He hated me from the second he laid eyes on me, and I don’t have the first clue why… But, if he wants to hate me, I’m happy to give him a few reasons: mowing the lawn at dawn on the weekend, leaving garbage cans in front of his driveway, renting a petting zoo for my backyard...making a list of ways to drive him crazy is half the fun.
He deserves it with the way he’s driving me crazy right back without even trying— walking around without a shirt on, sweaty rippling muscles on full display, well-worn denim jeans perfectly molded to his...well, you get the idea.
My point is, if he wants a war, I’ll give him one.

Nailed was a cute story in the Four Bears Construction series by K.M. Neuhold, but even though I enjoyed it, man did it have its flaws.
I really liked that we got two MCs in their 40s. It's bears, bears, and more bears up in here, with hairy bellies, construction/mechanic jobs, and a little jiggle in the middle. I dug the fact that the MCs were older, though older doesn't equal wiser...
Stone irritated the crap out of me with his pranks, and, honestly, if someone did half of the stuff he did to my pet I would freak out. It was so annoying. At least, I'm pretty sure that was Stone since I kept getting the two MCs confused... Honestly, with names like Stone and Dare it was just one big porn star scene in my mind, and I could barely tell who was talking half the time. Even at the last chapter, I kept having to repeat "Dare is the one with the dog," but even that wasn't quite enough.
The story grew on me towards the end, and I found myself feeling mushy at their climb towards love and all that gooey stuff, but it took me nearly a week to finish, which is crazy for a fluffy contemporary romance.
I think the back and forth in the beginning put me off a bit, but I was pleased at the direction the story went over time. I'm still hooked on this series, and I can't wait to read about the next bear to fall in love.

My overall impression of this story is absolutely positive, even though I started out finding these guys insanely weird.
Stone and Dare, two single guys in their 40s who just know of each other because they happen to be neighbors, are both quite... unique.
Ever since moving into his fixer upper home, Stone is getting increasingly hostile vibes from his hot neighbor.
Instead of trying to find out what's wrong, like any normal person would, Stone sets out to make the neighbor's life hell by mowing the lawn on weekends in the early morning or renting a petting zoo with goats that chew off Dare's flowers (and more).
Much to Dare's dismay, though, his dog Rudy takes a liking to the annoying new neighbor and constantly runs over to his house where Stone serves him treats and cuddles with him as if Rudy was his dog too.
A few heated quarrels between the neighbors result in raunchy heat-of-the-moment bareback sex that both guys don't really know how to explain, but what the hell, if the angry sex is this good, why stop?
Of course, once both guys get to know each other better, they even take a chance at dating and eventually find something that both of them gave up hope on long ago.
In one word: delicious.
This was a lovely anti-romance. Stone and Dare are both men who I can barely see as love interests in any other romance. One is too grumpy, too distant and too afraid of commitment (and also too insecure behind that tough facade) while the other is too much of a goofball who doesn't take many things seriously.
But together, they make an endearing couple that takes a different approach to romance. By the time they actually do date, they're both so attuned to each other that there's not even a question that they're each other's Mr Right.
The beginning was a bit bumpy, what with Dare initially hating on Stone for a totally weird reason. But by the end I was definitely sold on them. I actually can't wait to read about the other guys in this series. I find them all incredibly lovable. Especially Ollie needs to find happiness. OMG, his bad luck in love is quite tragic. And Ev? Something tells me he's not straight after all.
Caulky was already an amazing start of this series but Nailed is a worthy continuation of the theme (the theme being hot hairy construction workers falling in love, LOL).
I felt especially happy for Dare with whom I could totally relate. It's so nice to see him happy at the end <3

Enemies to lovers book that was funny.
But still.... no actual bears.
So, these two are neighbors and they have stupid man names: Stone and Dare. *sigh*
They are manly men, as evidenced by the names, but just to drive that point home they are also manly in their jobs. Stone is in construction and Dare is a motorcycle mechanic. They are also both hairy, so don't be doubting their man cards.
Oh, um, sexy? I bet you're just murder on the shower drain.
Stone moves next door to Dare and for some reason Dare hates him immediately. Stone takes offense to that so he does what he can to endear himself: waking up his neighbor at the crack of dawn every weekend by running power tools. That should help things! I know that I love it when my neighbor does their lawn at 7am on Saturday....
Of course, this turns into sex because... well...
It was cute and funny, but again, I can't stress the level of disappointment I feel about the bearlessness of this series.

It was so nice to read a story with two main characters in their 40s!
I’d call this a gay, non-romance? It’s technically enemies to lovers, but their relationship felt kind of emotionally blocked the whole time. I kept mixing them up, who had the dog again? Who was pulling the pranks? It was cute overall, but I just wanted more depth from the characters.
Favorite character was Rudy, the dog.
The humor was very teenager, but cute.
Butter as lube.

