Oliver Lincoln is a twenty-something bookstore owner with a problem. When he runs into his ex at a market, a knight in shining armor steps in to protect him from the unwanted attention. Exchanging numbers, Oliver doesn’t expect his new firefighter friend to want to spend more time with him—or to get to know him at all. With self-worth issues, and confidence beaten down by a relationship he would much rather forget, this new relationship will take work and effort he doesn’t think he has.

Eddie Rodriguez has what his friend likes to call a white knight complex. When he helps someone he meets in a market, who is being harassed, he isn’t prepared for Oliver Lincoln—or the ex who just won’t leave him alone.

Though their romance blossoms into something they both think might be permanent, Doug Portman, Oliver’s ex, begins a campaign of terror that promises retribution on Eddie, Oliver and the love they both hold dear. With their friends struggling to hold everything together and Oliver making a mistake that threatens their relationship and future, can their love overcome the obstacles?

Or will Doug’s machinations end with something far more sinister than just a breakup?

Jerry Cole is a gay author who lives in California & enjoys writing love stories. Jerry has been writing fiction since he was a child. "Burning Desire" has Eddie, a hot, muscled Firefighter, in his 30s, and meek Bookstore owner, Oliver, in his 20s,

as an unlikely pairing.
Oliver is grocery shopping when his abusive ex-boyfriend, Doug, begins harassing him. The stranger who steps up to help, is Eddie.

From that meeting, our two men each feel like taking a chance at reaching for more. Eddie and Oliver begin to date, taking baby steps, slowly sharing stories. Then we have the ex showing up to wreak havoc and disrupt Oliver's happiness, with harassment, an information leak, a serious accident, arson and more.

There is romance and suspense, super hot sexiness and true love, plus a heaping dose of caring friends.
I would like to have had Oliver go to a therapist for his healing from Doug's mental abuse, and the ensuing depression and it's effects.

Eddie and Oliver have no family, and need each other, which makes their relationship even more necessary.
ENJOY.

Amazing Love Story

Outstanding Love Story , from the beginning of the book, it draws you in like a puzzle until you have all of the pieces you get the whole picture. It draws you in with the humor and witt, you feel the hurt and emotion that they share with each other. I was so absorbed by the story of Eddie and Oliver, that I felt like I was right there in the background watching them grow together. It's definitely a great Love story. You laugh and cry with them ,and even experience the hurt and emotions between each other, but you can feel the love that grows between them and the bond they develop with each other. The family that they create with Eddie 's firehouse crew is amazing, and they even include Oliver's best friend Maddie. It is such a phenomenal story, I would love to see a follow-up with Eddie and Oliver, as they rebuild the bookstore together and continue to build their lives together. Great book, hot sexy scenarios.

Oliver is suffering from PTSD after he left his abusive boyfriend. He meets Eddy a fireman at a supermarket when Doug, the ex, confronts him and Eddy steps in to save Oliver. This is an intense story with not only an abusive, violent stalker of an ex, but Oliver dealing with his feelings of low self worth that Doug has instilled in him. Eddy has problems of self worth of his own, but has managed to turn his life around. Oliver is a trust fund baby, and really doesn't need his bookstore, but it is the only thing that keeps him sane, along with his friend Maddie. An intense, suspenseful, dangerous, story with a growing love that is put in jeopardy by an ex who won't give up. Well worth the read. I voluntarily read and reviewed this ARC book.

Oliver was mentally abused by his ex, Doug, which totally destroyed his confidence and self-worth. Whilst grocery shopping, he runs into his ex and gets harassed by him. This brings him to the notice of Eddie, who jumps in and pretends to be Oliver’s boyfriend to get rid of Doug. Oliver and Eddie meet up again after that and started dating. Dough is still very obsessive and interfere to the point of trying to throw a wedge between Oliver and Eddie and being very dangerous to the couple.

This book has lots of suspense, misunderstanding and heartache. A very good read.

I read a complimentary advanced reader copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest and unbiased review.

Great story! This MM romance/thriller was so good, kept me interested from the first page.
I'm finding I really have a thing for firefighter stories, Eddie was impossible not to love, from his hero complex, to the ways he did everything in his power to make sure Ollie felt cherished and cared for and safe.
Eddie's accident and Ollie's attack by his psychopath of an ex just cemented their relationship.
Also, Maddie and Kai and all the rest of Eddie's workmates are just incredible, and truly a family to those guys.

I loved Jerry Cole's books specially how he manages difficult topics with an intensity and emotion that trapped me inside the plot until the very end. Oliver and Eddie's story had a lot of angst and danger, and besides all the scary situations at the end of course love always won. A wonderful reading!
I received this book as an ARC and this is my honest opinion.

Oliver's ex, Doug, damaged his self esteem and he cannot see a way beyond who he is now. Eddie rescues Oliver from a tense situation and their relationship blossoms from there. Doug's presence is a menace, and Eddie must decide if fighting against it is worth being with Oliver.

Almost

The storyline shows promise even with the less than stellar writing used. Plot and character development each are a bit sloppy and while the intent is obvious the delivery leaves one wishing for more.

Just OK, sweet plot but not awesome in my opinion. A couple of times the MCs names were wrong, it was confusing.
