She’s feeling the heat. Or it might be a hot flash. Sometimes it’s really hard to tell.
It’s been four years since Monica lost the love of her life to a sudden and devastating heart attack. She’s held her family together and picked herself up with the love and help of her two best friends. Now Monica has a new business, a new wardrobe, and a new vision for the future.
As in actual psychic visions. Dreams that manifest in reality? Monica’s still not sure why or how it happened, but she’s been seeing everything from unexpected visitors to visions of fire and destruction.
Separating premonitions from morbid imagination is proving harder than Monica expected, and no one can tell her if these new, violent visions will become a reality.
Added to that, there’s a new fire investigator in town, and he’s more than a little suspicious about the anonymous and frighteningly accurate tips someone is calling in. Monica is feeling the heat… or is that a hot flash?
Is their town about to feel the burn of a serial arsonist, or can Monica, Robin, and Val figure out the dangerous secret smoldering at the heart of Glimmer Lake?

Psychic Dreams is a standalone paranormal women’s fiction novel in the Glimmer Lake series by USA Today best seller Elizabeth Hunter, author of the Elemental Mysteries and the Irin Chronicles.
Psychic Dreams by Elizabeth Hunter #3 of the Glimmer Lake series. Paranormal women’s fiction. Can be read as a stand-alone but best read as part of the series. Monica has psychic visions as a result of the car accident she and her two friends, Robin and Val had a few years back. Monica is seeing fire in her dreams. She and her friends, along with a new fire Marshall in town, will peel apart the clues and use local ghosts to prevent a tragedy. Or worse.
Monica, Robin and Val have created such a tight friendship this it’s inspiring. I love their immediate and unasked for help even bringing in spouses and children. Unconditional love and support make the mystery and events believable. Why not? Isn’t it a fact that as humans we use less than 10% of the brain? Ok, that’s a myth, but I choose to believe that some psychic abilities are real. Entertaining, suspenseful and delightful. Th epilogue ties this series to the next in Moonstone Cove. I’m diving in soon.
Psychic Dreams is the last book of the Glimmer Lake trilogy, which is a little sad as I have really enjoyed these stories following three women who after a near death experience gained different psychic powers.
Monica is the last story to tell. She lost her Firefighting husband to a heart attack three years ago and since then has finished raising her kids and started a new career of her own creating a bed and breakfast. But she still feels a bit lonely, she had planned to spend these years with her husband enjoying their empty nest, but now it is just her empty nest.
It was as if Life had said to her: “Oh, did you think you had a plan? How cute. That’s gone now. Figure it out.”
When Monica starts having visions of fires in her small town she is sure there is something strange about them and is obligated to team up with her other two psychically enabled friends Robin and Val to try and figure it out. When Monica starts having sex visions about the new Fire Chief, well she isn't really certain she is ready for that but her dream self seemed to enjoyed it. It does make their first meeting in person a little difficult when she keeps flashing to moments in the dream.
I have very much liked how most of the stories tied into the old history of the town and that they did have realistic supernatural roots. It was refreshing really to not feel like it was all over the top. Monica is a real and relatable person just trying to pick up the pieces of her life after the loss of her husband. She has great kids, drives a minivan and is just starting to figure out her new life. She didn't expect to ever get psychic powers and now she is just doing the best she can with them.
These have been really fun stories and the first I've read by Elizabeth Hunter but I will check out some of her other tales if they are this much fun.
I was given the opportunity to read an early copy. I have been eagerly awaiting the 3rd installment from the Glimmer Lake posse. I find this series so refreshing, with wonderful role models for all us women. They are strong, down to earth, real women and the way Elizabeth Hunter writes their stories is a reminder that we are incredible human beings, with life experience but we are emotional, full of life and with desires and wants for our future. I’ve loved both of the previous Glimmer Lake books so much but I now have a new favourite. I don’t want to give any of the story away but this was the romance story for me. I loved the twisting turns of the story, I loved the interaction between all the characters - and the new man in Glimmer Lake, oh he’s delicious!
