More than What is Stated

I have read a fair amount of books on budgeting, and while the table of contents suggests this book will cover all the standard topics that any book on budgeting should, I found this book to offer quite a bit more. One thing I like is that she included sheets within the book in many of the chapters. Of course, in an ebook, worksheets aren't terribly practical (and I didn't see where she was offering a free download of them), but most are simply structured that you could make a replica in Word or Google Docs rather easily. I also like that she had a novel approach to managing money. Most books on budgeting really focus on the money aspect ($$), as in what you should do with your savings, how you can cut down on things like utilities, etc. But this author includes things like gardening or treating yourself well as you try to manage your money. I don't think I've ever seen another budgeting book that mentions yoga and aromatherapy! She offers a lot of personal insights and tips along the way. She comes across as a more knowledgeable friend sharing her thoughts. At the beginning of the book, she suggested that you not see budgeting as restrictive but as a way to better freedom. For instance, you should see budgeting as a way to help you get the money for your bigger goals, whether that's a nice vacation, helping to pay for your children's college, or owning a house. I like that bigger perspective on why people should budget. All in all, I found this a refreshing look at a topic that can at times be a bit too staid, restrictive, or boring.

I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.

Excellent book on budgeting and money management!

While some of the book was a review, the author presented everything in a logical order. The discussion flowed well and she shared a lot of helpful tips. I would highly recommend this book to anyone interested in improving their financial situation.

This book is broken down nicely into manageable steps with different sheets to track your spending on. It really will help anyone at any income level be able to see what they need to do to achieve their financial goals. This book also makes you very aware that your budget can and probably will change, and that's OK.
