Chocolate Cozy Mystery series can be read in one to two hours. It is perfect for those moments when you are waiting at an appointment or want to enjoy a quick read. A new shop. A new neighborhood. And, a brand new mystery. I n the quiet little town of Chester, Olivia Cloud, the proud proprietress of the Block-A-Choc Shoppe chocolaterie and bakery, delights in providing her customers with glorious, as well as delicious confections. Couple that with warm and fuzzy affections offered by the neighboring Cuddle Clinic, run and owned by Olivia’s dear friend, Jana Jujube. Then, the unthinkable happens.... Poor Jana is brutally attacked and left in a coma. Shocked and devastated, Chester goes into a fervor over the horrible crime, and Olivia sets out to find the perpetrator. But, that may not be as easy as it seems. Coupled with an inexperienced investigative partner Alvira, her shoppe’s assistant, Olivia initially coasts through the case, until the ladies stumble upon their first roadblock-Jessica Jujube, Jana’s often difficult and yet, mysterious sister. Only a determined baker, her plucky assistant, a love struck gentleman and a host of other loveable and affable citizens can get justice for sweet Jana-by hook, crook and with plenty of cuddles.

This one really had me stumped. I was certain the killer was someone else entirely. I really like it best when I don't figure out out ahead of time. Well done. Can't wait to read more in this series.
The only reason I did not give this a one star was because I did not read the first book and this series and am thinking some of the references I missed might be because of that. I just found this book all over the place. I didn't get to know any of the characters. There was constant references to things I didn't get. There was a business that made NO sense to me. It was a Cuddle place, where people just drop in to get cuddles. How was this place making money? How did it work? it just made no sense to me. I would think if people needed "cuddles" they would need counseling. It just was not explained well at all. And one LITTLE thing, that just gets on my nerves was two of the characters started with a vowel and then had a V in their name. They were just too similar to make reading it fast easy, ( I had to stop and think which one I was reading about,, that is just a ME thing tho,)
The town of Chester has seen another murder. Jana who owns the Cuddle Clinic has been attacked, laying in the hospital in a coma. Olivia will not sit still unless she finds out who did this to her.
Alvira, Olivia’s assistant helps out with the investigation. Things where going good until they meet Jana’s sister Jessica. She is a force to be reckon with.
With Jake not helping since he is with the police Olivia is doing what she can. Is it the sister or the someone who loves Jana?
I enjoyed reading the 2nd book in this series. The characters are fun and nice to see again. Jake is a nice guy but not sure how they will work out. The plot is written well as you will want to know who did what. I was kept guessing until the end.
Super! Our chocolatier is back! A vicious attack has left one of the store owners in hospital. Will they survive? Why is there a campaign against her store? Alright she is a bit out there running a hugs store but she didn't deserve to be attacked. Add in a frosty sister, a besotted employee and our favourite PI and you have another great read. Can they solve the mystery before the detective shuts them out completely. The characters are really growing and although it's a short read, you aren't short changed at all.
Olivia is back and this time minus Jake. He stood her up and now she wants nothing to do with him until Jana, the cuddle lady, is injured. She asks him to help her find out who did but he will not. Need to read to find out why and who did the deed.
In book 2 we are getting to know Olivia much better. Again, the mystery kept me going on through the end. Wendy did a wonderful job of keeping us in suspense to the very end. A lovely series, a quick read and perfect for a day at the beach.
I love the characters, especially the dog. I always want a chocolate after reading at least one page. It's quite reasonable with her getting into so much trouble. Your first one was also great
Quick, pretty good story. Entertaining characters although some make you wish they were the victims😉. Those chocolates (don't call them candies) sound so delicious they make me eager for Valentine's day.
Another well written cozy mystery from Wendy Meadows! Enjoyable. Great characters. Suspense. Some mild chills. An ending that I wasn't expecting. And promise for another great story in the next story of the series. No cliffhanger, which is great!!
Great short mystery. Had me guessing till near the end. I like the characters. My belly calls out for the chocolate that you describe so well. Thanks for the mystery
I have enjoyed reading this book just as much as the others in this series. The author is very talented at keeping you interested in the characters and storyline.
This is the first one of Wendy Meadows books I read and I really liked it. I will have to look for the first book in the series and more. When another business owner is attacked Olivia wants to find her attacker so her friend can rest in peace. With a little help from her shop assistants she is off and looking for the attacker.
