mean to be unkind to Addi and her remarkable talents but I think Hunt’s dialogue in her mind was having an off day, a blip. Their indomitable energy, love and passion for each other is sorely lacking and unfortunately without this Hunt&Cam4Ever dies with it. I shall miss them. Addi please reconsider your thoughts.
“The Interrogation: A Hunter Dane Investigation” by Adira August is a delicious and suspenseful thriller that features a charismatic team that investigates high-profile cases. A serial killer of young boys has taken his latest victim, and Dane, Cam, and the rest of The Unit, must race time and the elements to find him in time.
I adore these two men and the dedicated and intense folks they work with. The synergy that flows from them is inspiring, and the way they responded to the challenge of finding a kidnapped child was mesmerizing. The action starts with the very first line and tension ramps up throughout the story until it reaches the breathtaking climax.
Each of the folks in this story has a particular strength to bring to the table, and I am in awe at the way those talents were woven into an indomitable team. I’d love to know these folks in real life, and this author continues to impress with her tales that are guaranteed to grab your attention and make you bite your nails as you root for them to be successful, and sigh at the connection and mutual respect they demonstrate. Despite the lack of sexy times that are pervasive in the main series that this spins off from, this is just as compelling a story, and who can resist the dog with his own intense work ethic?
I am delighted that there is a new series featuring these guys and their colleagues, and I look forward to reading about more of their exciting adventures.
This new series and I do so hope its gona be a series has started off with an amazing start. Although in the timeline it falls prior to Secret Men We have the dynamic duo along with their team investigating a child abduction. We have no erotic sex scenes in this one, the loving relationship is there its just not front and centre. The plot focuses on the investigation itself, though its a puzzle of a mystery throughout. There is intrigue around the inter office departmental politics that are well crafted and carefully delivered. Skilfully written to keep the reader engaged, it's layered out like a trail of bread crumbs. We follow pieces of the puzzle that doesn't seem to fit and are not the usual direction Hunt would take, but continue to keep us engrossed. Mostly its about our emotions, its about frustration, despair, hope and love. Hey whats not to love about an Adira novel, recommended to all true fans after a thrilling suspenseful storyline with love at its core.
Suspense, a twist, and numerous treats for Hunt & Cam fans
Read this in one sitting, but took two breaks to breathe, get my heart rate back to normal, and to tweet the author things like "holy moly" 😀. This book pulled me in from the first sentence and was a wonderful rollercoaster ride.
I love the author's series featuring the relationship of Hunter and Cam. Those books had a strong secondary police procedural plot. This book is the reverse (although it takes place before the last H&C book) and, as much as I love the erotic sexuality of the MCs, I enjoyed this story just as much without any on-page sex. (Note to author: if you read this, this doesn't mean I'd not jump at more steamy books for these two!😉😍🔥🔥🔥)
The secondary characters will be familiar to fans and add depth and detail to the story. I want to read more about Garza and maybe he'll get a book of his own
What a great read!! I started this book, early in the evening, thinking I’d read a bit, then do some other things. Didn’t happen. This one grabbed me, & didn’t let go until the story was done. I never bite my nails, but almost started. I felt everything the good guys felt, & cried at the climax. I think I want to adopt both Cam & Hunter! The story was fast paced, never letting up, the suspense & tension, ramped way up, the portrayal of the main characters, & even the secondary ones, vivid & real. I highly recommend this book, but suggest you only start it when you are able to read it thru...you won’t want to put it down. Well told, Adira August!!!
Hunter’s special homicide unit must find a serial killer’s newest victim before it’s too late. Fortunately, a suspect is quickly identified and brought in for questioning, but the young victim is still unaccounted for, and there’s a blizzard coming that will make it nearly impossible for the search to continue. However, Hunter encounters some political headwinds that threaten the integrity of the investigation, while Cam has disappeared into a winter storm to find the missing boy.
It’s a lovely little mystery/suspense story featuring two of my favorite characters. Of course there’s a happy ending (pardon the pun): evil is punished and good is rewarded (mostly).
It’s not the most challenging mystery ever, and has a rather over-the-top approach to police interrogation protocols, but it keeps you turning the pages!
Final note: it’s very PG...so if you’re expecting the usual Hunter/Cam shenanigans, there aren’t any.
Excellent book! A mystery/suspense/thriller for which I couldn't completely predict the end. One of my favorite sort of books.
This book showcased Adira August's mystery writing skills. I think every book seems to be better than the last. No, this doesn't have any sex scenes, but there are some insights into Hunt and Cam's relationship.
Reading this book isn't critical to understanding the rest of the series. I would definitely recommend it though. It is a great mystery and an overall great read.
I have read and loved all the books about Cam and Hunt. This spinoff series is a bit different as the focus is specifically on the murder mystery. As much as I love the love story you just can’t beat a well written mystery. This one was interesting in that we met the perp fairly early in the book so we got a close up in the actual investigation with the known killer. I think in order to write from this perspective must be a challenge but the author outdid herself.
Truly appreciate the mystery and suspense contained in this book. Hunt and Cam are just both amazing characters and just hot, they are just so good together and I love how their brains compliment each other.. And let's not forget about how well the team unit works together. Adira always leaves me wanting more... Always more Hunter and always more Cam.. I really loved this book.
Love this one- as I do all these about Hunter and Cam. My only complaint is that I read them so fast and they are over too soon. Complex OMG characters, great crime solving and shivery villains. With all that is going on, I kind of flinched a bit about the crime, but that is me and no reflection on the author. Thank you for a great read!
Cam and Hunter never fail to entertain. I really enjoyed reading this book. It is more police procedural than the other books. It has less of their personal story You really need to read the others before reading this so that the characters make sense. But it is a great read and has a ending that leads to further cases developing in the future.
I was concerned about how I’d like this installment of Cam and Hunter without the smut that I’m used to. No need to worry. I was enthralled with the suspense right away and could hardly put it down. During the last quarter of the book I was ignoring everything around me so I could find out what would happen next. Love it.
I just love all of books in the series. They are all wonderfully written. As are all of Hunt and Cams books are but if when another one is written please let them have some quiet time to enjoy their honeymoon with no interruptions. And please bring Hunter back to himself. When will book 8 be out ? Can't wait to add the next book to my library.
Great suspense book as you follow Hunter and Can try to find kidnapped boy. It shows steps law enforcement goes through to find kidnap victims. Couldn't put book down. No sex involved in this book. Can't wait for next book.
I love all of your books. Hunter and Camden are two of my all time favorite characters. I hope you plan to write more books like this for Hunt and Cam. I would like a little more romantic scenes for them however.
This was a fast paced story with some twists. You know who did it but how they get the evidence to prove it was very interesting and exciting. All the time racing against the clock to try and save a child. Well done.
Hunter and his team are called in on a kidnapping, involving the governor's nephew. The suspect thinking he was smarter than Hunter, Agent Garza, Tech Twee, Cam Snow and the rest of team, found himself crying in the end. I loved this story.
I absolutely LOVED this book! It grabbed me from the first page, although I do confess the crime is one that is very upsetting. I always find it interesting to read through the thoughts and processes that Hunt, Cam, and their co-workers use. This was an awesome read and I hope for more!
