Almost two years later, betrayed by his fellow bandits, he has no choice but to leave his villainous business behind and seek a new beginning. In an attempt to cover his tracks, he will present himself as the father to his best friend’s son, Eli, and they will both start their life over in Arizona. However, there will soon be a cloud on the horizon… Will John manage to foresee the dangerous traps that will block his way?

With his former gang members on his trail, John is on pins and needles... Although he’s trying to dismiss the dark thoughts from his mind, an unexpected attack would terrify him. When the nasty criminals finally get to him, John will be confronted with a cruel threat: he will either help them pull off another risky heist, or both Eli’s and his life are in deadly danger. Will he eventually join forces with the evil bandits once more, or will he manage to escape this dreadful pursuit?

While John is severely trying to make this crucial decision, he will find himself trapped in the net of the lies that he crafted... Will this exhausting battle with the ghosts of his past finally come to an end? Or will he be forced to abandon the hopes and dreams for a new life forever?

John served in the war with his partner Uriah. They returned to Uriah’s home where his wife greeted him with a so long and I’m not coming back. She tells her son Eli, if you’re coming let’s go. He doesn’t move and she leaves them all.

Uriah has a plan to get some money because jobs are scarce. They tell Eli, they are going on a job and they will come back. The men meet up with two brothers. The oats brothers are mean hombres. They’d just as soon shoot ya then anything, they are going to hold up a train and rob the money from the safe. The Oats brothers aren’t always the brightest people. They plan on blowing up the tracks, causing the train to derail.. John isn’t convinced this will work but Uriah tells him the brothers are ruthless and if we turn tail they would kill them. They go along with the plan and sure enough the train derails and they proceeded to rob it. One of the Oats brothers blows up the safe . They make to leave and Uriah gets gut shot. They ride on and John is worried for his friend. The brothers push them on. Once they stop John tries to help his friend but one of the brothers says just kill em and move along. John refuses and the brother kills Uriah. They try to double cross John but he catches them off guard taking burnt money instead of the good money.

John returns to Eli and has to tell him his paw is dead.. they move on but not before pulling a robbery on one of the establishments.

The two go on and find a place to settle down, but with their past will they make it? I tell you this much the Oats brothers aren’t happy and won’t stop till they get the money John has made off with from the heist.

Great story I enjoyed reading this book

Keep your lies simple

Uriah Ducan’s best friend, John Whitmore, served in the Texas Brigade with Uriah. After the war, John went home with Uriah. Unfortunately, Uriah is committing robberies with two brothers, Chester and Lester. One day Uriah talks John into participating. It went south, way south; Uriah is killed.

The brothers short John on his take from the robbery; he gets even during a tornado and goes to Uriah’s son to retrieve Uriah’s son, Eli. John and Eli are on the run. Lester and Chester cannot afford to let them live.

What follows is the tale of how John and Eli elude the brothers, making mistakes along the way--errors that allow the brothers to find them. John wants to go straight. He finds a small town to hide in, gets a job, settles into everyday life.

A tower of lies hides John and Eli’s past lives. What happens when Emily, the school teacher that John loves, finds out his past? Read how John finds redemption in the old West.

This was an interesting story about reforming your life with a child. Having been a criminal with a group of bandits when they turn on you you have no choice but to leave. But what happens when they catch up to you and threaten your life and the child you are portraying to be yours? When your past lies catch up what will you do? You will be on the edge of your seat trying to figure out what’s gonna happen.

OUTLAWS CHASING OUTLAWS

How easily we are led a stray... There's no such thing as easy money and you just can't trust someone who is inherently evil. This story line is basically about sin, punishment and forgiveness... With a little romance thrown into the mix to keep things interesting.
Overall I think it's a good book and recommended.

Excellent

Plot structure is believable. Writing structure is succinct with just enough description to add color. Character development is achieved via plot and character interplay with others amid strictures of social constraints and ethics.

Redemption takes time

Well written with realistic situations of that century. Offered a storylines of adventures and challenges - choices, dangers and moments of pause.
Enjoyed reading this fiction with underlying historical nuances.

interesting

I deducted a star because of the profanity, but otherwise it was a very interesting story. I see little worth in such usage.
