A HEART-STOPPING INTERNATIONAL THRILLER THAT RACES FROM THE PIRATED WATERS OFF THE HORN OF AFRICA TO THE STREETS OF WASHINGTON DC. Dr. Paul Alban lives a seemingly simple life, running a medical aid clinic in Somalia. Unknown to his patients, he’s also an operative for the CIA. His time in this assignment has been relatively mundane. Until a pair of Somali pirates enter Paul’s clinic for treatment. The meeting sets off a violent chain of events. A mysterious container was taken from a recently pirated vessel. A band of terrorists are trying to get the deadly cargo inside, and kill countless innocent lives. Now only Paul can stop them. But first he must confront his past, and the betrayal of those he trusted most. Because Paul has been hiding secrets of his own—and with the fate of thousands in his hands, he can’t run any longer. COMPROMISED is a heart-stopping tale of greed, betrayal, and redemption. It’s an action-packed international thriller perfect for fans of Nelson DeMille, Daniel Silva, and David Baldacci.
Tom Saric lives on the East Coast and writes crime thrillers. His first book, Indicted, was released in early 2019, followed by Compromised. Don't Look In, the first book in a new series featuring Dr. Gus Young will be released October 6, 2020. It is available for pre-order now.

Q: People hear of the U.S. government torturing anyone, there’s an outcry, and they want justice. (c) How unusual. Quaint little buggers. Q: Let’s not debate worldviews. That could go on forever. (c)
Some bad logic afoot but then it's just a regular action novel.
Fun time (or, rather, the wonderful screaming cranium time): Q: Something in the back of his cranium screamed so loudly that he thought he heard it echo. (c) Ouch. Sounds almost paiful. Not docking anymore stars for this 'cause it's hilarious.
Tom graciously sent me a digital copy of his book for free in exchange for an honest review. Thanks!
I had previously read and reviewed Indicted by Tom Saric and said that I enjoyed that book. Well I liked this one even better! It reminded me so much of Robert Ludlum's The Bourne Identity. (The book, not the movie). There was so many twists and turns that the reader, just like Paul, didn't know who they could trust.
Much like Indicted's protagonist, Paul was not a superman. He was buoyed by adrenaline and fear, but was affected but surroundings. I started watching Season 6 of Homeland (yes, I'm behind!) just after I finished reading this, and the feelings that I get from both the book, and the Homeland episodes is deep mistrust of the government.
Once again, I have to mention how well crafted this story is. It is obvious that Saric has done his homework in preparing this thriller, and that just makes the read even more enjoyable.
I don't want to talk too much about the ending, because duh, spoilers but damn, that ending is fire. In my head (because I had been so reminded of the Bourne books), I heard the first trills of the theme from the movies. It fits!
It is a great book, a great thriller, and I hope more people get to know Tom Saric's name in this genre. I saw on his GoodReads profile that he's working on another story that has Robert Braun (from Indicted) as the protagonist. Super exciting!
As a CIA operative, Paul has been carrying out routine covert operations in the Horn of Africa for years under the guise of clinic doctor. This time is different. When the Somali pirates intercept an arms shipment they find unexpected weapons not included on the manifest – deadly weapons that could kill thousands – and Paul is implicated.
How do Frontier Doctors International, Somali pirates, and national security intersect? Dr. Paul Alban needs to find out before the trail disappears along with his girlfriend Dr. Ellen Al-Hamadi.
This is a well-written spy thriller with non-stop action and intrigue. I received a free copy but my review is voluntary.
I received an ARC of Compromised and chose to provide this review. Compromised is an action-packed spy story that is filled with international intrigue and government double-dealings that seem like they are right out of the current day’s news. If you are looking for a gripping story that is near impossible to put down, Compromised is the book you are looking for. While Compromised was my introduction the Tom Saric's writing, I’ll be reading more of his books.
Paul Alban is a French doctor living in Somalia living with his nurse girlfriend, Ellen; an American. Or at least, that’s the story. When a ship is hijacked by pirates and the contents reveal nuclear weapons being snuck into Somalia, it’s time for the truth to come out, whether Paul wants it to or not.
I wasn’t as thrilled with this book by Saric. I still love his writing style, but I was mostly confused for the first half of the book. I’d finally catch on, then some new information would be thrown in that confused me about the plot points again. But the last half cleared some things up and, and this book had a very strong finish. I’m convinced that if I read this book again, I would understand it a lot better.