In the third Glimmer Lake book the focus is on Monica, widowed four years ago and dreaming visions for two years, since her and friends Robin and Val gained psychic powers in a car accident together. Monica is dreaming of Fires so the three mid-life women start investigating , about the same time the new hot fire chief turns up to start the pre planning season for forest fires. I'm happy. Monica finally gets her romance, though there are very emotional moments in the book, especially involving the tree metaphor and her deceased husband Gil. It's a beautifully written chapter. As always we have the investigation, fun and mystery solving plus romance. Great read.
I really enjoyed this series and this final book about the three women who suddenly end up with psychic abilities. Monica has precognitive dreams. She's started dreaming about Glimmer Lake burning. She tries to figure out how to stop what is coming in her dreams. She also dreams of a very handsome man and having a relationship with him, which would be the first since her husband died four years ago. She's raised four productive children and is now ready for a relationship. Imagine when her dream man turns out to be the new fire inspector. I liked how the friends all work together to figure out what is happening and try to stop it. I'm going to miss this series but I see there's a new series coming and I can't wait.
Psychic Dreams by Elizabeth Hunter I am voluntarily reviewing this ARC.
I love this series. It’s that simple. Psychic Dreams is book 3 in the Glimmer Lake series. Three middle age women mysteriously end up with different psychic abilities after a serious car accident. Each book is one of those women’s story. This one is Monica’s story. Her ability is that she has dreams...psychic dreams. There is so much mystery in this book. This is not usually my thing. I love romance almost exclusively, except when Elizabeth Hunter writes and then I just love whatever genre she’s spinning. There’s some romance in this book, these books, but in my opinion they’re mostly mystery/paranormal, and I loved every word! Another five star read!!!
OK, I'll admit I'm probably closer in age to some of the thousands of years old vampires in Elizabeth Hunter's books than I am some of the characters I read about these days, but frankly books OF ANY GENRE that fall into my age bracket are simply few and far between--and there's just something about finding a heroine who not only looks like you but FEELS like you, that resonates with me. I also love that these women aren't your standard trope of paranormal heroes! Everything about this series is refreshing and new, while still being the same Elizabeth Hunter brand of awesome at the same time. So glad she's taken this on!
I've been excitedly awaiting Monica's novel, and Psychic Dreams did not disappoint! The friendship between Val, Robin, and Monica is as strong as ever, and that's a good thing because they have one huge mystery to solve. With a disaster on the horizon, the women along with Mark, Sully, and the incredibly handsome new fire chief, Gabe, have to piece the clues together to save Glimmer Lake! It was a well written, and has a lightness to it, despite the grave circumstances of the plot. There's just so much love and support from all the characters that you know they'll get through anything together. It was funny at times, deadly serious at others, and an overall delight to read. Though this series is at its end, there's a teaser at the end as to what comes next for Elizabeth Hunter and PWF, and I'm excited to read what comes next!! Definitely a 5 star read, Psychic Dreams is amazing!
I was lucky enough to get an early copy of this awesome book. I could not put this book down. I was dying for Monica’s story and how it would play out, because she was a widow, and grown up kids, how would moving on be for someone like that? Especially with Psychic abilities! EH did a stunning job. I LOVED the plot and story! Ugh I seriously didn’t expect it! It exceeded my expectations! I love how strong and humble Monica is. I probably wrote down some parenting pointers as well because she seems like the mom I want to be. I love this group of friends and how they can conquer everything together! I’m so excited for the next series!!!
Three women end up with different abilities after a near death experience. Monica develops psychic visions when she is asleep. She has visions of a massive fire destroying the town of Glimmer Lake. As Monica and her two other friends,Robin and Val try to stop the disaster more information is revealed about how the town of Glimmer Lake was formed. Secrets that did not have a happy ending. Monica, a widow of a fireman, also meets Gabe Peralta, a fire inspector who while attracted to Monica, doesn't believe she is having visions. As Monica receives different clues in her visions each night, the race is now on to prevent a serial arsonist from destroying the town. The attraction between Monica and Gabe is steamy. She has been a widow for four years and has never dated anyone besides her childhood sweetheart Gil, Gab is a divorced father of a teen aged son. Monica, while attracted to Gabe will not act on the attraction until the arsonist is found. We also find out more about the ghost Bethany that Robin communicates with. This story had suspense, intrigue, characters that came into their own and a great resolution to the mystery of Glimmer Lake. This is not a standalone story. You need to read books one and two to understand the story line. It is well worth it. I look forward to the spin off of this series which involves a skeptical character in the story.
