Imagine living the life of hundreds of identities throughout centuries of history, going from being a king to a slave, and everything else in between. Meet the man who doesn’t like to reveal his true name, but instead goes by many others in the hope of forgetting his failures. Will he be able to help defeat the present day alien race that wants to colonise Earth, and will his beloved FirBolg clan help him do it?

The author manages the transition from past to present throughout the book with effortless ease, and in a way that does not leave you feeling confused in the slightest. In fact, this interlacing between the two keeps you firmly on the edge of your seat, desperate to find out what happens next! I love the fact that the hero is not made out to be perfect and has many shortcomings, this makes him relatable and all of the characters in the book are so well developed that you feel you know their very traits and thought processes too.

This book has it all, mythology, science fiction, epic battles, romance, and more! Overall, I loved the author’s style of writing, the deep character development, and the imagery created by the author’s descriptions. It is a fantastic book and I can’t wait for the next one!

Driving around the bay in Newfoundland, we came across a local author selling his books right out of his garage. Why not support a local author?

I don't think I expected this to be on par with a New York Times bestseller. But honestly, I expected a little more.

Dangled prepositions and misplaced commas aside, I'd say the biggest thing this book was lacking was a good editor.

The general premise of the story is original, and even ambitious. Combining fantasy and science fiction genres is a bold move. And alternating between a present-day narrative with flashback to mysterious former lives is an effective storytelling technique.

But I'm afraid that telling the story of a 5000-year-old protagonist, and intertwining too many battles over the centuries, with too many characters, ends up feeling like the author bit off more than he could chew.

I think a good editor would have simplified the story, cut out some of the extraneous descriptions, and caught a few of the nonsensical details that serve only as a distraction.

Also, it would have been nice to know from the onset that the story wasn't going to be concluded by the end of the novel. Instead, we're given a preview of what is to come in the next (as yet unpublished) book in the series.

And it sounds even more convoluted. I think I'll pass.

Simply awesome. The author finds a way to do it again. If you are not familiar with Thaine Chase I highly recommend this book as well as his other. You find an author with a talent for keeping his readers stuck to the pages and turning until dawn.

Wow! Now that was an intense ride!!!

Incredible pacing, great characters, and a storyline that had me turning pages like a maniac. Imperfect heroes are my weakness and this book gave me that and so much more. If you like mythology (especially Irish) mixed with modern day angst and a healthy dose of mystery, you should love this book.

Now that I found out it's a series... Bring on book two!!