My favorite thing about this story? Rudy the dog. Hands down, no contest. Rudy is the third MC, always sneaking over to Stone's house and causing trouble.
Stone falls for Rudy before he falls for Rudy's dad, Dare, and does everything in his power to harass his next door neighbor.
My second favorite thing? FILTHY BUTTER SEX.
I also loved: the snark, pseudo enemies-to-lovers trope, plentiful smexy times, the Four Bears, and the epilogue.
This is a funny, supremely enjoyable story. I'm really liking this series!

Well I loved that even more than book one in the series, there's nothing better than watching a closed-off man break out of his grump and fall in love.
This is billed as an enemies to lovers romance and it is, to an extent, but Stone and Dare don't ever really hate each other, there's is a fractious neighbourly squabble based on a misunderstanding and there's plenty of lusty testosterone in play to change the game.
The sex is at first explosive, although I really caution against butter as lube 😉 but it becomes more quite gradually as Dare starts to let the light into his darkest corners and Stone realises that he really does want to spend an eternity with the grump next door.
Add in a cute dog doing his best to bring his two people together, the rest of the Four Bears Construction guys on hand to throw out their usual sarcasm and unwanted advice, and this is shaping up to be my favourite series from KM.

Overall, this was a fun read.
There were parts of the story that I found very sweet and funny and I'm sure I would have liked it more if the characters weren't acting so immature, especially in the beginning.
I enjoyed it more when Stone and Dare started hanging out, though I have to say that my favourite character in this book was Rudy the dog.
Not sure if this is a spoiler or a fair warning, but there is a scene with a snake. Thankfully, Stone made the whole traumatic experience better. 😂

My hopes were really high on this one after loving book 1. Not to mention - enemies to lovers. I wouldn't say this one was a home-run for me.
I liked it, but it didn't quite live up to my expectations.
I found Stone's antics to be a bit immature at times. And I thought the transition from enemies to lovers wasn't quite on pace. It went from one extreme to the other with not much in between.
But as a whole I love all of the Four Bears characters and am looking forward to the rest of the books in the series. I feel like West will get a book too. Or at least I hope he does. Sawyer maybe?

4.5 stars- This series keeps getting better. I enjoyed this a tad more than previous book, just as fun and entertaining. Another win with the banter, I lol’d, I even happy cried. Mature, hard working and sexy men finding love, extra star for goats and dogs! Loved Dare and Stone!

"Nailed," is the second book in the, "Four Bears Construction," series which started with Caulky. It could definitely be read on it's own but I think it would be enjoyed best if you read book one first. Plus why would you skip out on Cole and Ren's book?
This book was a lot of fun and low-zero angst. Stone and Dare were likeable even though Dare was a bit of a porcupine. Or maybe he was likable because he was a porcupine! I love prickly characters. I loved how it shifted from enemies to lovers to friends to lovers to...cautiously dating to lovers? 🤔 Whatever it was, I liked it. It also had lots of humor too with all of Stone's shenanigans.
A great addition to the series and I can't wait to see who is next. Ollie maybe? Please. That man needs love.😍

Re-read March 2022: I'm so relieved that my memory did not deceive me. I still enjoy this one on the 3rd re-read. Still my favorite (by far) from this author!
Re-read January 2021: I am bumping the rating up to 5 stars because I really enjoyed it even more the second time around. I highly recommend, the way the relationship evolves feels true and well paced. I really loved both characters. Stone is hilarious, I laughed more than I remembered. It is a funny and light read, rather low angst and fast paced, a lot happens and it all makes sense.
I liked this one even more than the first installment. I enjoyed the pacing and this one really felt like an enemy to lovers whereas often it's advertised as such but really isn't. I maybe wish that the couple discussed Dare's background more but other than that I really liked the group of friends and I'm looking forward to the rest of the series.

Nailed is the second book in K.M. Neuhold’s Four Bears Construction series and the story is a lot of fun. Enemies to lovers is one of my favorite tropes and this one definitely ups the intensity as these guys start off the book in a full on feud and things are pretty hostile between them. Stone has a bit of playfulness as he is enjoying pushing Dare’s buttons, but Dare is quite angry about Stone’s various antics. These books have a fun, light tone, however, so even as the guys are hating on each other, there is still some humor and playfulness to the story. It never feels overly serious or hostile, which makes things work nicely when they ultimately realize that they are into each other.
This story has a pretty smooth arc from enemies to lovers. The conflict really lies in the set up that the guys are fighting and things improve as they get to know one another and start falling for each other. So this one doesn’t have a traditional romance arc with a late stage conflict, more a slightly bumpy but fairly straight road forward.