Psychic Dreams: A Paranormal Women’s Fiction Novel (Glimmer Lake Book 3)- Elizabeth Hunter
This is the third and final book in the Glimmer Lake series by Elizabeth Hunter, although there is talk of a spinoff series thankfully. The series centers around three best friends who all develop some sort of psychic abilities after a traumatic event. The MFC in this book is Monica. She is a widow with four grown children, so she is also a bit of an empty nester. Monica is a kick ass female who has started a successful business running a hotel. Monica has premonitions and her most recent dreams are disturbingly about the whole town going up in flames. California summer season often has fires and she is determined to try and thwart this possible tragedy. Bring in her two best friends , also with psychic abilities, a handsome new Fire Chief who makes her hotter than her dreams. It’s another amazing mystery/adventure for Monica and her friends in a well paced, entertaining, surprising, funny and romantic unable to put down book. Books most enjoyed read in order. Hope that new series comes out soon!
This is the third book in the Glimmer Lake series of Paranormal Women’s Fiction focusing on main female characters who are 40+ with all the life experience that goes with it. Monica is a widowed mother of 4 grown children, part owner of a small hotel in the California mountains, and a precognitive. She dreams about events that haven’t happened yet. Her latest dreams of of fire engulfing her entire small town. Working with her best friends who also have paranormal abilities, she is racing to stop a disaster from happening. It’s been four years since her beloved firefighter husband died suddenly and she’s ready to start dating. Into the picture comes the new fire inspector and she’s having sex visions of the two of them! So join us for all the intrigue and romance as we go back to Glimmer Lake.
I was so happy when an early copy of this book landed on my kindle for review. I have always been a sucker for an HEA story for a widow and I’ve wanted Monica’s story since the moment we met her in Suddenly Psychic. One of the things I have enjoyed about this series is how I can see so much of myself in each one of these wonderful ladies. The connection with them is so real! But I have come to expect that with ones that Elizabeth has written ;) When I read about what the loss of Monica’s husband was like, I felt adrift for a while, my heart broken for her and a true fear realized within myself. I sat there with glistening eyes at how perfectly that heartache was captured. As a fire wife myself I found the parts that dealt with that aspect accurate and well researched which made it an even deeper connection with Monica for me.
I was pleased with the conclusion of the Glimmer Lake series, Psychic Dreams had some of those creepier vibes that made me fall for it in book 1. I will say that I had preconceived ideas about who Monica would end up with and kept thinking I knew what would happen, that I had certain characters pegged. But Ms. Hunter took me pleasantly by surprise and kept me guessing. I really like when a story isn’t predictable.
I enjoyed Monica’s life transition in the book, and with the current supernatural fire mystery it blended really well together. As always I loved some of those side characters a TON and could read an entire series about Robin, Val, and Monica’s children! In the end I felt that the gang that had assembled with these friends and couples is the right group to take on more mysteries in the future. Thanks you for Monica’s happily ever after and more spooktastic adventures with these amazing friends!
Well, surprise!, this one is about Monica. I still enjoy this world, and this book was no less. Ms. Hunter is putting books out at a record pace and, so far, she has not disappointed.
Well, we are off to find Monica a new husband. It is her turn and she has been a widow long enough. I do wish we had had more time to watch the romance blossom here instead of just kind of *happen*, but it is still organic and makes sense.
The mystery in this one ends up being a bit creepy and involved possession . . . I was not a fan. Also, quite obvious as to who it was, though they why was a bit surprising. Ok. Not really. But, it *could* be.
So, yea, I have issues. But, I still enjoyed the ride. The story was complete and I didn't feel like we were short changed anything. It was fun to see Mark and Robin so delightedly happy with each other!
Awesome third instalment of this great series. Love love love these three ladies. I was so thrilled to get an early copy of this book. I just wanna shout about how good it was. I love the interaction between Monica, Robin and Val. It’s great to get a story where the characters are a little older.I feel I could be part of Glimmer and all it’s residents. The great detail and world building of Glimmer makes me want to go back time and time again. I really enjoyed the real life quandaries that many women and men have about loosing their spouse and starting again in a new relationship. Fantastic series!!!
