High school student Axel sits at his desk, bored with the monotonous cycle of his life, waiting for something to change. Unknown to him, he’s about to be sent to FlipSide – a futuristic city coated in an array of neon lights, lightning fast trains, and streets filled with people gliding with ease. At first glance, society seems at peace, but a great civil war is brewing beneath the city.
An organization called the Linkers gathers its forces to rise up against the Mayor and his men. They have one goal: to link FlipSide to the normal world that we all know. The Mayor of Flipside is determined to do everything in his power to stop the worlds from being linked. As Axel sits, both the Linkers and the Mayor are sending their forces to bring him to FlipSide as he may be the only one that can truly open the gate between the worlds.
If you like the Hunger Games, the Maze Runner, and divergent this is definitely up your alley! The Flipside is set in a very interesting parallel universe mirroring modern day Chicago and I found the city of Flipside so fascinating to read about. The characters are all very relatable. The ending left me wanting more. I can’t read to read the next book and continue on with the series!