"You, Stone Slater are the biggest pain in the ass I’ve ever met. From the moment you moved in next door, you’ve disrupted my peace and forced me out of my comfort zone,” he says, and I chuckle, although it sounds more like a sob. “But you’ve also made me a better person. You’ve taught me how to have more fun, you’ve loved and protected my dog…you’ve loved me, even though I don’t think I’ve made that easy most of the time. I want to love you for the rest of my life, and I hope you’ll let me.
This was cute, fun and very hot. Downright hilarious because I think I'm developing a fetish for character annoying and irritating their significant other just for the hell of it, and... kind of sweet. I'm not really an animal person sooooo I didn't really care for Ruby who was the dog main character but the bond Dare and Stone shared with Ruby was quite soft.
But there was definently a problematic scene of Stone inserting a tracking chip without Dare's permission or even informing him so after that I was just sort of meh about this story.
I really don't know why the books I'm reading aren't doing it for me anymore lmao 😂

Rudy and Nards...best dog characters ever, it's true!!! Especially Rudy, of course💗 The dogs, the enemies to lovers aspect and Stone saying popular phrases wrong were my favorite parts of the book. I was cracking up when he said he was "stuck between a cock and a hard place." 🤣 Never change, Stone. Never. Change.
I am going to keep going with the series eventually and I am hopeful that I will loveee one of the books eventually. With this series I tend to enjoy the very beginning and then my interest kind of peters out as I keep reading but I enjoyed this more than book 1 so I consider that a win! With both books I have gotten pretty bored at times and with this one the character's voices sounded so similar. I still really love Dare and Stone and their journey and will return to this world when I want something very light. 🥰

My review of Caulky started out with Yes, yes, yes! I love finding a book that rubs me completely the right way and this one did just that. I really, really liked it, a lot..
This one is starting out with the word BUMMER.
This did not work for me. I'm pretty sure I didn't like it at all and the 'it was ok' rating might be a stretch. I struggled with the entire read and really pushed to finish it, hoping something would rub me the right way. It never did.
Stone was a child and not funny. Dare was a jerk and never, never, never stopped. They both needed to grow up and I can't believe they were my age. Don't even get me started on the care of the animals in this book. Nope, nope, nope.

Fun, low angst MM romance with a prickly cactus hero and cute dogs.
I enjoyed this book and all of the banter between the characters. I always love a grumpy and sunshine couple and thought Stone and Dare were cute together. It was nothing that blew me away but I enjoyed reading it. Some of the more uh....unique sex scenes I could have done without, though.

From where do I start? First of all, I just want to say I stopped reading synopsis of books lately. So I was undeniably caught off guard to found that this book is about two forty year old dudes pinning each other. I asked myself if I’m even ready for this kind of mm romance. Turns out, I am!
The best two things in the this book were: The dogs and Neuhold’s writing style. This is the second book I read from Neuhold and it didn’t disappoint. The writing style was lightweight and fluffy. I was flying through the whole book because her writing style made it easy. With respect to the characters, they were fun to read. Thankfully, they were not interchangeable; they can stand on their own. The banter was good! I can’t believed I laughed at some parts.
Overall, this is a really good and fun book. Not for most readers though, I believe.

Amazing. Full throttle hate and angry sex full of passion and heat. Stone is truly an asshole of a neighbor and when combined with Dare's explosive temper makes for angry sex of epic proportions. But as wonderful as that is we still get heart felt moments between the two. These big, muscled men are kind of adorable as they fumble through their unexpected romance. The addition of Dare's butterfly garden was a cute touch as well. 🦋

These guys are both mid-forties and so immature their antics just come off as stupid. Again, this author seems to take the low, easy road with miscommunication and coincidences to form a story. It’s not something I enjoy and won’t be continuing with the series. YMMV.
ETA: 2 stars because the actual writing was decent but the plot/characters were easy to dismiss.

Yes I love a good enemies to lovers but this was lacking.
Like the first book the depth of these characters was non existent.. I wanted to know more about Dares past, but we were just told about his anger issues.
As much as I loved Rudy (the dog) Dare really needed to get him trained because running around all Willy nilly like that could have had a way worse outcome than what happened…
I don’t think I am going to continue with the rest of the series. Between this book and the first book, the first book was better in my opinion, but the pranks Stone did to Dare at the beginning gave me a good laugh! Haha

I really enjoyed this book! I started it around 5pm when I got home from work, and stayed up til 1am finishing it. I tried to convince myself to slow down and savor it, but I just couldn't resist! It was some very well written hate to lust to love story and I just loved every minute of it. I checked on FB, and apparently, Ev's book is next, which great for Ev but makes me really sad for poor Ollie. I swear that man is cursed to foretell the love of others while never finding love for himself.

This book is brilliant and hilarious. Stone and Dare go from being enemies to neighbours with benefits to lovers. The things Stone does just to annoy the living daylights out of Dare are absolutely hilarious! There is one adorable sidekick: Rudy, Dare's dog who refuses so stay in his own backyard and treats Stone's house as if it's own. I loved this book so much!! This book is absolute must read!

4.5 stars ... loved this. Grouchy, sullen Dare meets his peppy, annoying neighbor Stone in the most frustrating way. Miscommunication has them at odds until Stone eventually breaks down Dares walls through his dog. This was fun and sweet ❤️