I love Elizabeth Hunter’s books, and I feel like one of these stars might be out of loyalty. This is my least favorite of her series, but I liked Monica’s story best. Again, as someone in her mid-forties, I’m probably a target demographic, but I’m really getting tired of these middle-aged women feeling sorry for their deteriorating bodies, regretting the first half of their lives, and freaking out about what to do next. You all are in your 40s, not 70s!!! I’ve got an 11 yo and two four year olds, please don’t be telling me I’m at death’s door. But enough about me. I liked learning more about Monica. Her character seems very vanilla and I would have liked to know a bit more about the falling out with her family or her relationship with Gil’s family, but basically she’s a woman who gets stuff done in her own quiet way, and is good at letting everyone figure out their own path. But the story wasn’t much of a story, basically a slightly different version of the first book in the series. It was easy to work out what was going to happen, and there wasn’t any surprise. I’m glad there wasn’t much devoted to the love interest, too. Basically, this was a good and easy read for anyone who doesn’t want to deal with the reality that is the shitshow of 2020. I feel like I should lower my rating by a star after reading what I’ve written here....
“Psychic Dreams” is the third and final book in the “Glimmer Lake” series by Elizabeth Hunter. Written in the new Paranormal Women’s Fiction (PWF) genre, the books feature grown-A women (all 40+) as the lead characters. In the “Glimmer Lake” books, those women are three life-long friends: Robin, Val and Monica who have all developed psychic powers after a bizarre accident. The first two books were Robin’s and Val’s stories, “Suddenly Psychic,” and “Semi-Psychic Life” respectively.
I had mixed feelings about “Psychic Dreams.” Pros: • This book was the perfect length and “mood” for summer reading. • It was a great wrap up to the series. There were no cliff-hangers, all the loose ends were tied up, and everyone seemed to “get their man,” (although, the books are more paranormal sleuthing vs. paranormal romance). • There is also a tie-in to Hunter’s upcoming PWF series, which appears to be set adjacent to the “Glimmer Lake” world, but will feature different women in the lead. • As always, the over-40 humor was spot on.
(not precisely) Cons: • This didn’t exactly feel like just Monica’s story. To me, it felt more like a “group” storyline where it took the dynamic-trio and their plus-ones to all solve the final mystery. That’s not really a bad thing, so… • I really liked that Monica had the two hot silver fox suitors. I just didn’t get enough of the interaction between her and either one of the fellas, (she seemed to be in “mom” mode most of the time). I kinda would have liked to see her take a little more time and weigh her options. The men each offered her something different. It would have been fun to see the two of them interact in some friendly competition for her affections.
Again, over all, I thought "Psychic Dreams" was a great wrap up to the series. Looking forward to more PWF books.
I had an opportunity to read an advanced copy of “Psychic Dreams” in exchange for an honest review.
4.5 Stars... First and foremost, I just want to say that I have thoroughly enjoyed this series of books by Elizabeth Hunter... I have related to the MC in each read one way or the other and Monica was no exception... She is feisty, fiercely protective, and incredibly brave; not to mention wickedly funny and spunky... I really loved hearing her voice and watching her as she navigated this latest mystery... And what a mystery it was, wrapping the past and present together through tragedy and triumph, and adding a supernatural element breathed an added aspect into the storyline making it invigorating and captivating... I found myself mesmerized by the storyline from the start... I am excited to read the spin-off series as well... Thanks to Elizabeth Hunter for giving us such dynamic female leads who move through their vulnerabilities with dignity and integrity having come out on the other side stronger for the journey:)
Monica’s story was so true to this character whom we’ve gotten to know (and love) in the earlier books from this series. The pace, the content and the excitement all felt exactly on point for her personality. As with the other Glimmer Lake books, there’s a sweet new romantic lead. I valued reading Monica’s struggles to be respectful to her late husband while recognizing that she needs to start fully living her life again too. The paranormal plot kept me intrigued early on and then it all fell into place nicely. I received an early copy of this book in exchange for an honest review and I’m happy to report that it was exactly what I needed right now! While I personally identified most with Val’s story in Semi-Psychic Life, this book resonated with me like a cup of Hot Chocolate on a cold day. It felt comfortable and cozy with just a touch of heat. I’d definitely recommend this whole series!
