Tikao Talks The Traditions and tales of the Canterbury Maoris as told by Tenone Taare Tikao

Rate this book
Teone Taare Tikao, who died in 1927, was one of the most respected rangatira of the South Island. Trained as a boy in the ways of the tohunga, he was acknowledged to have a vast knowledge of Maori mythology, history and culture. In 1920 Tikao's great knowledge was tapped by the historian Herries Beattie. The book remains a unique record of the Maori past, fifty years after its first publication.
