Breaking All Rules: A Pretend Wife Romance

Rate this book
Being a make-believe wife is easy as Sunday morning . . . until she broke his rules . . .

CEO Hamlin Alexander needs to impress the bigwigs at the gala to win a major contract.

So, a pretend wife by his side is a must.

The caveat? She should never get on his bad side. And she should never develop feelings for him.

No wonder he has trouble finding one.

Until Gianna “Gigi” Kane walks into his life.

She’s disorganized, stubborn and strong-willed.
But she’s also beautiful and refreshingly honest.
Despite her flaws, she’s perfect for the job.

Gigi dropped out of the job market six years ago.
Now that she’s back, the competition is tougher than ever—which is the reason why she agrees to Hamlin's outrageous proposition.

She’ll be paid enough money to make all of her career dreams come true.

And the rules he insists she follow?

No problem.

Except there may be a slight problem.

She’s so good at her role, she forgot that it’s all a game to him.

And she’s about to break every one of his rules . . .

Because as hard as she tries . . . those feelings she’s not supposed to develop for him . . . just won’t stop.

Now, not only will she not get paid, she’s also about to lose the job.

How can she prove to him that breaking the rules is the best thing that could ever happen to both of them?

Breaking All Rules is the first book I have read by this author. It took me a little longer to read this than I thought it would.
I enjoyed the characters but some of them were getting a bit annoying to me and how they reacted to things. I liked Gianna though and thought her job sounded pretty interesting. I had a kinda love/hate relationship with Hamlin and how he treated Gianna at times. Also I wasn’t a huge fan of his name and the fact that people called him Hammy a lot. I liked the chemistry these two had but I didn’t really like how he went back and forth with trusting Gianna. I felt that Gianna didn’t really give him any reason not to trust her besides the phone call that Mary wasn’t even supposed to overhear. Hamlin’s mother was getting on my nerves a bit also throughout this story.
I also felt that this story didn’t go as I thought it would. He hired her to go to the gala with him and then that didn’t even happen and she really didn’t even need to pretend to be his wife because she managed to get this job done by herself pretty much.
I still was able to read this story and enjoyed it for the most part.

When Hamlin Alexander meets Gianna Kane he knows right away that there’s something special about her. She doesn’t get the job with his company, but he has other plans that could help her with starting her business.
Gianna “Gigi” hasn’t worked in years because she was taking care of her parents. With both of them gone, getting back into the work force is something new to her. When Hamlin offers her a job, the money is something that will help her to start her therapy business and to help her nieces that she loves so much.
Can Gigi be his pretend wife and get the job done without falling in love with him. And can Hamlin let her walk away and continue to be the CEO.
This is a captivating story, where breaking the rules counts.

I enjoyed the flow of the story. Some of the conversations were a bit hard to follow at times because thoughts somehow translated into the conversations without it being said. But for the most part it was very well done.

I received this book from Voracious Readers Only.

Another great book by Julia! Hamlin and Gigi are a wonderful couple. They are perfect for each other. Gigi is so caring and attentive to Hamlin. Hamlin is a big softy even if he won't admit it. He's just trying to protect his heart, but Gigi wiggles in there and stays. There were a few people that tried to get between them, but they didn't let them. They knew where their hearts were. I definitely recommend this book if you like sweet romances with a little bit of spice!