These books are so good you read them in a flash and then beat yourself up for finishing things so fast. Even after telling yourself to pace your reading.
Although you dive into Monica's life and learn more about her kids and her as a mom, the story is still vastly different from Val's. It's amazing. I've said this before but Elizabeth Hunter has a gift. Draws you in from the very beginning with Monica's dream to the tease at the end.
As with the other books in this trilogy, the past comes to haunt those at Glimmer Lake. We deal once again with the beginnings of the town and get introduced to new characters, the new Roswell House, the family of the magic 3, but our ladies still take front and center stage. This story was a perfect mix of magic, tension, fear, suspense and chemistry. My only wish was for Monica to make a certain someone grovel some more but when she lit into his behind I was rooting for her. This is a must read and I swallowed it up. And now I am upset that I'm not only done but have to wait for next trilogy that was hinted at.
Excellent finale to three psychically gifted friends from Glimmer Lake. I woke up, looked at my calendar, downloaded the book. Read straight through and immediately want more. Great characters; smart, funny, and heroic. Ms. Hunter, please don't let the trilogy format confine you! There has got to be at least twenty adventures in store for these three friends alone! Though I am looking forward to new psychic friends adventures in Moonstone Cove. Great location names, by the way.
It was a lovely reminder of the complex and warm friendships of the ladies of Glimmer Lake. Russell House sounds like a hotel I'd love to visit. Spend some time there with a little R & R.
Anyway, this was a great addition to the previous 2 books. Monica has the precognition/vision power and is being woken with the vivid vision of lots of fires. The book progresses with the investigation on what this means not only for Monica but everyone around the little Glimmer Lake town.
I really enjoyed the way the relationships progressed and deepened as the story grew. The characters are well rounded and well written. EH knows how to write characters that we can easily identify with and want to be friends with.
I would, as usual wholeheartedly recommend the books and hope you enjoy this one as much as I did..
Oh man..... This book was a chefs kiss to end this series. I'm so glad we ended with Monica. Can I just say how hot Gabe is. I loved loved loved this book. It was great watching the girls in action one last time. I love going back to Glimmer Lake and getting to visit again. I don't want to spoil anything so, go read this book! We get to see Monica love again after losing Gil. Apparently Miss Monica has a thing for sexy firefighters 😉. I loved getting to know Monica's babies this time around. What would life be without nosy, nosy kids. I'm sad this is the end of the trio but hopefully they will feature some in the new series.
So the 3rd and final Glimmer Lake mystery. I’m going to miss these girls. Monica’s story was sweet, heartfelt, down to earth. And try as I did, I could not guess the ending. The twists and turns had me guessing all the way till the end.
Monica has started dreaming of fires, before they happen, and there’s a link to the past that the girls just can’t work out yet.
Once again, these three are total friends goals. But this time felt a little more focused on Monica and her relationship status. I did enjoy reading the other characters also. Family support and caring has ever been present in this series, this book was no exception. It is so nice to read about caring, level-headed characters, who want to do the right thing, defend the people they care about, and are brave enough to do it.
I am left totally satisfied after this book. Positive vibes all over.
Oh, dilly-dilly! This is one of those books that you stay up reading until midnight to finish it, but then the next day you wake up disappointed because it's over. Psychic Dreams was probably my favorite story in the Glimmer Lake series. There was so much dimension going on in Monica's visions, it really felt like you were there and experiencing everything that she seeing. We have a few new characters that we got to meet, including a smoking hot chief, and of course Val and Robin are back. Read this book if you want to be sucked into the world of mystery, friendships, and finding love after loss. Elizabeth Hunter aced this one!
I loved the this book so much!! Monica has such a sad story. I am so glad she managed to find happiness, with her new psychic powers, her new career and a hot and hunky fire chief!! The trio of women are so empowering to read about and the bond and friendship they share is incredible. Elizabeth hunter writes such real and inviting characters that you feel like your right there in Glimmer lake immersed in all the adventure!!
